Well, I’m gonna post about the scarves I least like. They were both inherited scarves so I treasure them for sentimental reasons but don’t ever reach out for them. The Brides de Gala is special to me because It was a special hand-me-down and because of its original issue date (1957) which is my birth year. I think the problem is the light blue borders, which worked wonderfully on a darker complexion and hair color but not so much on me. I find myself fiddling around with with BdG to hide the borders and show some of the grey. I don’t much care for the overall pattern of the Tambours but the worst part is the expanse of light blue! Regarding the BdG, I’ve been thinking about stopping by my Hermes boutique and taking a look at the new Tattuage with the Abeille jacquard in a bold color or the BdG Love, just to own a BdG that I would enjoy wearing more than this one. Anyway, here they both are.
I think the light blue looks nice with your warm complexion. Perhaps you would like it better over a darker top like navy blue or black. I find that contrast always looks the best.

I have a transformed scarf to share. I bought an old cw of Sangles quite deliberately about a year ago. It was the very first H scarf I ever saw, back when I was an awkward teen in Hawaii. I remember walking along Waikiki with my BFF, who has always been a sophisticated beauty, and we came upon a billboard that showed a picture of this scarf just fluttering in the wind.
I turned to my friend and said, "That is just hideous. I don't understand the point of scarves!"

Obviously, I had no idea what I was talking about. I bought this scarf to remind myself of the old adage that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

(Believe it or not, I had a similar moment with Birkins after that episode of Sex in the City aired many years ago - "ugh, I don't understand the appeal of Birkins. They're not very pretty." I am a self-admitted dolt!)

Now, even with this all said, this cw was just OK. Here's what it looked like in its original state:

Lots o' primary colors. I didn't reach for it much. Then Hermesmatic blew into town and after one dip in denim blue, it looked like this:View attachment 3893054

Ooh, so much nicer! But I was curious about what another dip in violet would do, so back it went. The folks at Hermesmatic were incredibly obliging. Now it looks like this:

I'm very, very happy with this experiment!

Beautiful! Love the result, it almost looks changeant.

SOTD - Washington's Carriage bandana. I'm not loving this bandana as much as I hoped to. The silk is very heavy and the white just too bright for my taste. I don't mind it so much tucked into a black v-neck sweater but tied like this, with the tails swinging, I'm feeling "meh" on this purchase.

I think it looks great like this!

My SOTD: Mont Sanct Michel.
If you know me at all you know I love medieval stuff. This scarf is impossible to find under 4 figures!! But I finally found one, not in good shape (you can see the detached hem). What was I thinking? I was thinking to frame it and hang on the wall (but the colors are not a vivid as some CWs. Instead I took it out to photograph today for you all, and decided to wear it with y new moto. LOL. Second picture is too puffy, but shows the green. Final picture is me going out the door. Red corduroy jeans and black booties. View attachment 3892745View attachment 3892746View attachment 3892748
Very interesting scarf. I have never seen it before anywhere. I think I would fix the hem because it would drive me crazy. Love how you put the outfit together.

I am so thrilled to be joining this thread today with my very first H scarf! I purchased this Jardin a Sintra silk beauty yesterday in the rouge/bleu/vert cw and I am so excited to wear it today. My lovely SA showed me this simple technique for folding, but I am also excited to play with the book of cards he gave me to learn more variations.

"Hi!!" from another scarf newbie! The scarf looks beautiful. And from one noob to another...just watch out for the irresistible urge to go from one scarf to an entire collection in a matter of weeks . My evilbay watchlist is so full I can't add to it anymore. And now, with the SS 2018 scarf photos posted yesterday and today....I am TOAST.

Ditch the hat fast. This is not the merry, confident look of the bobkat we all know and loving, posing in her shawls and picotins.
eagle1002us, you think the same way I do about the hat....thank you for your advice!

I saw what papertiger had written. She could be right. But maybe pulling some strands of hair around your face to soften the look would be more relaxed and feminine. I have the same prob with hats insofar as hair is long and fine hair goes stringy quickly. A hat with a high crown with fairly narrow brim does work for me, with hair pulled up and fairly hidden.
papertiger caused me to rethink my original impulse - which was to put the hat into a rehome pile. My hair is long and fine and thin. My hair was pulled back into a low ponytail for this picture.

You do!!!!!!! Listen to PT.
Thank you, Pirula.
I agree with this. The brights look good on you.
You are sweet, gracekelly!

All.....I am enjoying this week very much. It just goes to show that a) we can all put a foot wrong now and then, and b) occasionally we may be more self critical than necessary. This week is like having sisters all over the world to check in with to ask: does this look OK, or is it as awful as I think it is?

This is the Correspondence which I never seem to reach for. I find the blue border nondescript and, if I tie it the wrong way, the pattern of little stamps make me look like I'm wearing a granny blanket. So today, I'm hiding the border and pleating the stamps. Think I can keep this one.

What a difference a knot makes! Brilliant way to tie this!

Not exactly my favorite but you’ve done a splendid job at tying it! This way I can only see the juxtaposition of beautiful colors

erm - I hear you. I'm glad you're feeling better about it!
But I would struggle with it.
I just got rid of - whoops.. re-homed a Les Jardin d’Armenie. I felt like I was channeling Laura Ingalls whenever I wore it - sorta like the Granny blanket for me.
(if anyone loves the Les Jardin d’Armenie - I apologize and please don't hold it against me!)

I considered rehoming this, but I really like Correspondence (the design, I mean). I think I would have more or less the same problem (aka granny blanket) no matter which cw I chose, and I have seriously weighed at least 3 other cw that came up on the resellers market.

Oh, and your comment made me snicker. I haven't thought about Little House on the Prairie for years. I think I read the first book in the series. The only part I recall is Laura buying cloth for a new dress, and she had a new hat to go with it. The hat had 3 feathers in shades of ivory and the wind almost swept them away the first time she wore the hat. Why I'm devoting brain cells to remembering this, I have no idea :confused1:

Congratulations on your first H scarf purchase. I'm sure you already know that H scarves are a delightful and dangerous hobby... it simply isn't possible to own just one. :graucho:
Your Jardin a Sintra looks fabulous on you. Have fun using the cards to learn all the different knotting variations!

It is stunning Dextersmom! Welcome!

hahahaa!
This particular cw of LJdA was very pink, no - it was PiNk. All those little flowers and do-dads were so cute. I was wearing it and thought 'Oh I should take a picture for both tPF and my Pinterest board… so I did. And then I took a good look at it in horror. I had a true WTVeryUnladyLikeWord moment. I never wore it again.
It was Laura Ingall's dress.

You look gorgeous. And so elegantly badass!

You rock!!!!

Love the scarf and the jacket!
Vavoom!
Thank you all!
I love those little medieval buildings! This scarf is amazing but I'm scared away by the price. It's lovely on you!
The prices are crazy. This one was listed high, but we negotiated and I got it for a very nice price. But it *is* pretty beat up! This is my dream CW: https://i.pinimg.com/236x/1a/95/64/1a956452e89d4761c97cbd099eb0ba2e--hermes-scarves-silk-scarves.jpg
Oh, my. This look is badass, Moma. What a fabulously cool scarf. I've never seen this cw either. For the damage to the hem, won't H take them in for repair?
I'm going to ask. What I don't want is that they cut it down and redo the whole edge.
You rock it moma!
Thank you, my dear!
