Wintry and lovely. Hot chocolate sounds good to me!My most wintery scarf, and the design that made me seriously fall in love with scarfs.
didn’t think about the scarf when I picked this outfit, so thought it wouldn’t go but is ok.
Now just need a cocktail, does hot chocolate counts given how cold is outside? 😃
Thank you for this, @darkstar66, terrific photos.I thought again about that technique matte blanc overlay. At a time, H used this quite frequently, I think, as you said to add dimension to whites, but also to give a 3 dimensional effect on certain patterns. I have 2 cw of Cent Plis and one has this overlay whereas the other has not. I show here the pink/black one. On La femme, this technique is also applied, but very sparsely, e.g. on the hat of the guide and on the shawl of madame as well as on the ox. @lellado you know if H uses this technique still? I can't remember having seen this in recent designs.View attachment 6103663View attachment 6103664View attachment 6103665View attachment 6103666View attachment 6103667

Thank you, darkstar ... many of them ...Dear @Croisette7 I believe you have all winter scarfs which have ever been issued! Fantastic!![]()
Thank you so much, LKB!These are all divine and especially paired with your lovely holiday brooches @Croisette7-- I spy some twins you inspired me to hunt and I absolutely love that Decoupages featuring the red reindeer and your heart pin! That ethereal pink Plaisir du Froid is also truly lovely and surprising to me...
Beautiful tree and a cozy drink but most of all that pairing of Chirus Stellarum with your sweater and the mini mors ring is superb @Coco2606 ....
It is gorgeous, twin and what a lovely outfit -- the way you featured the grey in the design works fabulously here @FA73!
Thank you @Jereni! I really lean into winter whites and blue at this time of the year!
Thank you, Karenska ... I know it's your most loved one. What a parade, Croisette! Twins with L’Hiver, as you know, and your Glissades, another very festive beauty, is stunning.
Gorgeous, twin. This was my first bandana shawl and the one that sent me led me down the primrose path of these beauties @Nomad!!!! I love the green stars and the paisley that feels like snowflakes in this photo...Sorry not on theme other than saying or let’s picture me singing the famous winter themed song when I woke up….”baby it’s cold outside” and dressing accordingly haha. I put on my heavy sweater coat!!! And paired with zouaves bandana in marine. An absolutely favorite of mine. A definite throw and go

Gorgeous shawl and thank you for the good wishes @HermesEchidna...Good morning!!!
Today, as a native Dane, I embrace the hygge @Karenska introduced yesterday. December is the annual peak of Hygge - treats, candles, friends, family and cosy blankets and other wollen garments. In this spirit I wear a Big warm scarf today. For every cashmere the drink of choise must be glögg - mulled wine - but as it is 7.30 in the morning I will settle for the other hygge drink tea….
These days a part of the hygge is to wrap the presents for next week and the frantic knitting of the last ones. These socks will not be ready….

This is a gorgeous winter-y blue @amdmarques -- I think hot chocolate is my drink of choice too!My most wintery scarf, and the design that made me seriously fall in love with scarfs.

Cannot wait to see and it is so nice to "see" oyu here @momasaurus!Your wish is my command, Karenska. These are all from the archives, but I'll wear this today and take better pix!
I love this @Karenska! My DH made quite a lot of fun of me one year when I bought a bottle of Saint Germain elderflower liquer simply because I adored the shape of the bottle on my bar cart...Today is a busy day for me and I am having lunch with my mother’s cousins, two sisters, one 70 and the other 90, so it will be hyggelig. I’m so excited to see them! I know what I am wearing, scarf-wise, but will save for later. I will leave you with this very important decision to ponder. Which wintry or holiday scarf would you pair with this seasonal drink? @HermesEchidna has already shown us one of her choices!
Mulled white wine
Yield:
About 6 cups (6 to 8 servings)
2 teaspoons whole coriander seed
1 teaspoon whole black peppercorns
½ teaspoon fennel seeds
6 whole allspice berries
2 (750-milliliter) bottles dry white wine
1 cup/8 ounces blanc vermouth
¼ cup/2 ounces honey, preferably acacia or a lighter honey
2bay leaves
¼ cup/2 ounces elderflower liqueur
2 tablespoons/1 ounce fresh lime juice
Step 1
In a large Dutch oven or heavy-bottomed pot set over medium-high heat, add the coriander seeds, peppercorns, fennel seeds and allspice. Toast, stirring frequently, until the spices are fragrant, 2 to 3 minutes
Step 2
Add the wine, vermouth, honey, and bay leaves to the pan. Stir, bring to a simmer, then adjust the heat to low and continue to very gently simmer for 30 minutes. Strain the mulled wine through a fine-mesh sieve, discarding the solids and return to the pan. Stir in the elderflower liqueur and lime juice, and serve warm.
(This recipe from Rebekah Peppler was in the New York Times just a couple of days ago and promises to be a “lighter and brighter” version of the traditional drink, given the substitution of red wine for white.)
Have a silky day!
I love this too @Redbirdhermes-- no overboxes in my order this year but I was happy for the ribbon. I am delighted to be sisters on this beautiful holiday grail. This is a very festive colorway! My Christmas grail scarf is the snow globe of busy shoppers surrounded by a Christmas tree filled with snow flocked branches, brown Buldoc and tiny Christmas toys.

A little extra - I was delighted to see the Christmas greetings and sleigh on the brown Buldoc from a recently received scarf box.

Very festive and pretty @SilkCouture (a reindeer sleigh!!!!-- I forgot about this detail, so thank you!)I couldn’t resist sharing a little winter magic with L’Épopée d’Hermès today. I can’t wait to see all your beautiful scarf moments too!

Beautiful pictures, @darkstar66, to illustrate this subtle technique. You are right, it adds such a dimensional element to colours, too.I thought again about that technique matte blanc overlay. And here it is on the Tulipomanie, pic from H websiteBeautiful pictures, @darkstar66, to illustrate this subtle technique. You are right, it adds such a dimensional element to colours, too.
There are scarfies much more knowledgeable than I about these things, so I hope someone will jump in and add to this, or correct me if I'm wrong. As far as I know, it’s a technique that fell out of useage for some years. Perhaps due to changes in printing and inks? It’s used to great effect in many vintages, as well as classic designs like the ones you show here.
There has been some limited use recently, though I don’t have any examples to photograph. I recall there was some matte blanc overlay used on at least one CW of the Tulipomanie cashmere silk giant triangle (Fall/Winter 2024) and I thought I saw it on the red/vermillion CW of Brides et Destin when I looked at it in store, as well as Couvertures et Tenues Forever edition? Pantin City had matte overlay on some CW I think, in different colours (white in one and a silvery colour in another). And, my little black Chorus Stellarum bandana has a gold overlay on some of the stars. I can photograph that for you later when the light is better.
So, the good news is that it’s still around, and in different tones sometimes too. I love a matte overlay - it’s this attention to ‘extra’ detail that makes Hermes so special.
Thank you so much for these explications. This is really good news. Sometimes I wonder what exactly makes H scarves unique and this is one of the elements, I think.Beautiful pictures, @darkstar66, to illustrate this subtle technique.
