Thank you for a fun and very inspiring week @HermesEchidna, it's always great to see our scarves in a new light and learn something in the process! And thank you @Cookiefiend for the poetic introduction to doubles week!

I have two 90 DFs that I love and normally take with me when travelling, but I managed to escape the cold North and am currently vacationing in Bali, where it's way too hot and humid to wear any scarves, let alone two. I brought along a few twillys though (that I can wear for about 5 min.), so took a quick mod shot earlier. The Savana Dance twilly is not officially a DF, but it does have two distinct sides and is the closest I'm going to get to being on theme this week.

Late to contributing to STEM week, here is my new Alternateur, which the Boston boutique happened to have. I just love the blue side of this scarf. Not sure of the other side yet, but seeing just a little is fun!
And I now realize I am miraculously on topic for this week!
View attachment 5934516
I so wish I could have made this DF work for me @frenchgirl-- the blue side is so stunning. Congratulations!
So elegant, @LKBNOLA, and your beaded creation perfectly matches your shawl.

Smart lady, travelling with double sided scarves. If I do keep the Splash Park DF (if it ever arrives and I get to try it on!) that will be my first double face and I’ll be sure to remember that tip.
Thank you @GloWW0rM -- it was a lesson taught by the relative limitations of the scarf "notebook" I use for travel, which has eight slots. So for longer trips, the DF scarves are great: one slot, two sides, many options! And thank you -- the colors of the Etriers Remix GT remind me of you with the strong green and blue colors!
You've got your small craft partner started beading right!
Ah, thank you! She does seem to love any kind of craft-play @bunnycat, though a glue stick is a bit of a peril around a scarf!
I have three doubleface scarves. All were bought the week before the pandemic while I was at a conference in Chicago. (I hate to think what that says about me! Loathe to do anything by halves!)

At any rate, here is one - C'est la Fete - a scarf it seems people love or hate  (If they had had @lanit 's orange/blue, I would own four!)
View attachment 5934548
We are twins @Awillow-- count me in the "love it" crowd and I especially love it with your window pane flannel shirt! And I think I even remember your post about this lucky pre-pandemic purchase!
What an awesome leap o'leopards!
And what a great idea for travel... one that I've never thought of!
Wonderful kittens @LKBNOLA and I dare you to double up on your double faces this week!
Thank you @Cookiefiend and @Snausages-- I am definitely up for a double gav option but I tried double 90s only once before and felt a bit engulfed-- that's even more silk than a 140!
To maintain an acceptable cost-per-wear when one has one neck, a double helps the H math

Double Space Derby twillies and double Colliers de Chiens maxi twillies
View attachment 5934553View attachment 5934554
I love the double twillies @Snausages and definitely adding that to the repertoire-- I have so few I will be struggling for a match as pretty as this one!
Beautiful! I also love the knot. its really cute that your granddaughter picked it out.

Lovely, and nice work on the bracelet!

Aaaah, I love your leopards collection, esp that CSGM and the green 90. I feel like I should have tried on that 90 one more before they were gone, with a better outfit.
Thank you on all counts @Jereni!
A Vos Crayons (Leigh P. Cooke 2004) and Belles du Mexique (Virginie Jamin 2007) reissued as 45s. These are my "sigh" scarves because I paid more than I should have for both. Crayons was in boutiques around the world, but not in the US. I desperately wanted one, so I bought off Ebay. Patience would have been better. I was crazy about Belles because the listing pictures made the fuchsia belles stand out. IRL the border stands out. I am still happy with them. I would just be happier if I didn't notice the prices when I look at pictures of my collection.

I am going to share a pic that is not me or my silks. It is my inspiration for two gavs together. Tried tying my to get this look and can't. I seem to have too much silk. I just love this.

Finally, an off topic sharing. The sun came out yesterday and is still here today....First time in what seems like two months. Good morning Mr. Sunshine. You brighten up my day. Gloria Soli aka Carpe Diem.

View attachment 5934574
This is a spectacular gav combo @Cordeliere-- really really great colors together! And your sunny gav is just the right Vitamin H during the cold mid-winter...
Beautiful Etriers, LKB! ... and a lovely bracelet.
Thank you so much @Croisette7-- and I do believe my grand-little has a promising future in jewelry design :giggle:
Sharing a double face - Brandenbourgs Fleuris in Blue Jean and Tabac. Happy Sunday everyone!!
View attachment 5934621
How lovely on powder blue @SilkCouture-- I had this cw firmly catalogued in my mind as "autumn-warm" or "summer-bright" but this looks quite serene and spring-like!
I joined the Double Face Club finally this autumn while visiting Sevres. I fell hard for these kitties and somehow the euro made the (previous) price increase less onerous. I’m looking forward to this week to see how you DF experts show both sides of these things…. Douze Léopards

It looks particularly fetching in @blydia's ever-so-useful Rando Knot @Pirula-- delighted to be twins!
I am cleaning and organizing ye olde bedroom and scarf drawers on this freezing Sunday. Turtleneck on even inside my home today!
I was trying to cull one of these gavs, but alas it proved impossible with this darn doubles week!!
I really like the two together.
I was trying to do @LKBNOLA ’s double gav look with the ?butterflywings tie? n chain d’ancre scarf ring. But I only have this tiny one or a really heavy one which would be too heavy for gavs. And I couldn’t get enough scarf through the small hole.
View attachment 5934703

View attachment 5934696View attachment 5934697
Please don't get rid of either gav @Nomad! They look amazing together. Now if only I could remember how I did this...but I do think you need a moyenne CdA or one of the lightweight large ones... but I love both your ties here!
Not good with selfies so pardon the photo but I have been wearing many of my older cashmere 140's with my sweats and pj's lately to keep me warm in the bitter cold of January. Today is “Chasse en Inde” - one of my faves.
You look lovely and cozy @balthis and what's this about not being good with selfies? I think you aced it!
These are all so gorgeous and every time you model them, my “need” increases 😂
Those charming and fun cats have a way of weakening resolve @Meadi! I am living proof...
Good morning!!!
Thank you @Cookiefiend for kicking off double week. I look forward to see great pairings and tips and tricks on how to wear I had never thought about!!
Cold and rainy - that is a double trouble in itself and not scarf friendly. I will wrap a ginormous wollen thing around me and my scarf today. Will spare you the sight.
Underneath is sotd Tropiques chosen to match new giraffe earrings (a double?!).
Have a Day of double fun!!
View attachment 5934829
That's a beautiful green border @HermesEchidna and super great earrings!
Starting the week with a first-time wear and my first double face scarf - Splash Park.

I'm a little apprehensive about such a light-coloured silk, so I've gone for a loose drape-knot to try and keep it makeup-free.

Wishing everyone a successful Monday!

Oh my -- @violetkool-- this is truly wonderful on you! As for make-up -- smart to think about the tie-- FWIW, my rule is scarf goes on after the tinted moisturizer and before lipstick!

Oh how wonderful does Bali sound when it is 18 degrees outside @LeneCPH! You look wonderful and so does the twilly for its five minute cameo appearance! I hope you have a marvelous and relaxing vacation.

I am solo grand-parenting today (and scarf-less at the moment having just managed school drop-off) but I wanted to weigh in on the discussion between @Redbirdhermes and @textilegirl on the nature of the DF format not being a "true" double in most cases. It is often the case that the two sides are the same design exactly but rendered in monochrome or limited colors but there are quite a few where the "other" or B Side, if you will, adds some elements. I am thinking of Pani Le Shar where one side is a bandana rendering, while the other is blue and in particular, Hermes Factory, where the one side is vignettes and the other is a "color-block" version that almost seems like a dip-dye. So while it is not as markedly different as @Redbirdhermes' example, here are archive photos of both sides of Factory...
Editing to add some thumbnail pics of Pani la Shar DF (this was my first DF!) below.

Good morning Scarflandia!

Goodness - I have a hard act to follow this week after @HermesEchidna, absolutely fantastic week of STEM! Thank you so much for an amazing week!

This week we double our fun!

1.21.24 - Double the Fun - wear two scarves of any size (mixed formats welcome) or a doubleface.

Double our fun - woot! Oddly enough my Sunday morning started on an auspicious note…

Yeahhhhh… it’s very cold!
So what’s a scarfie to do?
Well - wear two!
I won’t scold,
But do as you’re told
Be bold!

Ohmigosh - it’s too early for cheesy poetry
(Never!!)

Anywho - this week we’re doubling up, we’re wearing our double faces (and there’s a subset - the two faces of Janus?),

so here’s an impromptu photo from the airport last night! I’m wearing two sweaters, a jacket, Le Jaguar et Colibri AND a cape with a darling fox collar!

Let’s double our fun this week Scarflandia,
And remember whatever H you’re wearing it’s always on theme!
Stay warm cuties!!
Wonderful introduction, Cookie, and great examples. I also want to thank @HermesEchidna for her terrific hosting, information and many examples.

I have doubled up on gavs but I am not so sure they were very successful pairings. Sangles and Pegase Pop - like.

Welcome @Cookiefiend to Double our fun week. Your chilly 2 degree day reminds me of the joke we have about how it is twice as warm here, since our temperature is 4 degrees. (Okay, it’s actually over 5 times warmer, as it is now a balmy 11 degrees F. But I digress.)

I saved this double face automobile scarf for today as my crossover from Technology week. Formule Chic not only shows the leap forward in automobile technology as its theme, but also represents a leap forward in scarf printing technology.

View attachment 5934500View attachment 5934499

This is the first Hermès scarf with completely different designs on each side, a vintage automobile on one side, and a Formula One racing car on the other. It also has different colors on each side that compliments the different moods of the two cars. One is a leisurely drive down a country road, and the other is charging down the speedway.

I own a few more double face scarves, but they have the same design on each side. I’m sure it is easier to not have the artist do two different paintings for one scarf. Until we start seeing more true double design scarves, Formule Chic remains a unique treasure in my collection.

My scarf of the day is Formule Chic.

I’m fully prepared to cut H a little slack for artistic vision, but I think if there’s any writing on the scarf, including the house name and artist’s signature, it should be rendered properly. I know there have been several Della Cav iterations, and I’m away without my scarf at hand, but I particularly remember the figures and writing being exactly rendered in different colors and legible on each side as this was the subject of a lengthy discussion with my SA. What I’m less fond of is where it seems very little of the scarf design is reversed, and there’s simply a different color wash through which can be seen the ‘A’ side design in reverse. (I hope that makes some sense.) What’s so marvelous about @Redbirdhermes’ Formule Chic is that it’s a completely different design. That is certainly worth the price of admission in my estimation but I’m not convinced regarding, for example, Tapis de Selle. https://assets.hermes.com/is/image/...rf-90--904040S 02-flat-wm-5-0-0-800-800_g.jpg.

I actually like them all @Karenska and I think the size is what makes them successful. I’m not sure the same combos would work as well with two 90s. Of course that’s what this week is all about!

ETA: I agree, the Tapis/Fluerie combo is especially good!

Thank you so much, Textilegirl, I appreciate the feedback. I agree that it’s probably easier (at least for me) to wear two gavs or ‘danas than two 90s.

I honestly think that Sangles works with almost everything, which is probably why the design keeps popping up. And your two florals in matching colorways are perfect together. I was going to say that the different scales made the Forceds/Baobab problematic, but then I recalled my purchase last fall of my Sangles en Zigzag Fleuries maxi twilly, and I eat my words.

I so wish I could have made this DF work for me @frenchgirl-- the blue side is so stunning. Congratulations!
Responding to you and @Lellabelle, I got this Alternateur solely because of the blue side, it is exquisite. I know this has been discussed before, but the sad reality is one is highly unlikely to fall in love with both sides of a DF. Hermes has this perverse habit of creating DF scarves for two entirely different skin tones. The only exception for me was Orphee, where one side is total magic and the other mostly tolerable but wearable.

IMHO the Tapis Persans and Pique Fleuri de Provence pairing is fabulous. Looking at the part closer to your neck, they almost look like the same scarf. Your sweater is the perfect backdrop. Well done. I had wanted a Pique Fleuri de Provence gas and kind of got over it. You have re-kindled my silk lust.

I'm wearing my double face Le Jardin des Peintres today. I purchased this scarf because I liked the cyclamen color on the B side, and it was my favorite design of the S/S 2023 season with cyclamen.

image - 2023-03-08T184844.331.jpg

This is a variation of what @LKBNOLA was discussing with her Hermes Factory, where the back is also vividly colored. With Peintres the design on the front has been rendered in a more graphic format, instead of a finesse style with a solid color overlay. Like many Hermes design variations, I suspect that this alteration was done by in-house designers. For example, in-house designers are certainly at work on the many new scarf designs that Hermes produces that are attributed to the long-departed Hugo Grygkar.

Grygkar.jpg

Here is an archive photo with my preferred B side showing.

20230309_090453.jpg

Here is my scarf of the day photo of Le Jardin des Peintres with the A side out. I do find that having a beautiful color on the back of the scarf means I spent less time fiddling with it to keep the back from showing. Who would want to hide the cyclamen??

Hi @Karenska, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend and colleague. It's such a sad thing, one that I experienced twice in the past 2 years. Please accept my most heartfelt condolences. :hugs:

Life keeps getting in the way of my scarf fun so I'm just now getting you this pic, my apologies for the delay. Here's my Objects de Curiosites, which I absolutely adore, especially the bee border (mostly the naughty bees who wander). I've really enjoyed wearing it lately with a purple top, I like the contrast with the hem.
