Geez! What a creep!

I bought 2 cans of SM based on all the rave reviews here and the fact they offered a tPF discount code. I already sprayed my MJ bag and it looks fine (its been a week). I am going to check for some more reviews online. I hope its okay in the long run!!

The post on SM was very long and it seemed like a lot of people loved SM. It can't be that all of them were shilling for the product, right??

*a little nervous*

Well, not everyone but a few of them are long term allieds of hers :hrmm: At the end of the day, it's better to use an established product with a "PROVEN" record rather than believing in hear say...........

i've used it and like it...it seems to do what it's supposed to, but sneaky advertising tactics and any kind of dishonesty, in general, is not cool  thanks for the sticky Vlad!

For what it's worth (and in the interest of full disclosure), the lady who is part owner of SM is a friend of mine. I have used the product on bags for about 6 months now and am pleased with the results and feel confident that it has had no ill effects on my items. This is not some kind of "paid" endorsement or graft for a friend, this is just my honest review of the product. If it sucked, I would not say good things about it, plain and simple.

As far as not mentioning she was affiliated with the company, she simply didn't want emails ad nauseum asking for discounts, asking questions, etc... I'm sure the owners of Appleguarde or Magic Eraser would appreciate their privacy as well should they be members of this forum. But it is incorrect to state that she avoided mentioning her affiliation due to fear of problems down the road. She is the owner of numerous valuable LV bags and had treated all of them and had no problems. If she had problems, she wouldn't recommend it for bags, she would have stuck to car tops! ;)

Oh please, we're not the ones posting about it. People who wanted to try out the product are asking questions so why not help them? I guess that's no longer allowed.

Seriously, everyone should consider reading Carol's post or anyone else's testimonial (Kathyrose has been praising this product for the longest time and she is in no way "affiliated" with the owner or the company) before they start thanking Vlad for saving their life and their bags.

Being that I have been brough up, I can safely let everyone know here that I have NOT met anyone on this forum in person and I do NOT know anyone here personally. I found out about this product on Livejournal and tried it after reading a few testimonials. It worked well for me so when someone asks about it, I will definitely answer based on what I have experienced. I don't know anyone from Shining Monkey personally so I'm not one of their friends or anything.

I did NOT know the owner was a member here at all. I just use the product and it worked well for me. I just got Appleguard Leather Care and will be using it and when someone in the forum asks about Appleguard Leather Care in the future, I will be sure to let them know how it works for me. As with Scotchguard Fabric Protector (do NOT use on leather or suede bags unless you get Scotchguars Leather Protector).

We did not naem any naems here, no need to get defensive.
And yes, there WAS a LOT of her friends 'shilling' the threads about it.
We know who they are and it was painfully obvious.
Vlad DID NOT say "don't use this product".
We are not slamming the Owner, nor her product, simply pointing out the truth behind many of the posts behind it.
Some people don't believe that it's questionable when an Owner of a Co is starting posts and sort of spamming other posts about their product w/o disclosing that it's their product, but other's do feel it's questionable.
Use it if you want, but we aren't permitting endless threads and posts about it anymore.
Again, Vlad didn't say the product ruins bags, just wanted to be honest w/ the Member's about the story behind it.

If you were referring to me, sorry about that. I just wanted to make sure people don't make assumptions that I might know them and that's why I have been answering threads about the product.

I've used SM on many bags and have been very, very happy with it. I also like appleguard, though find their spray to be a little heavier and greasier than SM.

I'm fully aware Vlad didn't say the product ruins the bags, but it sure looks like some members in here took it that way. I guess not everyone's comprehension level is up to par. No need to freak out if you recently purchased a can
