On this last day of the year, I am taking a long look back at the scarves that were issued last century that were added to the collection during 2024.

Oscarf nominees for the Best of the 20th Century include:

Mont Sainct Michel - 1947

The Oscarf for the Best of the 20th Century goes to Mont Sainct Michel, a holy grail that I never expected to find. Delighted to be wearing it as my scarf of the day for the last day of 2024. Happy New Year, Everyone!

The proof of the pudding is in the eating-- or in Scarflandia, it is in the mod shots @PoliticalGal -- both are beautiful on you and as you say, they suit your wardrobe and look lovely with your blonde hair and bold lippie!

I would not wear mine around drippy foods either @Maedi!!! It is so beautiful and looks luminous and lovely on you!

I am the opposite as well @Karenska-- I find it much harder to get the smaller formats to fall casually and perfectly as you do. I love working with 90s because for me, I have the full range of tie and go or working a bit to highlight a design aspect and the origami-like pleasure of more structured knots. Learning knots was a great pandemic pastime for me and I still love it, though find myself relying on a smaller range of simpler ties for everyday life versus mod shots...

I have loved seeing your collection grow @Jacq1!!! So many beauties and so lovely styled and tied, too. Happy New Year! Here's to more scarves in 2025...and bespoke outfits in your closet!

I love this R-i-F category @xincinsin! Congratulations on the Oscarf, the Scarf and the Debut! And what a special experience to have met Alice Shirley and discussed her passion for the wildlife she paints!

And we are so happy you joined the merry band of Scarflandia @darkstar66-- congratulations! I gave mine an Oscarf last year so I fully endorse your choice ( ) and what a perfect description-- a scarf that is etheral and vibrant at once! It suits youbeautifully. Love it on grey and making a note to try that. Happy New Year's Eve!

Most epic Scarf Acquisition Journey ever @momasaurus! Lovely to see you and Happy New Year's Eve!
Thank you, @LKBNOLA , your always friendly and so very helpful remarks mean a lot to me!

Well this morning, it is time for another category. Here are the five nominees for Best Vintage Scarf 2024: L-R Top Quadrige Costumé 70, Carrosserie; Center: Ecole Portugaise d'Art Equestre SE; L-R Bottom: Mors et Gourmettes Trellis Jacquard; La Danse. I would love for someone to read the results from "the envelope please" because I cannot pick a favorite!

This is an easy choice for me. Ever since I got my L'Ecole Espagnole de Vienne scarf I have been contemplating completing the Hermès riding school scarf series. And you have a Special Edition of Ecole Portugaise d'Art Esquestre. Let's see this flat sometime, please. Yes, this is my choice for the Oscarf.

Congratulations on all of these beautiful scarves. Okay, Quadrige Costume is a close second because I love this design and the colors. Very appropriate party scarf for today. Happy New Year!

Today I will go with various ‘grail’ Oscarfs:

Winner of Best Mini Grail goes to Minuit au Faubourg. These colors are my absolute DREAM.
IMG_3985.jpeg

Best ‘Patience is a Virtue’ Grail goes to Jaguar Quetzal. I stalked this for awhile from a reputable eBay seller but it had a prominent mark on it and I just didn’t want to pay anywhere close to retail for that. And eventually it popped up on TRR for less and with no imperfections, yay!
IMG_0978.jpeg

Most Nerve-wracking Grail Acquisition is awarded to my long coveted Acte III 90. Hadn’t seen this anywhere for months, nabbed it for under retail on Vestiaire, it arrived in a rainstorm while I was on travel and I had to coordinate with my dad (from Budapest no less) to come over and open it and air it out so it wasn’t ruined. Phew!
IMG_2838.jpeg

Most Unexpected Holy Grail goes to … Maîtres de la Foret, which I’d given up on ever finding, but was tipped off to by a lovely TPF-er and now this beauty is mine!!!

In 2024, I only bought one CSGM, but it was a long sought after design and cw. This was the shawl that made me discover Hermès shawls and scarves. I saw a photo of it online by chance somewhere, did my research and discovered the world of Hermès 😋 Unfortunately, it was already sold out everywhere at the time. I was thrilled when I found it this fall on the aftermarket in really good condition and for a reasonable price too.

So the Oscarf for favourite CSGM for 2024 goes to my coral Faubourg Tropical 🧡❤️🎉

I have been wearing it today and also earlier this week, on a city trip to The Hague, were I finally saw The girl with the pearl earring by Vermeer.

I wish you all a very happy New Years Eve dear scarfies, and al the happiness in the world for 2025 ❤️

this is very very hard, but I think my vote would go to your wonderful Mors et Gourmettes Trellis Jacquard.

The green and red are so lush 😍

And this one gets a separate post but - coming in at the 11th hour of the 2024 Grail Year …. Biggest !Score! Grail is ye most epic of shawls…. Acte III!!! In the purple and pink! Snatched this off Vestiaire for almost half of current retail prices, ladies, and in never worn condition!!!! Over the moon as you can imagine (#seewhatididthere).

This has been quite a year for scarf acquisitions for me as well! This is the first part of my scarf awards.

Most travelled scarf: ELEK - went home to the Philippines with me and on my Japan trip, sadly never got to use it but it's got the most "miles" in terms of travel!

IMG_0048.jpeg

Oldest scarf (literally!): La Soiree a l'Opera - Soirée de Gala - I've been hunting for birth year scarves for each of my family members and found this 1950 original issue in mint condition!

IMG_5883.jpeg

SOTD wins for ultimate grail, didn't expect to find it at all and in mint condition (although the price was way over retail). I'm so thrilled to finally have it! Parures de Samourais in the CW I've been dying to own!

IMG_0237.jpeg

Thank you to our exceptional scarf mistresses for another wonderful year!

Happy new year fellow scarfies, here's to another year of more grail mail and new silky treasures! 🥂🥳 I've enjoyed all the posts and the sense of community in this thread. ❤️

"Resistance is Futile" was the theme of a number of my scarf acquisitions this year. One lesson I have learnt from buying placeholders is that, sooner or later, I will cave and buy the cw I really want. It's difficult to hold back sometimes. There is a design I really want in navy blue. I came across the black cw recently at an excellent price. It took a massive amount of willpower to say No, stop, do not click BIN, go straight to jail!

The winner of the RiF Oscarf is Into the Canadian Wild SE.

I've always wanted it but Canada is a long way from here. I remember @momasaurus driving over the border to buy it. Makes me wonder, if H released a special edition available only in Malaysia or Indonesia, or even Thailand, would I hop on a plane to get it?

I resisted this scarf for years and kept telling myself that I was happy with my red/green cw. Ha! This year, I caved. I have to admit that meeting Alice Shirley changed my mind about a couple of scarves. She was passionate about DuJA and could name every animal on ITCW. It opened my eyes and thus, this final capitulation was only to be expected :shrugs:

First time out of the box today: my new-to-me ITCW, winner of the RiF award!

Oof, it’s gorgeous, especially the swirly river you highlighted. Congratulations!
