Well, actually the folded ones are from someone else's system. My problem with folding is the following. Think of a counter at Neiman's/ wherever. It takes up a lot of space and there are only 100 scarves in there.

So, the folded approach does not allow for storing BILLIONS

Also, a wrinkled/previously worn scarf does not fold as neatly:tdown:

wow, marietouchet. i love the way you folded those scarves the way the stores do.
I think I have OCD ... haha ... and I love to organise my stuff in colours, and in order.

However, I only have a few scarves. Maybe I should get similar folders with binder ring holes on their sides, and ring them up in a file. That way, the folders are straight and pressed. Going to try that out soon !

Thanks for the idea =)

You can use envelopes as small as 10 in on a side. You could go as small as 10 x 10 in sq for a 90 cm carre. But, I've never found square envelopes in that size. So, you'll probably wind up with a rectangle eg 11.5 x 10. Just pick boards that are at least 1/2 smaller eg 11 x 9.5

Unbelievable!!! I was just attempting to organize all my beauties and God was truly looking down on me. This is an amazing idea and I just have one question. What size of envelope and stiffener did you order. I am waiting with bated breath to place my order NOW!!!

I put little flags on the side of envelopes - like they do with folders at the doctor's office to avoid misfiling

I file the scarves all by color - pink, purple, red etc

Marie, thank you for sharing the pics. :smile1:

Do you know of a website that has the clear envelopes that you are using?

Also, what is the fourth carre in this pic? I recognize Triomphe Paladin, Fetes Venetiennes, A Cor & a Cri, then ???

Another suggestion...

I keep my scarves in their boxes but bought one of those Brother sticker machines and have printed out the name of the scarf plus colour and attached that to the side of the box e.g. Marwari - Petrol. Marwari - Orange. That way I can find the scarf I'm after in seconds.

Wouldn't work if you had hundreds of scarves but for the 20 or so I own, works a treat!:roflmfao:

i've been tweaking this system and finally arrived at something that works JUST the way i need it to. i have to see the buggers in order to pick one, but i also wanted storage materials that wouldn't damage the silk. the solution was archival window envelopes and stiffener boards -- fold the scarf and place it over the stiffener board, insert into an envelope and arrange file-style in a basket. (OK, more than one basket -- but i'm NOT telling how many! )
