Another great post, HE, one cannot overestimate the Age of Transportation in human development with it’s impact on humanity, culture, on the landscape, environmentally, on everything, both good and bad.Let us blow some steam off and get moving! Today it is all about machines and transportation. And STEM is only an addition of Art away from being STEAM!
The use of steam as a source of power in the years around 1800 changed both production and tranportation. Steam engines powered large factories, and thus modern Industry, with all it’s flaws and benefits, was the foundation for fast and large scale transportation on land and sea. Trains and steam boats changed the communication and connections and Exchange of people and products all over the world.
This development is celebrated in Philippe Ledoux’ Le Merveilles de la Vapeur with an assortment of steam engines, locomotives etc. This is a special edition with the name of the Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Assurance Company in the middle instead of the name of the design. There are two article on the Carre de Paris blog about the investors and machines mentioned on the scarf, which I recommend.

But of course transport is so much more than steamers and train tracks. Several designs have wonderful nautic motives of other kinds of ships and boats - this one even claiming to have all the ships in the world (some of us probably looks more at the border wildlife, but well…)
Aline Honore: Tous le bateaux du monde.

But let us also see everything with cars, bikes, busses etc - and if we include coaches and carriages the examples are almost limitless!
And of course we also need to look up. Even though space travel has already been mentioned this week, we have the good Old airplanes, airships and balloons - @Jereni and others in here have already modelled great designs with airplanes etc, and here is my historic example ( I Think one of you might already also have postet it, but I forgot who - forgive me)
Loïc Dubigeon: Les Folies du Ciel

The Technology of transportation is everywhere in Our scarves, and I look so much forward to see all the great examples I know you have in ye olde scarf drawer!
Have a great day!
Such a beauty, Xincinsin. In the office building where I work, the upper floors house many specialist teams, including some who deal in forensics and assist our police in keeping Singapore safe. No, they don't dissect any bodies here, but this is their HQ.
Just an opener to say that skills such as inductive and deductive reasoning as well as extrapolation are important in STEM. So-called leaps of logic or Eureka! moments are the result of many connections and inferences percolating beneath the surface of our consciousness.
In Mystere au 24, we are invited to view the strange scene in the house with chaos everywhere, tame pets and wild beasts rampaging, a bewildered fox in the chimney, and Did The Kitty Do It?!!! Whodunit indeed (who done what?), filmed in Hermescope! I say it was the guy on the horse outside the house who dunit to my wallet

A perfect ending to a perfectly fun week, HE, thank you for hosting and leading us in our journey with STEM!Just a Sunday outtro of STEM-week-
Thank you all for your generous sharing of beautiful designs, cute Nerd Love Stories and clever connections to the theme. And thanks for putting up with my lengthy rantings on the fringes of stem.
I knew there had to be a lot of great stem/steam designs out there which I did not know about, and this week has added several to my wish list - so also Thank you (I Think) for that.
One very fast decision and speedy hunting process happened this week and this scarf will forever be known by me as my “guest-scarf-mistress-premiere-week-impulse-buy-scarf”.
I tried to convince an Old friend to let me adopt her stunning Black cw - hinting that the colors did not suit her (they did) and that she should not keep it (she did). But Then she alerted me to this one, almost as great a cw as the Black.
I am now the proud owner - and thus a sister to a bunch of you - of Laboratoire du Temp.

And how Could I even exist without a scarf featuring both Cave people, dinosaurs, Big Bang, the Wilbur brothers, industristrialization, video games, Moon landing - and a disco ball (huge scientific invention!)?

Perfect Lanit - a duo, a double, and deux PenF!Thanks so much everyone- special thanks to @Awillow @GloWW0rM and @LKBNOLA . Happy Sunday all. We had a close shave for last nights football game against the Packers and just barely eked a win. Suffice to say, we enjoyed an evening with friends, comfort food and conversation.
Thank you @Cookiefiend for the new theme week even though I could easily enjoy a lot of STEMmy architectural silks
Since we are doubling our fun - here are a few that might add a doubling scarf energy to theme week ?
Duo Cosmique- pun on words but the title for this scarf in on point?

Great intro @Cookiefiend! Man, that is cold! Brrr 🥶 -- love your outfit to beat the chill though! Love seeing that Jaguar's cheerful yellow peeking out! And also, please don't stop writing poems for us... I juts love the rhymes! Cheval Sirene is a favorite DF of mine and that is a beautiful cw. This week was made for me as I adore the DF format!Good morning Scarflandia!

So what’s a scarfie to do?
Well - wear two!
I won’t scold,
But do as you’re told
Be bold!
Ohmigosh - it’s too early for cheesy poetry
(Never!!)
Anywho - this week we’re doubling up, we’re wearing our double faces (and there’s a subset - the two faces of Janus?),

Beautiful both @mktlim-- this is the gris chine Jaguar, right? I love Patisserie in all colors and sizes-- what a wonderful combo!Happy Sunday! It's been too busy for me to comment on everyone's STEM scarves! Thank goodness for the like options. @HermesEchidna - what a fantastic week, I hope you host more theme weeks in the future. Beautiful scarf-on-site of your pale blue Pytheas @Karenska! Twins on the red-hemmed neutral! What a wonderful post and chockful of great information. Love that inquisitive leopard - “and gladly would he learn” paraphrasing Chaucer, I think. Your examples are truly en pointe, HE, and I love your cw of LVdP - congratulations! We are sisters snd I love both of mine, but yours is indeed jollyily colorful. What a design! Such a grail.
I took my more worn one, the light blue, to Iceland and it was perfect, standing on the Reynisfyara black sand beach, imagining the Norse settlers coming here for the first time.

Here is my other cw, taupe, love the red in this one.

Your witty post/pun made meLastly I only have two Double faced silks- they do empty the wallet being more expensive than the 90’s but at least it’s not double the price yet at least for now. So I’m rather choosy to be sure both sides suit my wearing in good conscience!
C’est Le Fete was my first DF silk. View attachment 5934476View attachment 5934475

So elegant, @LKBNOLA, and your beaded creation perfectly matches your shawl.I did manage a scarf yesterday-- the day was so cold but cashmere and fleece came to the rescue. I was very busy with a pipe cleaner and bead project that my small craft partner and I spent the morning on. STEM connection: a great way to develop patterning and counting skills while playing! Results posted below. Not quite up to @bunnycat's aesthetic beading standards but, well, you have to start somewhere, right?

I squealed like a piglet when I saw your Duo Cosmique and Plumes En Fete. Two designs that I missed out on because I was new to H then and didn’t decide I want them until they had sold out everywhere. Smart lady, travelling with double sided scarves. If I do keep the Splash Park DF (if it ever arrives and I get to try it on!) that will be my first double face and I’ll be sure to remember that tip. Here's a collage I recently made to corral my "leap" of leopards. I fell hard for these cuties and their bookcase full of artifacts and objects-- their "room" reminds me a bit of my own workspace! I've had two cws of the CSGM and now have two times double the fun with two doubleface 90s... (I sound like a Doublemint gum jingle! for those who remember...)

When I travel, I usually pack at least one of my DF designs because it is like packing two scarves in one-- enhancing the styling options (not that silks take up that much room, TBH).
@Foxy trini you look gorgeous in all of these. Is there a colour that doesn’t love you?!What a week! @HermesEchidna amazing hosting, thanks so much. I have been in bed since my last post with a flu and it’s quite debilitating. Thank you for all of the love on last post, wish I could reply to more in real time. @Cookiefiend excited for doubles week. Have attached some archival pics of my two della cavaleria double faces. The 2020/2021? issuance, not the current season.
ETA - Archive of tiger double face also.
