SOTD - Washington's Carriage bandana. I'm not loving this bandana as much as I hoped to. The silk is very heavy and the white just too bright for my taste. I don't mind it so much tucked into a black v-neck sweater but tied like this, with the tails swinging, I'm feeling "meh" on this purchase.
And I was thinking how good it looks with the plaid, jemblebee -- I'm just getting more adventurous with patterned tops and your example is a splendid one!

Stunning!

Lovely picture, thank you. Enjoy

Bad Ass Elegance is the phrase of the day.....if I were younger I would want to grow up to be you!!!

Croisette7.....words fail me....this is a Wonderful picture!

What a wonderful sense of color you have, scarf1!

Aaaahh! Gorgeous!

View attachment 3893128 View attachment 3893127 View attachment 3893126 I am thoroughly enjoying everyone’s postings and comments this week! I have learned and reflexed on so much! Well, I’m gonna post about the scarves I least like. They were both inherited scarves so I treasure them for sentimental reasons but don’t ever reach out for them. The Brides de Gala is special to me because It was a special hand-me-down and because of its original issue date (1957) which is my birth year. I think the problem is the light blue borders, which worked wonderfully on a darker complexion and hair color but not so much on me. I find myself fiddling around with with BdG to hide the borders and show some of the grey. I don’t much care for the overall pattern of the Tambours but the worst part is the expanse of light blue! Regarding the BdG, I’ve been thinking about stopping by my Hermes boutique and taking a look at the new Tattuage with the Abeille jacquard in a bold color or the BdG Love, just to own a BdG that I would enjoy wearing more than this one. Anyway, here they both are.

Nicely posed picture -- and scarf!

Thank you for your nice comments, ladies!
fifi, you look stunning in both carrés!

Belphoebe - it is written in the stars - we are a match made in heaven - we are brownish twins on the Cavalcadour  I just love to take mine out and look at it -wearing it is another matter, being stiff and unyelding. I am unable to tie it properly apart from in a cowboy style, so scared stiff ((pun intended) of losing it when worn - still, it is my most prized scarf I think, or at least a close second to my beloved Les Grottes Lascaux.
Some years scarves are stiffer than others -- I washed my Cavalcadour and like it much much better now that it's softer and easier to tie (and wear)!

After many years, I finally got a classic Brides de Gala, fifi -- we are sisters, though not twins, as mine is pale pink on the border. I toyed with getting blue, but the pink kept calling me and I just love it, especially with black or navy. The gray and gold are surprisingly good together too. (I also got a black, white and gold Cles for the same reason -- completing my classics).

I’m so afraid of washing them myself! Maybe some day I will finally dare. I find that my stiffest one is the Reve d’Australie. It almost felt as if it was starched! Then I did a little research and learned that this was characteristic of many scarves of the late 90s. Do you know this to be true? I wish I had discovered PBF sooner! I kick myself everyday for not looking you up while busy with other things! Just glad I’m here now and learning so much from you and all the lovely contributors!

I would love to see you wearing your BdG. I know that I would learn a thing or two for you have such amazing style!

This is the only scarf that I have that I hum and haw about, my Voyage En Etoffes. I worry that the pastels are draining. Perhaps it is because I am so used to brights and darks. I very rarely wear it.
View attachment 3892499 You can see the difference when you compare it to the brights of my Zenobie

This is the Correspondence which I never seem to reach for. I find the blue border nondescript and, if I tie it the wrong way, the pattern of little stamps makes me look like I'm wearing a granny blanket. So today, I'm hiding the border and pleating the stamps. Think I can keep this one.

xincinsin, we are sisters again! I got this scarf mainly because of the stamp pictures that can be used for so many of the SOTD Themes. I don't think I've ever worn it, so I just put it on and snapped a photo. I didn't try to do anything to match or contrast the top, just happened to have on a maroon/burgundy top and I think it's pretty nice. The 2-point tie shows the center of the scarf with less of the border too. I think the contemporary colors keep it from being "grannyesque." I guess it's a keeper after all!

I suggested once a "French casual" theme week where we don't think too much and just grab a scarf and put it on with whatever outfit we happen to be wearing. That was what I first noticed about the Parisian women I saw many years ago who were each wearing a pretty scarf that didn't seem to "go" with their outfits -- maybe they just felt in the mood for that scarf that day!

I have a transformed scarf to share. I bought an old cw of Sangles quite deliberately about a year ago. It was the very first H scarf I ever saw, back when I was an awkward teen in Hawaii. I remember walking along Waikiki with my BFF, who has always been a sophisticated beauty, and we came upon a billboard that showed a picture of this scarf just fluttering in the wind.
I turned to my friend and said, "That is just hideous. I don't understand the point of scarves!"

Obviously, I had no idea what I was talking about. I bought this scarf to remind myself of the old adage that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

(Believe it or not, I had a similar moment with Birkins after that episode of Sex in the City aired many years ago - "ugh, I don't understand the appeal of Birkins. They're not very pretty." I am a self-admitted dolt!)

Now, even with this all said, this cw was just OK. Here's what it looked like in its original state:

Lots o' primary colors. I didn't reach for it much. Then Hermesmatic blew into town and after one dip in denim blue, it looked like this:View attachment 3893054

Ooh, so much nicer! But I was curious about what another dip in violet would do, so back it went. The folks at Hermesmatic were incredibly obliging. Now it looks like this:

I'm very, very happy with this experiment!

I have anxiously been awaiting this reveal! I've been obsessively following the Hermesmatic thread and oooohing and aaaahhhing over the amazing transformations. I'm glad you went back for that second dip as it really warmed the whole scarf up in such a beautiful way :) Congrats on this new transformation and exciting new-to-you addition to your scarf drawer!!
The nearest Hermesmatic to me was a 5+ hour drive and sadly, I had to pass. I instead spent that weekend doing my own dye party using tips from a PF member & packets of Dylon. I was BLOWN AWAY by the results! I didn't practice on any H scarves, just some charity shop silks and souvenirs I wasn't worried about ruining.

Hahaha! Here's a REAL "What Was I Thinking?" I had just gotten the BdG scarf and the colors were on my mind when I saw this silky print blouse -- I couldn't wait to get home and put them together :yucky:. Needless to say, the blouse went back to the store and the scarf got put with black and white where it cheered me up immensely. (But I do like the knot on the print top)Brides de Gala pink composite.jpg

I think you are referring to a scene in These Happy Golden Years where Laura and Almanzo are courting, and yes, the feathers on her hat almost get whisked away by the wind, but Almanzo catches them and says that the hatmaker in town hasn't yet learned to stitch the feathers on strongly enough for those prairie winds. I'm glad you remembered it - it's a good series!
 Our brain works in mysterious ways. My literary taste is more towards sci-fi, fantasy, Shakespeare, James Bond and manga, so this memory is very out of the norm for me.
I made one odd discovery while reviewing the collex for this week: I have a rather large number of light green scarves. Most seem to work for me, but one doesn't. Still contemplating the reason...

That blouse was definitely trying for a gestalt with the scarf!

I was tempted to get the turquoise cw and rehome the blue, but I chickened out and decided to take the safer colour.
