Well...the second one you posted was actually on the 20th of October, not Novemer 8th. As for the November 8th feedback, she actually purchased on November 1st. I *suspect* that as soon as she realized how things were snowballing against her, she decided to fall off the face of the planet and hasn't made a purchase since then.

And now it makes me wonder...how did she pay for those items if her paypal acccount for rubinjewelers/FF if it has indeed been inactive since August/September?

Anyway, I've had no experience with this person, so it's probably best for me to bow out...not that interested in creating drama that has nothing to do with me.

I was just looking on the RJ ebay site at the 18KT pave gold 4ctw inside outside oval earrings listed for $5,125.00---mainly because I almost bought them over the summer.
Here is the link:

For the heck of it I googled the exact listing "18K Pave Diamond 4ctw Inside Out Oval Hoop Earrings" and got this wholesale site-DHgate.com----the exact same earrings are listed on there and THE SAME PICTURE! I am not sure on the pricing but it appears they are $26.22 if you buy 1-3 pair. Could this be right? I believe this is a company out of China.

Very interesting. I wonder who the picture belongs too... Does it look like the usual Elana picture?

I don't want to speculate but that is a huge difference in price.

My experience from what we've seen on the Hermès forum is that the fakesters steal pictures from those selling the real thing and then when the person gets the item it is a horrible fake, looking nothing like the picture.

I guess we can speculate all day long here but really I think we should stick to facts rather than trying to guess what the truth is.

If you have an ebay store you can list items as 'good until cancelled' which means they just keep renewing forever. I barely use my ebay store but I have a bunch of stuff still up. I do get billed automatically to my pp though. I think you can arrange it to be charged to your cc instead. Not sure. But that could be how she still has listings up without a valid pp account.

So...um....to get back, um, on the point here....

When did we target, or did we, that things went wrong?

I purchased pearls and a necklace in July of 2009, received them in August of 2009

At that time, things were sort of slow to ship, but I got things. I have no idea about the necklace--will have to have it appraised, but am confident about (and love) the pearls.

Can we build a list of dates people purchased and whether or not they had an okay experience?

Bought 7 items during 2009, good experience, no problems

FYI:
Elana is posting on the chicken forum today. I'm wondering if those who haven't been successful at contacting her about their orders, money, product quality, whatever, would have a chance to catch her there. But if she's ignoring ALL attempts to contact her elsewhere, what would keep her from ignoring these? IDK...

By the way, on Saturday she said she had just returned from the "Ohio Nationals" and that one of her chickens won 1st price, so she's well enough to travel and run that chicken business, which can't be easy.

She's also marketing herself (in her signature) as "Resident Jeweler, wisecracker & mother flocker to a band of Silkie Chickens." So she's still promoting her jewelry.

To stay on topic.....

One transaction in 2009. Except for mediocre construction quality the transaction went very well and I'm pleased with my purchase. Quality of pearls were as described.

Jewelers who actually make their own settings are few and far between. Even then, "handcrafted" is almost always a merging of various findings available to the trade.

not in my fairly extensive experience as a jewelry customer. i work with three jewelers, all within a 30 minute drive from my house in rural new jersey, who create custom pieces from drawings through wax carving, casting, setting and finishing.

I think these are Stullerhttp://www.stuller.com/products/67830/?groupId=104055.

I own pieces that were created that way. I stated, that they are few and far between as most are commissioned.

Perhaps I should clarify that jewelers will describe pieces as "handmade" if they have put together various findings, i.e., a ring setting where the basket comes from one source, and the shank from another then becomes handmade by virtue of the final jeweler putting those pieces together. (I apologize for the run-on sentence, just making my point)

^^I do realize this is off topic but 'handmade' to most Master Bench jewelers does not constitute putting together various findings, say from Stuller. A "handmade", "custom piece" is drawn up by the jeweler/customer, wax cut, caste and finished by the jeweler. My bench jeweler would never characterize a piece he 'worked' on by replacing the shank, head, etc. as 'handmade'. :D The Master jeweler where I work is very particular about that......

I'm in agreement with this post and the one Dressage Queen posted.

Agree with Contessa here too. I've worked with dozens of jewelers over the course of 30+ years, and none described work as "handmade" that was assembled from purchased findings. That's not particularly skilled or creative work, and while jewelers might have to work like that, it's not the work they take pride in or promote as hand-crafted.

And for the timeline, I purchased from mid-2008 to mid-2009. Items purchased all along that year timeline were about a 50/50 mix of okay items sold at above retail and grossly misrepresented items. The most gravely misrepresented items were necklaces with diamond weights significantly shorted from what I was told I was purchasing. I did have quick shipping though.

I think those that do this sort of work might beg to differ with you. As someone who does do such things (with beautiful pearls bought from FF), and quite creatively, I might add, I find this really offensive and inaccurate.
