Secret Tips for Caring For Your Celine

Hi everyone, I'm new to purseforum. I have a small problem with my black celine mini luggage purchased around 11 months ago. The inner part of the handles where it meets the top of the bag is wearing off, most likely due to abrasion. I hadn't noticed it until 3 days ago and I'm fairly sure it happened only recently. I called Celine and they said they cannot help because I purchased my bag on Reebonz, so I should contact them instead. Contact them I did, and guess what? Reebonz said that they cannot help (would not even have their team examine my bag) because I purchased it more than 6 months ago. I'm not sure what logic this is but I am terribly annoyed. Can anyone advise me on what I should do now? Here are some pics.

You might be able to try some leather repair shops...I don't know where you live but there are a few reputable companies that people use in New York. I know they do a lot of cleaning and restoration of bags....almost bringing them back to life.

There's a lot of info on handle edge in balenciaga. You may want to check there for additional help. I second the suggestion of finding a bag repair place. There's also a product called edge kote that I've used on my bals.

Good luck.

I tried to PM you info but you don't have privileges yet. Do some more posting, commenting, replying and then I can try again.

I live in Singapore. So far I've found two repair shops but they haven't gotten back to me. Fingers crossed I'll get it settled soon, although I must say that the Celine customer rep was terrible

Ok....maybe try to contact bagaholicboy (also a blogger) as he's in Singapore and may be able to give you some leads. Not sure if the places here will cross borders! Good luck.

Hi everyone!
So I got caught in pouring rain with my Celine large trio. I was on a holiday so I wasn't very familiar with the unpredictable weather. I didn't put anything on my bag before hand so my bag got pretty wet on the side that was sticking out of the umbrella. After that situation, vein like creases started appearing on the corner. I have attached photos. I have applied leather conditioner as I thought the rain must have dried out the leather but it wasn't much help. Any advice on what else could be done to reduce the veins? Thank you =)

As expected, it's awful that no one can help. When lower brands stand by their products no matter where you purchase them, it's kind of sad to see this level of customer service. But you might try the Edge Kote yourself as mentioned. You can set it on Amazon and it's not too expensive. I bet you could do a good job yourself especially since I can't really see a way to repair it. Keep us posted.

Forgive me if there is a thread like this already, but I haven't seen one. I am starting this due to a recent discovery (yesterday, in fact!) that both relieved and delighted me!

There was a GREEN stain/spot on a VERY light-colored Celine Mini I have, and it is one I plan on selling. I had taken it to Nordstrom's to show Jane Yoon, my SA, and discovered the spot then. I FREAKED. The bag had been stored fpor quite a while, so I am not sure why it was there--it was faint, but STILL!

Jane briskly appears with a tissue dabbed with something on it, and wipes the bag. The spot disappears! I asked her what was on the tissue:

CHANEL EYE MAKEUP REMOVER!!!!

Turns out she had heard from a Celine rep that this works. . .they had been there just before my arrival.

So, I thought I would share that with you guys in case you ever had a similar scenario (God Forbid!)

The only other tip I have heard of (from you guys) is that carrying baby wipes is a good idea, as they can work wonders. I have never tried it, but a fellow member I found a bag for did. She said it was like magic!

Hope anyone who knows of other "secrets" or just common-sense knowledge about caring for different types of leather (pebbled, smooth) or styles of bags, and/or the interior/exterior of Celines will post. :smile1:

What type of baby wipes or does it matter?

What conditioner were you using and how many times did you apply? I had a similar situation and applied it several times and eventually it went back to normal...well 95% normal.

Also, I've read somewhere to re-wet the leather slightly and while the leather is a bit damp, apply leather conditioner, so it absorbs deep into the leather. Haven't not tried before, but if above solution doesn't work, this could be an option. Maybe try with a throw-away bag first before trying on Celine.

Hi, I just watersprayed my new Celine bullhide calfskin Phantom luggage with Pedag Waterproofer,
so far the color looks a bit darker,it's like having a light and thin coat on it, which I'm good with it, and the structure looks fine(fingercrossed), the hardware are like the same( forgot to cover it ><)

the only thing is the luxury smell is like gone, now I can only smell the waterproofer, like chemical, which makes me a little bit regret, but I know it's good for the bags(i live in Asia and Europe, if I need to avoid carrying my bag in the rainly days, the bag can stay in the wardrobe forever)....

will the original smell of leather come back after the chemical dry out ? anyone has the similar experience?

Hi everyone
This is the difference before and after waterspraying, I also did this on my Balenciaga which ended up looks darker and a bit dull. It's like a coat on the bag, my Celine leather feels differently stiffer and I hate to say I like the original texture before sparying, it feels more natural and soft.

the Pedag waterproofer is for the leather shoes and yet they said it's good for handbag as well...However this is my result, I am not posting the Balenciaga one here as the difference can be seen and touched only in real. I hope this "coat" comes off in some weeks or months:push::push::push: and I will not waterspray them again..

Had a similar issue on my 31 hour bag, about three times this has happened.
The rubber lining parts that way.
And i've done it several times too.
Use superglue!

be careful though, use toothpicks, and be very delicate because you don't want to accidentally superglue other parts of your bag.

Grab some superglue, like mighty bond or loc-tite, splooge some on some paper. dip the toothpicks into the superglue, and (gently!!!!!) hover over your bag handles, and stick it in. stick enough glue in and press the rubber in real good.

In a few minutes it'll bond, and then it'll disappear like it was never there.
I usually run my fingers to get any excess that splooges out. (okay to superglue my fingers instead of my bag!)

fingers with superglue can get cleaned out easily with some oil, just dry it out first.

just be careful and you'll feel like you did a great job afterwards. never had a mishap because I'm always careful.

(but sorry to the chipped off pieces... it just works for when the rubber flaps out...)
the chipped off pieces may be fixed by leather repair shops. it's some sort of rubber that needs to dry out...
