Resolution 5: let it go!

I think I've found the perfect anthem for the cruel dilemmas of the sorting collector. If my scarves could talk, I'm sure they'd be singing the Clash lyrics... (And I'd rather have that tune in my head than the Snow Queen... sorry if I polluted your eardrums...)

Until recently, the idea of rehousing a scarf was unthinkable for me. Nevertheless, the recent inventory is positive in that it makes me take a step back. So does @momasaurus ' courageous approach.
Anyway, I first considered the "butterflies in the stomach" effect that absolutely defines the favourites. Instead of wondering who should go, I prefer to select those I want to cherish (I have a lot of love to give). Finally, here is the pile of "slightly less loved than the others". I'd love your opinion.

I have to say that once the boxes were opened, it was like the first day again!
So should they stay or should they go?
SOTD, which almost went in the pile of all dangers and then I remembered that it looks great on black and goes well with this mohair jumper.

Huge Clash fan!!!!

You do greens so well @Karenska - I don’t know that I’ve seen that Acte III colorway and I’m gobsmacked!

Oh my heavens @Redbirdhermes that Sieste!

@Foxy trini it’s always a delight to see you and those pinks are fab!

Beautiful scarf @Awillow - that hem!

@ivy1026 that ties so well!

Such fun hems @Pirula and always with a gorgeous lippie!

Another great Chat @MAGJES / love the pastel border against the yellow hem

@Langsam such a fabulous geometric design l! The contrast hem really keeps it corralled and that knot shows off the design and hem magnificently

Another amazing Sieste! @bunnycat your hot pinks are… hot

@Teaforparrots i hope you’re improving - Bobby is being such a good nurse. The border on SdS is divine!

@Coco2606 the hem is indeed ass-kicking!

@LKBNOLA that RdS is an unbelievable colorway! And I’ll always adore a good animal parade

@EtsyBoss the color combo is enthralling - love that you paired it with navy

@Cookiefiend you know I love that scarf and colorway, but I love Coco more!

Gosh @CedarWaxWing that pairing is amazeballs! I feel a CCP coming on…
Thank you Snausages!

Fantastic! Showcases both aspects perfectly twin! :ghi5:

Good morning everyone! My examples today feature scarves where the border provides a "frame" for the design. Not everyone likes this feature; some scarfies have a strong preference for an end-to-end design and visually, whereas a contrast or "non-sequitur" hem as @Pirula has dubbed it, can be a charming, fun or dramatic feature, sometimes a frame border makes its own demands of scarf and wearer. From the small format to the large here are some examples from my collection:

These are all fantastic examples LKB! Congrats on your new CSGM! I love the bold graphics of it.
Attempting my very first SOTD post. I cannot figure out how to take a decent me in my scarf selfie, so I am giving myself a little grace for my first post.

In keeping with the happy hems theme, I wore my only design with bicolor hems (I have this in 2 formats). Unfortunately, you cannot see the hems in the photo! Ha! Failure all around!

But here she is. Millefleurs du Mexique, 140cm in mousseline. She is very floofy and I struggle with a good knot. Suggestions welcome!

Edited to add photo of how I retired it into a headband using an off- brand chaine d’ancre style ring.

Welcome to SOTD! I think you tied it beautifully! Don't worry, it took a while to bend the larger formats to my will. They are definitely tamable. I promised to put some easy large format examples in this thread, but you might enjoy browsing it to see what is in there:

SOTD with one of the best borders and hems. Pelages et Camoflages. So exotic and definitely edgy. View attachment 5688293

I love PetC! It really ties so well....

I’ve not gotten too spend much time in Scarflandia over the last few weeks so will be trying to catch up as I prefer not to miss anything any of you post.

This is what I wore to the office today: Coupons Indiens, tying in the little bits of green on this otherwise perky, even joyful colorway on a very gray-skyed day. I love the fuchsia contrast hem and all the pinks and corals and mango. It’s one of my favorites that I purchased last summer.

What a great way to think about the border - as a frame... not a border (as in Thou Shall Not Cross) and as a thing to be avoided.
Thank you!
(and thank you too for the reminder that I still have knot worn my RL gav... :nono: shame on me!!)

It sure does, Bunnycat. It’s a spectacular design, never realized it until dear Lkbnola alerted me to a nice one on TRR and well, now it’s one of my favs.

This is such a fabulous graphic wonder of a scarf and that green hem just seals the deal @Langsam. So nice to see you here. I love this paired with burgundy, too.

YASS - that's marvelous!

I love the green trim! Pink and green is one of my favorite combos and this looks wonderful, especially against your maroon top.

Twins Langsam! Love how you tied it.

I love a nonsequitur hem!
@Langsam such a fabulous geometric design l! The contrast hem really keeps it corralled and that knot shows off the design and hem magnificently
Thank you all for your like and kind comments! I'm enjoying the parade of hems this week.
