Thanks for looking out for us Vlad, Megs and all the mods!! I'm glad that I didn't order SM and I think I'll go with Applegarde instead.

Thank you Vlad and swankymama. I have gotten so comfortable with this forum and my guard is so low.

Does not matter what one's motivation is. It is only appropriate and ethical to disclose your connection with a product on the forum, i.e if you are related to them in any way.

I bought that stuff and spray it crazy all over the leather trim. Hopefully, there is no effects in the long term.

I have used SM monkey for a while and have never found a better product for my bags. If it is good enough to use on an $80,000.00 car I think it very safe on an $800.00 bag. I have also used all the other products available and I find that this is the best there is and I have never heard ANY complaints about it. JMO

I can only speak for myself, obviously, but if someone has a financial affiliation with a product, and they are promoting that product to others, then they should *always* disclose that fact. Always. Doesn't matter if it's on TV, on the radio, in the newspaper or on an Internet forum. If you don't, then it throws suspicion on you and everything you've ever said about that product. It doesn't matter if that's the greatest product *evah*. If you make money when someone buys it, then it's your duty to make sure people know that when you are telling them they should buy it. Period. Thanks to vlad for being a mod that cares.

So far, I have tried Collonil, Apple and Wilson's to protect my bags. I personally don't like Apple as it have a weird nozzle, I prefer Collonil and Wilson's to this day. I would love to try SM one day, and thanks to the ppl who have shared their experiences with the product :flowers:

I have used SM on shoes & bags for the last few months. I did not hear about it on tPF - but on LJ. It is a great product - so what if the a poster has financial interest in the product. I own eBay & Google stock - should I never mention an eBay item or should I never mention to "google" something. Doesn't make sense to make such a big deal out of SM financials.

Bottom line - it is a great product.

Albeit - SM was developed for cars; I use RetinA which was developed for acne, but I use it for wrinkle control.

Agree wholeheartedly :flowers: I doubt that if the owners of Wilsons/Apple of whatever are members of this forum, they would voluntarily confess their relationship with the products.

Very well said, mharvey. :flowers: Those who got snarky about it...they just don't 'get' it.

As for what works best on bags...I would always check with the manufacturer of the BAG or a leather expert for an objective opinion on what historically has worked well, rather than the "opinion" of anyone who will monetarily gain from a particular product.
