Merika, to your last question, I don't think there's any excuse or story that she can say/make up to explain this all way...and there's no salvation that will come of it....

Not that I have all the answers but I think she's thinking, why bother saying anything? Fodder for potential claims...

Really, what can she say?

That was me on the BIN on the earrings.
I tried to see if paypal, CC's would work on her Ebay jewelry account. I had posted that I was going to check for myself if you could purchase and pay on her Ebay store, the answer as far as my attempt, is no.

Yikes, someone just bought some earrings from her yesterday with a Best Offer of almost 1K:

http://cgi.ebay.com/14k-Sparkling-D...98813?pt=US_Fine_Earrings&hash=item335c5975bd

Seems kinda strange that you'd close your paypal account on FF, but NOT on your ebay account....

Sorry, habanerita, I know you're trying to be neutral in stating the facts, but there is just too much going on against Elana.

I did the BIN on those earrings, I wanted to check, as I had posted before if you could buy from her site with cc's or paypal....as far as my attempt, the answer is no.

This is good to know. People can still do a BIN on her ebay site, though.

I'm glad she was honest with you about the sourcing of her items. Wish it had been the same with everyone's purchases.

My answer:She posted on the private selling forum the remarks about having items made by a friend, bought for a good price, etc., on the items I mentioned, the fact that these items were properly described does not constitute a negation about any that were not., in this thread both the good and the bad should be posted, and it has.

"Business sense was not on par" is bit of an understatement, don't you think?
My answer:Not in my opinion, her business sense was very much not on par.

NO explanation? Really??
My answer:The above statement is in response to my saying that I had no explanation for her behaviour, and I don't.

I am glad your personal purchases are satisfactory; I wish I could say the same to everyone else.
My answer:I am sure we all feel the same way, I know I do,

If one is being pursued by collection agencies, those people will go to great ends to get their payments, including ceaseless calling, contacting people's friends and relatives and so forth. I don't think this thread in itself is responsible for the destruction of Elana's business life and loss of reputation. As I said before, she had friends here, people here cared about her, she had the chance to come here and say her side of the story, and I wonder why she never did.

My answer:This thread in itself is not responsible, but those that post should do so based on facts, and I still feel the same way., again, I have no explanation of why she never did.

^The thing is, how did your offer get approved? Does ebay allow auto-approvals for best offers? I don't remember how it works, but from what I remember, the seller has to log in and accept or decline the offer...otherwise it just sits there and expires.

And it still doesn't explain why her ebay account is still active. If she were really concerned about her reputation, wouldn't she just take all the listings down? Some of those listings have nearly a month until they expire; it makes no sense to put them up when your paypal account is closed. Unless she is going to try and accept other forms of payment, but that's a whole other issue irrelevant to this thread.

NVM, just checked that she only accepts paypal...although doesn't explain active listings and offer approvals.

I just said it was a BIN., and I don't have any idea about the rest.

Can you clarify the point of this exercise? Did you bid in order to get these earrings, implying a level of confidence in the seller and the merchandise?

Or did you BIN only in order to test her system but not with the intention to actually pay for them? If it's this, it's in violation of eBay rules, of course.

So...um....to get back, um, on the point here....

When did we target, or did we, that things went wrong?

I purchased pearls and a necklace in July of 2009, received them in August of 2009

At that time, things were sort of slow to ship, but I got things. I have no idea about the necklace--will have to have it appraised, but am confident about (and love) the pearls.

Can we build a list of dates people purchased and whether or not they had an okay experience?

Aren't you going to get Elana even further in trouble with this kind of 'checking'? If you used BIN and bought something, regardless of whether you pay her or not her item has sold on ebay and she will be responsible for ebay fees for your ~$1K purchase.

Here's what eBay says:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/best-offer.html
"If you expect multiple offers, or you have a price range that you’ll accept for your item, you can respond to offers automatically. The Best Offer system will automatically accept or decline offers outside of price limits you set. Buyers will not know that you have set these limits, and you can change your price limits at any time, as long as the listing is still active.

The upper limit price you set must be lower than the Buy It Now price."

Her paypal account has been active in the last 2 weeks.
