I can see my scarves easily to wear them. I would like it better “visually” if I didn’t line the drawers with archival tissue paper, but no one sees them but me with where they are behind a curtain. I throw a sheet of archival tissue in between every couple scarves to help with the slipping. And with Foxys talk of boxes, all of mine get thrown into dead storage space in the eave. I write in pencil on the inside of the box with the name of the scarf that came in it. I think I only keep them for when I re-home. But have often thought why bother.

below are my holiday scarves ( w my autumn Tourbillons in there too) and moussies. Some are other brands. Carolina H ( the bunnies for easter) and a Spade I think ( the hearts for valentines). Don’t think I have shared my Fantaisie Pittoresque, tho I have worn it a bunch.

below are my twillys. I think maybe two in here have not been worn. The two pink amoureux. I apparently reach for pink rive droit when in a pink mood.

Below is my color sorting w my 90’s. This is my browns-softer colors-neutral colors drawer with my 3 super duper spring-like summer flower scarves on the edge. I think I put them here bc these florals feel softly feminine. I’m happy to say I have showcased on Tpf all scarves in this drawer except for my new to me white hem Samourais. Will remedy.

below is my brighter multi color drawer with pinks, purples, oranges. I have showcased on tpf all in this drawer except for my Jardin d’hiver and kimonos. I will remedy.

My 70’s are laid on top of its respective color family drawer. I don’t have many so it’s fine they lay on top.
My other drawers are:
1/ scarves with any defined red in it.
2/ blue heavy or blue based scarves.
3/ scarves with more black and greys.
4/ my csgm’s
5/ my gavs
And that’s all folks. :rochard:

Thanks so much cheddar cheese. I would say the one drawback is that my approach relies heavily on having the boxes. I do a fair amount of shopping via resellers and the lack of box is a huge deterrent for me. If I have to have a piece and it has no box I’ve gone ahead and pulled the trigger and just either 1. Asked my SA for an extra box here and there (I try not to do this so often) 2. If I purchase a gav I have my SA put it in 90cm box so then I have a box because I don’t store gavs in their boxes. They’re for my daughter and she keeps them with her socks to pull out whenever. 3. Tried to buy boxes off poshmark if the price is reasonable (under $20) 4. Relied on any fellow scarfies purging boxes 5. Double up scarves into the same box and note that it’s stored that way. For example I own two colorways of space shopping- one came without a box and is currently stored with its sister colorway. 6. If all else fails, it goes on a hanger until I can do 1-5 and get it in a box. Confused yet haha?

Really great solid information Foxy trini!
Will print this out and save with my Hermes scarf info.

Very much appreciated!

Just so you know, this was my storage system but I got the hebe jebies one night that any faint fumes (can’t smell anything but you never know) from the mahogany might somehow do damage to the silks & cashmere, I pulled everything out.
Gave everything a good airing then stacked into these food grade plastic containers w/ acids paper underneath.

I solved my problem of piles of more than 8 orange boxes by buying a cheap cubby hole system from Amazon
Here are examples, easy to assemble, and I can put 8 boxes in a cubby
I love this system Marie! Thanks so much for sharing. This would put mine all at eye level versus step stool level. The challenge is where I’d even find the floor space !

Nomad your collection is gobsmackingly beautiful. I’ve been playing spot the scarf design with these pics. I do love how you can see it all, and that’s my goal one day to have that ability it’s way easier to get dressed I think. Where is the paper purchased? Amazon? I could use some for the box-less lot. Thanks!

Ahh cheddar you have that lovely ability like @Nomad to see your pieces. Lovely collection and I totally understand the anxiety over these little pieces of art. I have some concern that shower steam somehow will get to the boxes from the master bath off from the closet. I’ve not noted anything but I think I need to do an airing exercise like you did for my scarves and purses. Thanks for sharing !

The cubbies are very lightweight and easy to assemble on the floor and hoist up to top shelf of closet

i have had mine for years , and take them apart and redesign my closet every so often when I have more/less purses and scarves

tissue paper as dividers, flimsy, not rigid enough for me
you can replace with archival quality cardboard, from any archival store , that is a green approach
OR I found rigid plastic cards, about 5 in tall and 8 in long, at Amazon and use them as dividers, I put a label at the top , removable label of course so I can change my mind
if there is an interest I can take photos of mine and find on Amazon

as always sorry for my typing, spelling checkers and I have a love hate relationship

Thank your Nomad!

Better play safe. Can you get a humidity monitor from a hardware store so you can keep a running check on humidity?

Short term your treasures are ok but long term might be different.

Grew up in a very old very damp house. Anything that came out of there had a particular faint odour.

You can buy packets of desiccants from ULINE & hardware stores. If they get damp you will know you have a problem, then you can deal with it by drying out the desiccant & reusing.

yes Marie these are great! Very smart to lesson the stacking. I use them behind my staircase so I can configure how I like and maximize the odd space. There is SO many uses for these. Random note- I used these to make a running pen for our bunny haha. Tied them together with zip ties lol

Awe thank you! N oh believe me Foxy I love playing guess the design! I wish some weren’t hidden, but they do hide ://. Amazon-TheLinenLady is who I get the acid free paper from on there. She has a 75 sheet package.

marie YES! Can you share both of those with us. That makes so much more sense. For sure the tissue isn’t ideal but did create a wee bit less sliding. N I relate to the spelling etc. This site doesn‘t work like others. I get mangled writing all the time. It does weird things with hitting the back button to correct spelling and then mangling it more lol.

Great idea! I am used to old houses. This one is 1927 and the house I grew up in is 1933. We are used to using any moisture soaking product on the market. I have those tubs everywhere. I sometimes use the desiccant packets in closets. Container store has the closet packets.
