Thank you, my dear scarfie friends, for your interest in seeing the scarf I ordered for myself on my birthday! It’s a funny story actually. I ordered this scarf many months ago but returned it, feeling that it didn’t go with anything that I didn’t already have scarves to go with. But I posted a photo before returning it and received many compliments and congratulations! D’oh. So when it showed up again for sale, I waited for it to be discounted and then snagged it! (I knew from previous experience that the stated flaws didn’t really exist - perhaps there was a data entry error - but expected that would deter other potential buyers.) Thanks everyone for weighing in with your wisdom so I could rectify my error 👍🏻View attachment 6107849
This looks so good on you! Glad you were able to finally bring it home for good!

Thank you so much, dear @Maedi and dear @Karenska ! I am very lucky with MrBelle, who is incredibly patient and supportive of our silken obsession. He sends his best wishes to you all, too.

And @Karenska, a little bonus Dragon pic. He has been especially cuddly these last couple of days.

What a darling little Dragon. Oh my word, he’s so cuddly, for sure, Lellabelle.:hbeat:

What a perfect match—absolutely adorable! :flowers:

Hello and happy Christmas morning! Please forgive me for bothering you again with my sweet Baobat Cat but I had to post this, it goes so well with my rose bonbon Christmas present! Merlin was just here to demand his daily breakfast and I gave him a special treat for a special day. I hope you are all enjoying the holidays.🎄🎄🎄
PS No orange boxes under the tree, but no problem, at all.😄View attachment 6107345View attachment 6107346View attachment 6107347View attachment 6107348

I hope you all are having a happy holiday season! Too many beautiful pictures to comment on, but I have loved seeing all of your festive scarf looks. I’m wearing one of my favorite shawls of all time today - Tous Les Bateaux du Monde. I would love to have it in a second colorway but it almost never seems to come up on the resale market. Pics don’t do it justice, the pale green boats practically glow.

Thank you all for your kind comments on my new Cosmographia!

Haha I was thinking that getting a second CW will serve as a kind of backup as well - make me less afraid to use my holy grail cw ..

Thank you! I do love how this cw is a more neutral version but I love them both!

Also I just got a new pair of shoes that was made for this Cosmographia! Channeling @LKBNOLA and @Jereni for my matching picture …

Gorgoues shoes and scarf.. but... i can't believe you placed your shoes on the scarf!!! lol:) Brave lady!

Happy Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, Solstice, or holiday season to all our lovely Scarflandians! I am grateful for this kind and generous community, and thankful for each one of you. Wishing you all joy, peace, health and happiness for the year ahead :hugs:

Whether I have been good or not is very much up for debate, but Santa (or his locally contracted delegate, MrBelle 🤣, anyway) was very kind to me this year. A couple of beautiful silks were released from the vault, with the added benefit of surprise as I never know what he will pick.

SOYD was a special one, and a lucky find quite some time ago, that has been waiting for an occasion. I have long wanted to add a Tyger Tyger, and never thought I’d be lucky enough to chance on the SE. Here it is in all its glory:

And SOTD is my beautiful green Vallee du Cristal, which I am excited to finally get after securing one as soon as they were released, over a year ago, now. Shown here with the permabrass Pegase scarf ring. This combo was made for each other:

Sitting down to enjoy some christmassy cocktails. Season’s greetings all!
🎄☃️❄️

What beautiful presents!!! That SE Tyger is an absolute stunner, congrats! MrBelle did very well.

These 4 artists all contributed just one scarf design.

Micheline J Masson created Les Truites or La Pêche a la Mouche in 1953. There was a reissue in the 70s and/or 90s, but I don't know enough about this design to tell if mine is an original or a re-issue. I have a couple of scarves on the fishing theme because my parents were fishing enthusiasts and we spent many weekends along the rocky coastline as they cast their lines.

I tried searching for info about Masson but found nothing except some articles in French about an actress/singer/radio personality called Micheline Masson. Was she the designer? Perhaps.

I love the characters in N S Harsha's Colour Marsala. He is quite an acclaimed artist!

Nicole Lambert is a French illustrator and author who is well known for the comic strip Les Triples published since the 1980s in the magazine Madame Figaro. The three children, two brothers and their sister, are depicted having adventures and getting up to mischief.

My first Les Triples was the pink cw. Later I added the lavender blue charity edition. I'm quite tempted to get the gav version too.

Another famous cartoonist was invited to create the first scarf design for the new century. In 2000, H issued L'Annee des Nouveaux Jours designed by Jean-Jacques Sempé. It is based on his full color drawing entitled Premiers Pas Dans, “First Steps into…”, which depicts a little boy pulling a toy horse with wheels on a beach. The full colour drawing was used on a coin tray, and the child Le Petit Nicolas and his toy horse was replicated on the scarf.

I must admit that I was not attracted to the scarf because it was so ... blank. I finally bought it for three reasons:
1. The resale price was reasonable.
2. I was pushing my boundaries as I generally prefer busy designs.
3. I found out that Sempé worked with René Goscinny to create a series of children's books based on Le Petit Nicolas. Goscinny was one of the duo who created Asterix, a comic which I read in English and French many years ago when I was studying the language. Good memories!

Wow these are very fun! Interesting that some designers are mysterious… La Pêche is very charming.

OT, because Catherine Baschet created more than 4 designs, but I felt like wearing Qu'importe le Flacon today and this is a photo of my matching "perfume bar" - sadly, I don't have any of the beautiful flacons of the scarf, not even a similar one!🤣View attachment 6107693View attachment 6107694

Perfectly paired! And what an amazing perfume bar. I’m excited to see this bc I think my New Year’s project will be creating a perfume wall display.

Off-topic and sharing some holiday gifts today! SOYE for Chanukah Second Night, a beautiful scarf and super lucky find early in the year that has been biding its time in the gift vault until the holidays. I have loved this for a long time but went with another cw that season (which I also love  ). Even so, this blue kept calling, calling to me so I'm delighted to finally be twins with @scarf1 and @MsMarzipan and I am sure many others...

And today I am wearing my other gifts: Tous en Selle along with new blue earrings that match it perfectly! This was a complete surprise from my lovely DH who simply said, "You have so many blue scarves, and only one pair of blue earrings..." 💙 Paired with a gold holiday sweater and a new scarf ring that many of us have fallen for here in Scarflandia! Delighted to twin with @Croisette7 on this amazing design which is full of surprises and fun touches...

And I am looking forward to spending tomorrow with a cup of tea, some cookies and new books!!!
View attachment 6107698

Omg Tous de Selle is perfection against that sweater! I love the mustard yellow, it’s a color I don’t think I can pull off in a top. Congrats on both of the new beauties.

Also I just got a new pair of shoes that was made for this Cosmographia! Channeling @LKBNOLA and @Jereni for my matching picture …

Those do coordinate fantastically! I love the fringe on them. I zoomed in to check the brand but if I’m not mistaken I don’t think that’s one carried in U.S. stores.

Under my Christmas tree there were two orange boxes waiting for me
View attachment 6107717

One was the popular tulipomanie CSGT from this season - I put it on right away today as my SOTD to run some errands (and some more shoe shopping )
View attachment 6107718

The other was from my DH and my first twilly! En liberté - a perfect match with my grandma‘s newest sewing project
View attachment 6107719

All in all I had wonderful holidays and hope everyone else here had them as well or continues to with celebrating Hannukah or other holidays.

Radiant in your Tulipomanie!!! I keep trying to restrain myself from this one but everyone’s pics are wearing me down.

Scarf coziness with the caramel Orphée.

Very pretty, and looks very cozy with your white sweater. Love your lipstick also.

For my last post for this week, I'll look at 3 designers who have designed (possibly) 3 scarves each.

Lamotte's designs are
La Camargue
Concours Hippique
La Charge

According to Hermes Scarf Guides, "Lamotte was the working name of Gabriel Chefson 1920-2005. He spent his early life around Saumur (in Artannes sur Thouet, close to a place called La Motte) and became an artist and illustrator, well known for his capture of motion and use of unusual viewing angles."

I checked under Gabriel Chefson and his art does indeed embody a fluid sense of movement.

Lenke Szechenzyl designed 3 lovely scarves. Ramage is a popular design, as is Ingrid. My fave is La France Hippique and one of the cws is on my grail list. I found it once several years ago, hit BIN ... and then the seller cancelled the order and ghosted me  So this is a placeholder.
Picsart_22-06-14_22-37-05-399.jpg
As for Szechenzyl, I couldn't find any info at all about this artist :confused1:

Hajine Katagiri created two of my favourite scarves: Chaque Rencontre est Unique and Ginza 2001.
Chaque Rencontre est Unique

Ginza 2001 is said to have been based on the reflections in the glass bricks of the H Ginza building.

Picsart_22-03-16_18-47-47-848.jpg
The 3rd scarf that I know of is a nameless scarf for men’s collex. @marietouchet identified the designer from the signature when a scarfie Jbizzybeetle asked for help with her new mystery scarf.

See you tomorrow when we start our last theme for 2024!

As @xincinsin explained earlier this week, artist Matthieu Cosse has designed three scarves for Hermes. I was surprised to realize that I owned all three.

Isola di Primavera, which is a silk 90

image - 2024-12-27T163744.429.jpg

Au Royaume d'Helios, which is a vintage silk 70

image - 2024-12-27T163602.063.jpg

Les Chiens Parisiens, which is a silk twilly

image - 2024-12-27T163655.235.jpg

And now, I discover that my order from Hermes, which is still on the truck on its way to me, is also by Matthieu Cosse.

Le Livre d'Esope, which is a CSGM, the 140 size

Aesop.jpg

This makes four scarves by this designer, all in different formats. I have to conclude that I like his work.

Cosse has also recently done a window design for Hermes, called Checkmate at the Faubourg. I spy my Au Royaume d'Helios there.

Cosse.jpg

Au Royaume d'Helios is my scarf of the day to finish out this week of new designers. Thank you very much to @xincinsin for leading us through this week. Looking forward to our last week of 2024, and to the new scarf topics in 2025.
