I'm a regular customer of Astar. maybe u girls can check them out. They got 3 outlets in singapore, so i think they are quite reputable. So far i don't see any complains about them in forums. Another place i frequent is madam milan. =)

Some Astar's bags' authenticity are questionable. a friend bought a Gucci last year turned out to be a fake when she tried to send to Gucci to repair but not accepted. The prinicple to buy from 2nd-hand shops is to check if the shop owners are knowledgeable themselves to verify authenticity or you yourself has done homework :)

oh. so far i bought from Astar no prob. My friend bought from orchard plaza which is the one beside OG. She found out that its fake after she bring it to boutique. but she don't dare go confront them. I guess some seller they themselve also don't know how to see authenticity, so its safer to buy those that have receipt. haha.

Have you got all your bags bought from Astar verified? My friend thot so the bag has no issue too till she sent in to the boutique for repair since the strap came off. The one at Orchard Plaza is known to sell only authentic designer bags even among the competitors. They have an ebay store for a few years now and they have 100% positive feedback record. If they sell fakes, they will be taken down from ebay long ago. From the feedbacks, you can see they sell only authentic branded bags/accessories. If your friend really got a fake, she would have gone back to the shop since they have money back guarantee on authenticity (as long as she can provides the store manager's name who did the verification and they confirm it, this policy of the shop is written on their receipt), why would she not dare if she has 'witness'? I doubt your friend is telling the truth since the boutiques in Singapore do not do verifications in the first place, unless you are sending in for repairs). Likely, she must be misguided from some untrained friends. These days, even with receipts, it does not guarantee the item itself is authentic. I bought one LV bag from a US seller last year which come with the store receipt. The bag was authenticated at Mypoupette to be a fake (actually was told the receipt is not original either!). Some brand houses modify the spare parts/motifs placement they use in certain models (eg. LV, Chanel, Gucci, Prada and even Balenciaga) over the years. Some buyers who are not trained or have limited knowledge usually panicked and cried wolf when they receive an authentic bag with certain features they found different from what they think it should be (just because the brand house happened to modify). Hehe, this is speaking from my own experience. I once panicked when i discover the Chanel medallion tote bag i bought from a reseller, has the inside zipped pocket and patch pocket positioning switched (in my knowledge the zipped pocket is supposed to be near me when i carry instead of the patch pocket). After i seek the opinions of the Tpf Chanel experts here, i was told this model does have the pockets in switched positions depending on which year it was produced. It was verified as authentic after i posted pics here. I was so relieved ...So, lets shop with open eyes and wisdom and not jump into any conclusion before doing our homeworks ;). Sorry for the long postings, just wanted to share some of my shopping experiences since i love branded bags....

A receipt doesn't mean it authenticity.

As a buyer u shld know wat you are buying. If u do have doubt jus don't buy it.

Astar @ Thomson is one of my fav store especially the friendly owner Ivy.

Everyone learn from experience....... no one can really be 100% knowledgeable based on all the different style & brands avaliable .

I mean if u found some bags questionable u may share ur view with the store owner.

Nowadays the replica designer bag is so real i wld jus go WOW...... They jus come with everythngs u bought from the boutique..... from dustbag, authencity card, care booklet and well i saw a Chanel with even a hologram in it........ :cursing:

If u found your bought a fake bag from a secondhand store i believe they will be glad to give u a refund.

Ah yes i noe Ivy too. yes she is nice haha. The lady boss at far east 3rd floor is nice too. but got no idea of the shop name. Ladies who bought from 2nd hand store, may i know does they give large discount often or small? thks

Sometime it depends on the item u buy and how often u buy from the store..... ranging b'ween 200-30bucks and of course ur bargaining power

I've never heard of Astar, but sounds like they have some nice things, albeit better to check carefully for authenticity.. Can I know where are they located? Which branch has the largest selection of bags?

i had only been to their thomson plaza and raffle the arcade outlet. Thomson have more varieties while raffles have more new bags i think.
cooLesThing, do you have any other outlet to recommend for me? hehe
