I did manage a scarf yesterday-- the day was so cold but cashmere and fleece came to the rescue. I was very busy with a pipe cleaner and bead project that my small craft partner and I spent the morning on. STEM connection: a great way to develop patterning and counting skills while playing! Results posted below. Not quite up to @bunnycat's aesthetic beading standards but, well, you have to start somewhere, right? ;)

I have three doubleface scarves. All were bought the week before the pandemic while I was at a conference in Chicago. (I hate to think what that says about me! Loathe to do anything by halves!)

At any rate, here is one - C'est la Fete - a scarf it seems people love or hate  (If they had had @lanit 's orange/blue, I would own four!)

Wonderful scarf on you, @Awillow. Just beautiful colors and beautifully tied. As for what your shopping style says to me is that you know what you like, you are decisive and not prone to second-guessing yourself. You take advantage of availability, which we all know can be a problem with Hermes. You were quite fortunate to pick these up before lockdown, which confirms how acting quickly is to your benefit as life doesn't always give us a second chance. Looking forward to seeing the other double face scarves in your collection this week.

Great intro @Cookiefiend! Man, that is cold! Brrr 🥶 -- love your outfit to beat the chill though! Love seeing that Jaguar's cheerful yellow peeking out! And also, please don't stop writing poems for us... I juts love the rhymes! Cheval Sirene is a favorite DF of mine and that is a beautiful cw. This week was made for me as I adore the DF format!

Beautiful both @mktlim-- this is the gris chine Jaguar, right? I love Patisserie in all colors and sizes-- what a wonderful combo!

Beautiful scarf-on-site of your pale blue Pytheas @Karenska! Twins on the red-hemmed neutral!

Your witty post/pun made me  @lanit-- we are twins on this vibrant beauty and it also has two very distinct corners to double the tying fun! All your Plume variations are wonderful and C'est la Fête in this cw is so lovely...

I love this mousseline @Karenska. :girlsigh:
Thank you LKB - you are too kind! :giggle:

I appreciate your kindness.
Like the dodo,
My poems are sorta flightless.
Definitely silly,
And so so..
But sometimes I come up with a dilly!

<dodging tomatoes>
:giggle:
Here's a collage I recently made to corral my "leap" of leopards. I fell hard for these cuties and their bookcase full of artifacts and objects-- their "room" reminds me a bit of my own workspace! I've had two cws of the CSGM and now have two times double the fun with two doubleface 90s... (I sound like a Doublemint gum jingle! for those who remember...)

When I travel, I usually pack at least one of my DF designs because it is like packing two scarves in one-- enhancing the styling options (not that silks take up that much room, TBH).
What an awesome leap o'leopards!
And what a great idea for travel... one that I've never thought of!
What a week! @HermesEchidna amazing hosting, thanks so much. I have been in bed since my last post with a flu and it’s quite debilitating. Thank you for all of the love on last post, wish I could reply to more in real time. @Cookiefiend excited for doubles week. Have attached some archival pics of my two della cavaleria double faces. The 2020/2021? issuance, not the current season.
ETA - Archive of tiger double face also.
DC is such a great design, to have two double faces - wowowowowowow!!!!
So sorry you're under the weather - hope you're feeling better soon. :hugs:
Late to contributing to STEM week, here is my new Alternateur, which the Boston boutique happened to have. I just love the blue side of this scarf. Not sure of the other side yet, but seeing just a little is fun!
And I now realize I am miraculously on topic for this week!

gorgeous cw!
Welcome @Cookiefiend to Double our fun week. Your chilly 2 degree day reminds me of the joke we have about how it is twice as warm here, since our temperature is 4 degrees. (Okay, it’s actually over 5 times warmer, as it is now a balmy 11 degrees F. But I digress.)

I saved this double face automobile scarf for today as my crossover from Technology week. Formule Chic not only shows the leap forward in automobile technology as its theme, but also represents a leap forward in scarf printing technology.

View attachment 5934500View attachment 5934499

This is the first Hermès scarf with completely different designs on each side, a vintage automobile on one side, and a Formula One racing car on the other. It also has different colors on each side that compliments the different moods of the two cars. One is a leisurely drive down a country road, and the other is charging down the speedway.

I own a few more double face scarves, but they have the same design on each side. I’m sure it is easier to not have the artist do two different paintings for one scarf. Until we start seeing more true double design scarves, Formule Chic remains a unique treasure in my collection.

My scarf of the day is Formule Chic.

View attachment 5934517
Fantastic! I had no idea this DF was of two different designs - so clever and can you imagine the tech that went into the printing of this! Yowza!
I did giggle over your 'It's twice as warm here at 4 degrees', we gotta make ourselves laugh how ever possible in this weather!
Later this week though, we're supposed to have thunderstorms... how?!? :faint:
So elegant, @LKBNOLA, and your beaded creation perfectly matches your shawl.

Wow, that is cold! I had to convert Fahrenheit to Celsius and groaned. I love your double creations!

You look so cosy in your beautiful Le Jaguar Et Le Colibri.

I squealed like a piglet when I saw your Duo Cosmique and Plumes En Fete. Two designs that I missed out on because I was new to H then and didn’t decide I want them until they had sold out everywhere. Your Duo Cosmique is a stunning cw and perfect on you!

Smart lady, travelling with double sided scarves. If I do keep the Splash Park DF (if it ever arrives and I get to try it on!) that will be my first double face and I’ll be sure to remember that tip.

@Foxy trini you look gorgeous in all of these. Is there a colour that doesn’t love you?!
Thank you sweetheart!

Happy Sunday! It's been too busy for me to comment on everyone's STEM scarves! Thank goodness for the like options. @HermesEchidna - what a fantastic week, I hope you host more theme weeks in the future. I enjoyed everyone's stories.

Thanks so much everyone- special thanks to @Awillow @GloWW0rM and @LKBNOLA . Happy Sunday all. We had a close shave for last nights football game against the Packers and just barely eked a win. Suffice to say, we enjoyed an evening with friends, comfort food and conversation.

Thank you @Cookiefiend for the new theme week even though I could easily enjoy a lot of STEMmy architectural silks:smile:

Since we are doubling our fun - here are a few that might add a doubling scarf energy to theme week ?

Duo Cosmique- pun on words but the title for this scarf in on point?

What I am wearing today is Plunes et Fete double knotted at the neck and sharing an older Plumes design that might have been an inspiration for Aline Honore’s newer interpretation?

View attachment 5934474

I might as well add the second Plumes en Fete 90 silk to the feather party as well!
View attachment 5934477
Lastly I only have two Double faced silks- they do empty the wallet being more expensive than the 90’s but at least it’s not double the price yet at least for now. So I’m rather choosy to be sure both sides suit my wearing in good conscience!

C’est Le Fete was my first DF silk. View attachment 5934476View attachment 5934475
Terrific feathers @lanit and love how you’ve knotted your shawl
What a wonderful post and chockful of great information. Love that inquisitive leopard - “and gladly would he learn” paraphrasing Chaucer, I think. Your examples are truly en pointe, HE, and I love your cw of LVdP - congratulations! We are sisters snd I love both of mine, but yours is indeed jollyily colorful. What a design! Such a grail.
I took my more worn one, the light blue, to Iceland and it was perfect, standing on the Reynisfyara black sand beach, imagining the Norse settlers coming here for the first time.

Super H is always super fantastic. Congrats on the find!!!

I love this Nombre d’Or, the combo of colors is so fun. Immediately went to look for it but alas does not seem to be readily available on the aftermarket.

My SOTD is warm and cozy. Either I am off topic with Awooo or on topic when we look at nature as the origin of all STEM related fields.
View attachment 5933605

Love this Awooo on you! It is definitely very snuggly looking.

Happy Saturday Scarflandia! I am traveling/babysitting this next week so my SOTDs may be a bit haphazard and sporadic. This morning my three year old granddaughter was up early and helped me select her favorite horse scarf from a file of archive pics. Later we will bundle up and greet the snow that accumulated here last night. She has not yet begun riding lessons (though she loved the experience of a pony ride!) but she very much enjoys her mother's Breyer horse collection (some of which used to be my own!) so this is a fitting choice: Chevaux de la Collection, men's 100 CS.

Just a Sunday outtro of STEM-week-

Thank you all for your generous sharing of beautiful designs, cute Nerd Love Stories and clever connections to the theme. And thanks for putting up with my lengthy rantings on the fringes of stem.

I knew there had to be a lot of great stem/steam designs out there which I did not know about, and this week has added several to my wish list - so also Thank you (I Think ;)) for that.

One very fast decision and speedy hunting process happened this week and this scarf will forever be known by me as my “guest-scarf-mistress-premiere-week-impulse-buy-scarf”.

I tried to convince an Old friend to let me adopt her stunning Black cw - hinting that the colors did not suit her (they did) and that she should not keep it (she did). But Then she alerted me to this one, almost as great a cw as the Black.
I am now the proud owner - and thus a sister to a bunch of you - of Laboratoire du Temp.

That’s terrific @Redbirdhermes! I have been on a lonely island lamenting what I consider to be H’s misleading moniker ‘double-faced’ scarves. I have one of the original Della Cavalaria Favolosa’s which is a true double-faced iteration; the wording on the ‘reverse’ can be read, it’s not a mirror image. I thought that was an incredible technical achievement. Your Formule Chic advances that effort even further, and it’s a marvel. I’m dismayed that there are other scarves that H calls double-sided (and charges accordingly for) that are not true double-sided scarves IMO, they just seem to have a wash of color on the reverse. It would be fun to see some sort of metiers exhibit explaining the difference, I’d love to be educated.

A Vos Crayons (Leigh P. Cooke 2004) and Belles du Mexique (Virginie Jamin 2007) reissued as 45s. These are my "sigh" scarves because I paid more than I should have for both. Crayons was in boutiques around the world, but not in the US. I desperately wanted one, so I bought off Ebay. Patience would have been better. I was crazy about Belles because the listing pictures made the fuchsia belles stand out. IRL the border stands out. I am still happy with them. I would just be happier if I didn't notice the prices when I look at pictures of my collection.

I am going to share a pic that is not me or my silks. It is my inspiration for two gavs together. Tried tying my to get this look and can't. I seem to have too much silk. I just love this.

Finally, an off topic sharing. The sun came out yesterday and is still here today....First time in what seems like two months. Good morning Mr. Sunshine. You brighten up my day. Gloria Soli aka Carpe Diem.

That is such a great pairing, and you look great!
Ignore those prices - they mean nothing if you love the scarf!
(on another note tho - I keep a spreadsheet - each time I wear a scarf the cost is reduced!)
Just fantastic display, Bravo!
Thank you frenchgirl! :flowers:
