having just read through all the posts . . is it some what safe to say that madam milan is basically the only place that sells guaranteed authentic luxury bags ? i've been saving up to splurge on a bag but i can't decide if i should spend it all on a new bag from the boutiques or purchase 2 second-hand ones . .

anyone have any info on www.2nd-handbag.com located at:

Interesthing Shop

Buy & Sell

#02-32 The Adelphi
1 Coleman Street
(Opposite Funan Digitalife Mall)
Singapore 179803
Tel: + 65 - 633 77 146

I am interested in purchasing a bag from them but I am international and they only accept western union or bank wire. I am nervous to send that kind of payment unless the seller was really reputable. Also I noticed that their stuff is quite marked up from US retail. Can anyone offer me some advice on this seller?

TIA!

Sorry.. this is the first time I have heard of them?

The only experience I have had with consignment shops is with Madam Millan. Yes she sells authentic items... BUT I do not recommend selling your bags to her. She offers less than HALF the value of your bag. Also, the prices aren't exactly cheap. In the past I have sold my bags to her but regretted it tremendously! Also, when she states that a bag is... "95%" new it doesn't mean the age, she means the condition. Keep that in mind.

I saw their store before. Small shop. Walked past to ask abt the AppleGarde. Their Chanels are mainly kept in boxes (with Chanel exposing though) and keep in the display cabinet. They deal with 2nd hand bags but i think they might have someone getting stock from Europe n selling at retail price? i'm guessing

Madam Milan's profit margins are WAY huge

if u have not retained ur receipt; they will also go by the rule of assuming you had bought in the country that had the lowest prices for that brand i.e. Prada hawaii for Prada; Chanel paris for chanel.. but they will resell it at a pro rata of the prices in singapore boutiques.. (according to condition).. They don;t care if insist that you had bought in Singapore.

so they have a win-win and you lose as much as possible...

haha

imo, the only thing gg for their shops (especially the one at Raffles Place) is location and hence, better traffic flow and higher turnover.

of course.. but i mean the receipts..

i have checked with some shops which don't care abt the receipts.. haha, but they actually value your bags at Sg prices.. and resell at pro rata to condition, at SG prices

-Yeah, I contacted the same website www.2nd-handbag.com to see if they would purchase another Chanel of mine so I could put the funds towards this other bag....they offered me a really LOW price!

-I think you might be right! For me the bags seem overpriced because i'm going by US retail but maybe they are just charging singapore retail price? Laneige: did they seem reputable from the look of the store? I like the fact that it sounds like everything is nicely displayed!

-I know they are but unfortunetly being a MPRS does not mean much nowadays....since the reputation of My Poupette has gone down the drain.

i went there ard late oct 09. there's another shop next to them, selling obviously very used luxury bags hehehhee. If u compare both, of course interesting shop is better (shop front)

anyway this interesting shop, just abt the size of a master bedroom size shop...

it has few shelvings with the LVs, Chanel (mainly LV) on display right next to the window shopping glass panel. THen inside, they have one or 2 small showcases cabinet (like showcase accessories) for the small items (hope didnt get it wrong).

Then on the left of the entrance, also 1 small cupboard i think for the Chanels thats in the boxes. I think price tag was shown as well along with the Chanel sitting in their individual boxes. But just a few pcs only. think less than 5. Right of the shop, one to 2 shelves for other brands.

Some of the LV are really new and the Chanel too. Didnt really check out the items because at that time i am totally not interested in 2nd hand items. More interested in AppleGarde.:p

I think their place sells mainly LV , some Gucci and Chanels too. Oh and few Prada or Miumiu.

i find their Chanel pricing steep too from their website. Its really like SG boutique pricing .......

btw from the description, do u think they are reputable hehehhee. I dont know. Thats why i described the shop. Anyway they sell APpleGarde so the guy said that customers left their bags (mainly LV) for them to spray if they choose to.

^Thanks Laneige!

I started a thread on the LV side and hopefully someone will be able to share their experience. I need some reassurance that I can trust them first...I wonder why they don't take paypal?

my personal experience with 2nd hand shop in Singapore is that Madam Milan offers "competitive" price vs other 2nd hand shops (competitive = best price, although all prices are low :sweatdrop:). however the thing to note is madam milan actually have a consignment period. if no one buys your bag within the time frame u will either have to take your bag back or consigned at an even lower price.

i've not visited the interesthing shop but inquired about selling a chanel bag. the price they quote is on par (& even lower) than madam milan ... but the difference is probably interesthing pays cash (ie buy it off, not consigned). some designer brands interesthing will not buy, to consigned u actually need to pay them :faint: and of course no guarantee your item will sell.

if anyone has better experience (eg price) with other 2nd hand shop do share
