I have sold from time to time and didn't except paypal. You have to have an account to list but I won't accept it as payments as the charges are ridiculous (in my opinion) and you then have to pay to withdraw the money from paypal to your actual checking account.

Just an FYI ... I withdraw to my checking account all the time... if it's just a transfer, there is no fee. There is a $1.50 fee if you want them to send you a check. Just mentioning it in case you want to accept it in the future.

Back to topic!

Okay, so just to list . . . .
But your PP account would need to be valid to list, no?

As far as I know yes. Now its been close to a year since I have listed on ebay. I personally find it more hassle then its worth, but there's a fee for posting a listing and ebay itself only accepts paypal. So without a valid paypal account it would not work. But you can always set up a new paypal account with a new cc and a new email address. Or you could link a friends/husbands/co workers to your listing I guess.

The policy has changed. Cheque and money order were always valid payment options in the past.

As it now stands (coppied from the link posted a few comments above)
For most categories, sellers need to offer one or more of the following electronic payment choices:
• PayPal
• ProPay
• Moneybookers
• Paymate
• Credit card or debit card processed through the seller's Internet merchant account

Additionally, payment upon pickup and Bill Me Later are valid payment methods as well

I was just looking on the RJ ebay site at the 18KT pave gold 4ctw inside outside oval earrings listed for $5,125.00---mainly because I almost bought them over the summer.
Here is the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/18K-Pave-Diamon...ne_Earrings&hash=item3358d9197e#ht_763wt_1141

For the heck of it I googled the exact listing "18K Pave Diamond 4ctw Inside Out Oval Hoop Earrings" and got this wholesale site-DHgate.com----the exact same earrings are listed on there and THE SAME PICTURE! I am not sure on the pricing but it appears they are $26.22 if you buy 1-3 pair. Could this be right? I believe this is a company out of China.
Here is the link:

I just did research on dhgate.com and it seems that it is a company that sells fakes out of Beijing, China.

Hmmm.......wonder if these $5k earrings are indeed fake? There is no way of knowing by the listing. Can this be turned over to Ebay security for investigation of selling fakes?

It is the EXACT photo with the dhgate edited out. Very suspicious.

Fakes sellers routinely steal and post pictures of authentic merchandise posted on eBay and elsewhere. That is, it goes the other way, too, very often. So unless you know where the pic originated, this is a baseless connection.

So...um....to get back, um, on the point here....

When did we target, or did we, that things went wrong?

I purchased pearls and a necklace in July of 2009, received them in August of 2009

At that time, things were sort of slow to ship, but I got things. I have no idea about the necklace--will have to have it appraised, but am confident about (and love) the pearls.

Can we build a list of dates people purchased and whether or not they had an okay experience?

Great idea!

Wait a sec. . . I thought you HAVE to accept Paypal on ebay? :thinkin:

From eBay:

Payment options for most listings

For most categories, you need to offer at least one electronic payment or Internet merchant credit card option. This provides a fast and secure transaction for you and the buyer. When a buyer clicks the Pay Now button in My eBay, the listing, or email notification, they pay you immediately and the payment is processed through the option you've chosen. You receive an email telling you you've been paid and you can ship the item.
You can also offer payment upon pickup.
Learn more about selecting your payment preferences.
You'll be offered payment options when you list your item. Payment options for most listings include:

Notes:

  • Payment by personal check, cashier's check, bank-to-bank transfers, or money order isn't allowed for most eBay purchases.

  • This doesn't apply to: some Motors categories, the Real Estate and Adult Only categories, and capital equipment. For a list of excluded categories, see the accepted payments policy.

I think this is an excellent idea and maybe put this whole thread back on track.

I have had 8 transactions with FF in the past year and no problems whatsoever.
