@papertiger not sure this is a curation post as I’ve culled nothing lol but maybe it’s a storage post instead? I followed the link you provided over in SOTD to answer @Julide on how the labels work. Please move as you deem appropriate.
@Julide the labels are size then number and correspond to a massive google sheet I keep that has the details. When I want to find a scarf I pull up the google sheet on my phone or iPad and I determine the number to pull. My own Dewey decimal system, if you will.Or if I have picked my clothes first and I know something red is needed I search by colors and then pull the scarf that way. I live in the city in a modest townhouse so storage space is at a premium. It was built in 1921 and hasn’t been majorly updated into a slick all open floor plan kind of space (yet, maybe someday). Back to the system - so a 140 would be labeled 140-001 if it’s the first, 70 would be 70-001 , 90 would be 90-001, 100 would be 100-01 etc. I need to create an artist column, as well as a purchase price column/ replacement value if that ever becomes relevant. Attaching a snip of the google sheet, it’s a lot longer lol
Awww shucks bunny, thank you kindlyI bow to your organizational abilities Foxy T!![]()
What a great and unique idea foxy! Love that you created your own system! Are you able to sort by colour as well as artist? I really need to organize my scarves. Looks great. I wonder if the scarfs ”like” to stay uppright. Have you noticed any wrinkles or other deformation? Thanks so much julide. I go back and forth with it because sometimes I do wish the labels had the scarf names on them, but the type A personality I have would hate that the labels would no longer be standardized across the group. We have an old iPad that no one uses so I’ve started leaving it in the closet to specifically pull up my scarf catalogue. My dream closet rebuild has the faceless draws like H with all scarves loosely folded. Most importantly, no more orange boxes ! (Said like Joan Crawford in mommy dearest- no more wire hangers)!! I have some work to do on the google sheet it’s basically google’s version of Microsoft excel. I need to add the artist name and yes you can sort and create filters and pivot tables to manipulate the data a number of ways. I plan for 2022 to add in a usage element so I can measure how often (or not) I’m wearing a piece. I do like the visual element of the style app that @blydia uses but I’m way too lazy to photograph 100+ scarves and all of my clothes and shoes to create outfits. Maybe someday? What a great and unique idea foxy! Love that you created your own system! Are you able to sort by colour as well as artist? I really need to organize my scarves. Do you normally know what type of scarf size you want to wear with your outfits? If you have a 140 mousseline is it in the same category as a 140 silk and a 140 silk cashmere? Apologies for the questions. I find this system wonderful!

Hi pampelmuse! They are flat in their boxes at the top of our master closet. I have appropriated all of the top shelves (his & hers) for my scarves and bags. DH is allowed the hall closet for his bits and bobs that aren’t on hangers haha. Nothing noticed so far (I only started collecting 2 years ago) but I do worry about how many boxes I can reasonably stack before the sheer weight of a stack is too much for those boxes at the base.Looks great. I wonder if the scarfs ”like” to stay uppright. Have you noticed any wrinkles or other deformation? TIA!
Thanks so much cheddar cheese. I would say the one drawback is that my approach relies heavily on having the boxes. I do a fair amount of shopping via resellers and the lack of box is a huge deterrent for me. If I have to have a piece and it has no box I’ve gone ahead and pulled the trigger and just either 1. Asked my SA for an extra box here and there (I try not to do this so often) 2. If I purchase a gav I have my SA put it in 90cm box so then I have a box because I don’t store gavs in their boxes. They’re for my daughter and she keeps them with her socks to pull out whenever. 3. Tried to buy boxes off poshmark if the price is reasonable (under $20) 4. Relied on any fellow scarfies purging boxes 5. Double up scarves into the same box and note that it’s stored that way. For example I own two colorways of space shopping- one came without a box and is currently stored with its sister colorway. 6. If all else fails, it goes on a hanger until I can do 1-5 and get it in a box. Confused yet haha?In complete & utter awe of your organization skills!
So many great ideas here!
I’ll be adopting a version.
Thanks for the overview!
Right you are holsby! Thank you for clarifyingHi Pampelmuse, great to "see" you and I are posting at the same time now when we cannot see each other live.
To me it looks like the scarves are stored flat on the top shelf in a wardrobe.
This just made my day Hermes hope! Thank you so so much. Btw I loved your premier chant with the purple navy top. You look great! As a retired librarian, I heartily approve of your wonderful system!
I hate having more than 8 orange boxes, one on top of another@papertiger not sure this is a curation post as I’ve culled nothing lol but maybe it’s a storage post instead? I followed the link you provided over in SOTD to answer @Julide on how the labels work. Please move as you deem appropriate.
