Thank you! That’s what I’m thinkingUnless I am not concerned about being scammed, and willing to lose the item completely or even have it damaged, I go through Fashionphile or other consignment shops. The lower amount makes up for the lower stress and my sanity.
I sell almost all my bags to FP for this reason. I've had issues on the buying side, but selling I have never had an issue and it's super straightforward. I only sell in person though at their SD Flagship, so I can't speak too much about mailing in. The 10% store credit option is also nice if you get an unexpectedly high quote and can purchase a different bag in person.Unless I am not concerned about being scammed, and willing to lose the item completely or even have it damaged, I go through Fashionphile or other consignment shops. Damn just when I thought things were improving, I read about this experienceI had a long day at Fashionphile Carlsbad yesterday that was bitter sweet. I got decent quotes on my items I sold however the bag I was considering on buying that was marked medium excellent should have been at mid shows wear, imo. The description stated it had faint scratches on the hardware. Not! It had moderate to heavy scratches on both turnlocks. The description said protective stickers intact however there were NONE on both turnlocks (Fendi Peekaboo). Those locks were scratched up! It's misleading to mention the stickers are intact when the hardware has heavy scratches. Also the mid partition was flimsy as heck! No structure, that was not mentioned. Another thing, the interior suede lining at the corner top partition was lifting and not bonded to the frame. Those 3 things, which are not minor, were not disclosed. I mentioned this to one of the lovely SAs there and ask if the price could be lowered to relect the condition. She brought it up to that department. I was there at 10am and left at 2pm for the outcome of this....they agreed the listing was not accurate nor the condition so they changed the condition from mid excellent to low excellent HOWEVER they did not feel inclined to lower the price to relect this change. They kept the price the same as if it was mid excellent even though they changed it to low excellent (but imo it was in the shows wear category). I was somewhat shocked and insulted. Lol. I was also in disbelief. I think pretty highly of FP but this really showed me a different side and lack of customer service. Who does this type of practice? I've never experienced this before. If an item is not as described, the price is usually lowered to make up for it. Rebag does it and The Real Real does it. That is two major resellers. Anyway, I did buy the bag but do feel I paid too much for the condition it was in. They could have knocked off as low as $100 and have a happy customer. They still would make their profit at the end of the day. Just crazy to me how they lowered the condition but didnt feel incline to adjust the price to reflect that, even a little bit and have a happy client vs a bitter sweet client. Lol. No one made me buy the bag, I get it, but still I thought Fashionphile would do better then that. I sent in a complaint regarding my experience from yesterday. Let's see if Fashionphile uses this opportunity to make it right. I believe in second chances. Make it right FP! Im rooting for you!![]()
Yes very bizarre isn't it? I would like to think they actually care about making things right for their customers, and maybe they do, but I can only speak about my experience, which was pretty bad in this case. Excellent customer service should happen in all situations. Nordstrom is known for their customer service. What is FP known for, just for what they sell? What about being known for outstanding customer service? I agree, customer service IS the cornerstone of the luxury experience! FP is a luxury reseller. Anyway Im not here to bash but just to share my experience with others. I do work with lovely SAs and I do feel FP is a great company but their customer service and customer satisfaction needs some work! Lol. When I think about them downgrading the condition of the bag but NOT downgrading the price, Im still in disbelief! Lol. Anyway I'll keep you all updated if you all are interested in knowing if they come thru or not.Damn just when I thought things were improving, I read about this experience
I mean even if they felt the condition was the same, for you to take the time to wait around, even go have lunch on their suggestion, and not offer anything is disappointing. I know they are a business, but customer service is a cornerstone of the luxury experience.
The fact that they DID lower the condition and not the price is bizarre to me. Sorry this happened to you, I hope they make it right and offer a price reduction!
I sold very few this year to FP, simply because their quotes were so low, even lower than other consignments for buyout, and I am a seasoned buyer & seller, all stuffs I bought are best brands and popular items in very good to like new or even brand new conditions. I would not sell on my own if I don't have to, but lately I did, such as I sold a bag on ebay which I made $700 profit after all selling fees, if I had sold the same bag to FP, I would had lost $166.I sell almost all my bags to FP for this reason. I think the item (the bag) you bought might be a popular item in good enough condition, if you didn't buy, they pretty sure others would bought, besides, being a business, especially on resale, it's best for the business don't negotiate with buyers, otherwise would open a whole can of worm. Just my guess. And I probably wouldn't negotiate with my buyers either unless it is something I have no confidence to sell, then I would get rid of it even if lose money (knock the wood).Yes very bizarre isn't it? Yes it was in good enough condition to buy, however the condition was not as described so it no longer matched the price. When an item is not as described companies usually will offer a discount. For them to lower the condition but not lower the price just doesn't set well with me and I can't see this being very favorable for them in the long run if they make this a practice on how they run the company. There will always be someone that will buy, but how long will the wait be? Running a business needs to be profitable, however you need to also value your clients, because at the end of the day, we can always go elsewhere. Im wondering if this bag was sold previously by FP and months later the owner sold it back to FP and FP just used the original listing instead of updating it which will explain the discripencies I had. FP is usually pretty good with matching the condition to the bag. I say this because there was a bag I wanted that sold, and months later it was posted back on FP. Same listing, same pics. Nothing was updated. I know this as I took snap shots of the original listing. So if there was new wear and tear on that bag, the condition and description will not match up.I think the item (the bag) you bought might be a popular item in good enough condition, if you didn't buy, they pretty sure others would bought, besides, being a business, especially on resale, it's best for the business don't negotiate with buyers, otherwise would open a whole can of worm. Yes that is what I was thinking as I experienced that before but who knows but FP and the previous owner. LolJust a theory: someone might have bought the bag from FP and used it in the past and returned and resold it to them again. FP might have just copy pasted the old description. Previous customer might have removed the stickers, etc.
How much commission does eBay take?I sold very few this year to FP, simply because their quotes were so low, even lower than other consignments for buyout, and I am a seasoned buyer & seller, all stuffs I bought are best brands and popular items in very good to like new or even brand new conditions. I think with ebay and other platforms evolve themselves to support honest buyers and sellers, all consignments are going to facing tougher competitions, even a person like me who has been catered to selling to consignments now starts selling on ebay, not I like to, simply because I can't afford to lose money on items obviously can make money.
