i would like to try it out as well but does the clear plastic sleeve work in humid areas? doesn't the seal plastic sleeves cause moisture build up in the envelope which can be damaging to silk?

would love to hear people with similar experiences!

I just visit the site [where I believed dressage queen bought her boards and envelopes] and really like this Keep Safe Hanging File Bags [Made from preservation quality polyethylene, bags are acid free, moisture resistant, see-thru and fit existing files. Pleated for expansion and storage of three-dimensional objects] that can be stored in a rolling file cabinet !!! perfect ! http://www.hollingermetaledge.com/modules/store/index.html?dept=15&cat=465&cart=126758244318766263

I would certainly implement this when I accumulate over 30 scarves [when I probably run out of drawer space] !

Just stumbled into this thread - brilliant! Bumping it up so that a few more innocents can profit from the wealth of ideas here.
Thanks to everyone who posted pics!

I purchased the Office Depot version of the envelope above. I think they are the same type of product, although the Office Depot ones just say archival quality on it. I put my everyday H scarves in it-the ones I am most frequently wearing. I have not put the mousseline GMs in-as they are delicate and I want to keep them in their boxes. All the twills, cashmere GMs, and twillies work well in the pouches. There is expansion at the bottom of the pouches and tiny breathing holes on the sides and tops to allow for circulation. After wearing a scarf for the day, I let it air out for a few hours before packing it into the envelope. You can also leave it unzipped. The zipper is a gentle glider similar to the zip lock bags and they glide or you can simply seal it by closing the two sides together. So far I have been using this system for about a week and I keep them in a white desk file holder on a side table in my bedroom. I will post pics when I get a chance to share. I prefer that some of my scarves have an acid free backer, easily available at an art supply store, I cut them down to around 8.25" x 11" to fit inside the envelope. It is a bit of a tight fit on the 9.25" side of the pouch to fit the normal H scarf, which folds down to 9" x 9" (the standard H box size). On most on the twills I fold it over once more to avoid it scrunching up in the pouch, but the vintage ones fit fine. The cashmere GM's I also have to fold down to the pouch size, but they seem to do best without the stiffeners. In any case, if you have a lot of scarves, over ten say, this is a great system. I would love to hear from the originators of this system if they are still using it and if there have been any problems? It is a great idea!;)

i sure do still store my scarves this way! my only complaint is that the envelopes are designed for papers and really not quite roomy enough ~ the scarves still fit in, but over time the expansion causes the windows portions to separate a bit at attachment points. i just reattached with archival clear tape on the exterior, and it's back in business!

the clear envelopes are an excellent modification, particularly because it looks like they have that smidge more width that i would have liked in mine.

Here are the photos of the system-I think they are pretty similar to Anything Hermes photos-but here are mine. I purchased the poly envelopes from Office Depot and the desk filer from Container Store. Hope this helps everyone.:D

Ooh, lanit,
I spy a Kelly en Perles - I have it in white with red and blue!

Great pics of your storage system, and I love how compact and orderly it is. Thank-you for showing how you do it. I feel inspired to try this now!
