Ah, Swiss wool for your socks! And such glamorous needles! A most hygge result is guaranteed. Please show them when they are finished. And of course a magnificent shawl...😍Good morning!!!
Today, as a native Dane, I embrace the hygge @Karenska introduced yesterday. December is the annual peak of Hygge - treats, candles, friends, family and cosy blankets and other wollen garments. In this spirit I wear a Big warm scarf today. For every cashmere the drink of choise must be glögg - mulled wine - but as it is 7.30 in the morning I will settle for the other hygge drink tea….
These days a part of the hygge is to wrap the presents for next week and the frantic knitting of the last ones. These socks will not be ready….

Love this color! 😍Sorry not on theme other than saying or let’s picture me singing the famous winter themed song when I woke up….”baby it’s cold outside” and dressing accordingly haha. I put on my heavy sweater coat!!! And paired with zouaves bandana in marine. An absolutely favorite of mine. A definite throw and go

I thought again about that technique matte blanc overlay. At a time, H used this quite frequently, I think, as you said to add dimension to whites, but also to give a 3 dimensional effect on certain patterns. I have 2 cw of Cent Plis and one has this overlay whereas the other has not. I show here the pink/black one. On La femme, this technique is also applied, but very sparsely, e.g. on the hat of the guide and on the shawl of madame as well as on the ox. @lellado you know if H uses this technique still? I can't remember having seen this in recent designs.Beautiful! Another one that compliments your eyes, and Fluffy’s too! I am your sister in an icy blue colourway of this charming design and also fell in love with the happy, purposeful dogs! Mine was preloved, and came to me in nowhere near as lovely condition as yours, which makes me less nervous to wear it (even though it’s one of the paler scarves I own). I must remember to pull it out this week.
Thank you for posting the close up of the matte blanc overlay; this is one of the clearest pictures of it that I have seen and really serves to show the contrast between the glossy silk and the matte overlay. It adds such dimension to whites, doesn’t it?
This PdS is so, so stunning. You look amazing!Good morning!!!

Season’s Greetings, dear Scarfies, as we enter the final seventeen days of the year and begin the many religious and cultural celebrations of light with our families and friends. Many thanks to @bunnycat for hosting T-Z week. No doubt we are all busy doing something associated with the upcoming holidays, or more likely, MANY things. This week we’ll help celebrate the warmth and goodness of this “so hallowed and so gracious” time by showing off our seasonal beauties.
Let It Snow: winter-themed and festive scarves, chic holiday styling, or pair your scarf with a holiday cocktail or mocktail!
A scarf that always makes its appearance during the holidays is the lovely Joies d’Hiver by Joachim Metz, brimming with gorgeous details.

This jacquard treasure depicts a wintry scene of Victorian skaters in their fashionable finery. There are not one but two jacquard skater motifs designs and it has the added beauty of matte blanc overlay, a technique that adds paint, often white, for special effects. In this design, the technique is employed for ice and snow (thank you @Ashanti_Rose for providing a definition of matte blanc on another thread in January 2023).

Another gorgeous seasonal scarf is Plumes et Grelots by Julie Abadie. It, too, is a jacquard fabric featuring a holly and berries design - so very pretty. This is my favorite colorway. I don’t own this design and I would love to see some mod shots of those who do own this lovely silk.

So let’s see your wintry delights and remember, any scarf you choose to show is welcome, on-theme or not.

That is indeed amazing, but also sad because it suggests reduction in habitat for these creatures. And not a little dangerous to humans. Wow!Thank you. And yes it’s nuts to me having grown up here and coming back. Wolves just walk right down our streets. Coyotes have been seen laying down on peoples front porches or decks or covered stoops.
My DD walking home from work last year at 11pm was greeted by a wolf prancing down the center of our street like a dog. She got a photo. And then every night for weeks between 10 and midnight I imagine it’s the same wolf doing it every night.
Thank you, dear Maedi!A wise and timely reminder. Thank you ❤️ You look beautiful in these colors.
What a parade, Croisette! Twins with L’Hiver, as you know, and your Glissades, another very festive beauty, is stunning.some winter pics from the archive
