that's not necessary, just to save $8 shipping? cost me more for time and energy plus has to put makeup on, dress up etc just to drive there and meet someone, if for inexpensive things.
for the few sales I have had I've used priority flate rate boxes (they were handbags). Most of the stuff I've been buying lately has come in an envelope. As a seller, how do you know what packaging to use? could it cost me if I use a box when an evelope would suffice?
It won't cost you to use a box. I almost always use a box when shipping on PM. The package needs to weigh less than 5 pounds. There might be restrictions in the size of the box but I've never had that problem. I would imagine those sellers that are using envelopes either don't have a small enough box or they sell on other sites too and prepackage their stuff. On PM, I'll use a small flat rate box for something small. For the same item on Mercari, I'll use a padded envelope.
Hopefully she appreciates the privacy of not having to meet in person. I worry that she'll feel like her privacy has been invaded because she now knows that I know where she lives and am close enough to do something about it.

How long do you wait to contact PM CS or USPS when an expensive item is still out for delivery? This item was out for delivery two days ago and still has not scanned a delivery. The email I received from USPS says" Your package has a delivery exception. The delivery status of your item has not been updated as of October 13, 2023, 2:32 am. We apologize that it may arrive later than expected." This is signature confirmation too. How do I know if the postal worker forgot to scan it. There are some postal workers that are either too rushed and forget to scan or their scanner might not be working. I cannot lose my $650 item(I accepted the buyers offer of $459) and my money. I sure hope they did not lose my item or the buyer could have signed, but their scanner did not work.
I think I would contact USPS first although it is often hard to find someone to talk to there. Try to find the phone number of the local zip code where the buyer lives. Calling the 800 number is a waste of time.
I just called this buyers apartment building. I spoke to the front desk and they said mail will be delivered to the front desk. If someone is not there they just leave the mail. I did not give him the buyers name of apt number. I will try calling the post office tomorrow or Monday. I hope the postal clerk did not just leave all of the mail and the front desk and not get a scan.
By the way, I think there is something wrong with Posh's mail tracking. I shipped a package yesterday, it was scanned when picked up and it is in the USPS system but Posh isn't showing tracking for it in my orders.
Did you specifically ask about packages? When my daughter lived in NYC, her building didn't have a doorman so packages were delivered to a different building that did have a doorman. Once I had an ebay purchase shipped to her and the doorman told the letter carrier that she didn't live there so it was returned to the sender.
I'm so mad! I was hoping it would have been updated this morning. I just called the post office and spoke to one of the managers. She is going to look into this. She put me on hold and called the postal worker for that apartment building. He said he did drop off this package on Tuesday, but there was alot of packages so he gave them to the front desk. The manager said sometimes they don't scan every package! But he is going to go back to that apartment today or Monday to see if it's still there. OMG, I will be so mad if this buyer lies and got the package. I don't like it that this buyer saw my message and did not even say anything. I sure hope she isn't hoping she can just keep this brand new designer jacket and get refunded too. Most honest buyers would have responded and said I received the jacket.
