I wouldn't mind Chanel except they don't stand behind their products so I'm worried about having problems with this bag long term plus the plate on the hardware is not really gold anymore. I saw some bags only a year old on FP and TRR with tarnished hardware. ummm,okay. I think I am returning it now for sure, I listed the cons and its pretty substantial. :sad:

To my knowledge, Chanel now has 5 year warranty fir bags.

I wouldn’t - I had an over 10 year Hermes journey and am now back at Chanel. I am so glad I never sold my CF bags because they’re still in fashion and I bought them when they were only a couple thousand versus now over $5K. I did sell all my seasonal Chanels for Hermes but kept the classics. That’s my philosophy for all brands, sell the seasonals for other bags but not the classics.

If you plan on repurchasing the CF in the future, probably don't sell because prices will only go higher. It'll be exhaustive if they get to Hermes level prices. If not repurchasing, then you will have to decide if you'll be happy without a CF and with a birkin... I'd almost say to keep both if you can see yourself missing the CF in the future. They're both very different bags with different holes to fill in your closet?

-Silver hardware. I gravitate towards gold. They didn’t have gold hardware available at the time
-Never really liked the strap drop on me
-Prefer the look of caviar with classic flaps

Reasons why I’m hesitating on selling
-Sentimental reasons as above
-Chanel price increases and the possibility one day my tastes will change and I will wear/want this bag again

What would you do? Sell or keep?!

First, what Hermes bag will you buy instead? Are you sure you'll use that one more often?
Second, before you sell, force yourself to use that bag daily for at least a week. Then decide.

This is excellent advice- force yourself to use it for a week before you decide. I never thought to do this!!!!! I’m going to give this a go with items I’m considering purging.

Keep. Sellers remorse is real, tastes change and it’s a forever bag. And I say this having sold my chanel bags in 2008 to fund Hermes.

SHW is good to have in a collection....sometime tastes change. I’m usually a GHW gal, too, but I have been reaching for SHW for its “crispness” as of late.

I totally agree with “taste changes” that’s why I never sell ANY of my classics even I don’t use them as I much as I would love to.. I’ve definitely gone through phases of GHW then SHW..
My black classic flap/SHW which I bought in 2017 for 4700$ (?) is not being used alot nowadays but selling it especially with the current price might be a huge regret later! I hope this helps :smile:

Edit: OP, Just saw that you sold the bag. Glad you were able to do with no regrets :yes:

I made a mistake of selling a classic early this year.. i was not using it. However, i felt so sad after letting it go that i bought a new one at new price. Such waste of money. I wish i never sold it at the first place.

I promised myself to never sell any classic.. I know I’ll be able to use those for years, pass it on to my daughter and if after ages I decided I won’t use I can always sell and the price will be higher and higher..
