Happy Almost New Year, Scarflandia. With a very warm thank you to @Agrume for hosting us through cashmere week. Thank you also to everyone for sharing so many wonderful pieces-- they are all so beautiful and as @Agrume said, they each assume a particular individuality with each wearer, which is so nice to see.
I would like to close by sharing my first grail CSGM-- and my most recent. I was quite late to the party on this format, but once I dipped my toe in the water, I was quickly swimming in the deep end! After acquiring a few in the regular seasons, I started haunting the Ode to CSGM thread and compiling "The Wish List." At the very top of that list was Parures de Samurais, which was a "gateway design" for me-the one that started it all. I am still a bit afraid of this beautiful piece and tend to baby it more than I should but my New Year's Resolution is to actually wear some of my grail acquisitions. We shall see how I do!
View attachment 5920352
And my most recent acquisition, which I was fortunate to find at a fair price, was another design I have collected in multiples because I love it so much. Introducing my new-to-me Ex Libris en Kimonos in cw 07-- a beautiful, lush, astonishing wonder. I am thrilled to have it. (Editing to add that I am pretty sure I am twins with @Croisette7!).

Dear @LKBNOLA these are so unbelievably beautiful! Congrats to finding such grails! Their colors are perfect and you wear them with elegance - like you always do! Thank you for a year full of showing gorgeous photos and sharing your collection with all of us! I wish you a wonderful New Year

Happy Saturday, Scarflandia, and here is the last weekend of 2023! Time flies indeed!

I love this week’s theme as I almost exclusively wear cashmere 140 year round. Here is my latest addition to my shawl collection - Silk Mix by Elias Kafouros, which was issued as part of men’s collection in 2019.

Happy New Year everyone - may the new year brings us grail scarves and many fabulous opportunities to wear them!

I love the very different, sort-of chalk drawing effect of this.

31 Dec 2023 The Oscarfs Return! Awards for the best of the best buys of 2023

Wishing everyone in Scarflandia a Happy New Year’s Eve! As our silken year comes to an end, I’d like to say that it has been an absolute pleasure to spend time here week after week and an honor to be able to host this, my favorite week on SOTD.

We finally have a chance to tally up all our silk acquisitions of the year. I plan to share all the scarves that entered my collection in 2023: new season scarves, oldies found on the resale market and Grails fulfilled. This is the week our 2023 silks walk the red carpet and receive The Oscarfs!
View attachment 5920812

This was a wonderful year for me as far as silks go. I was able to collect my favorites from each season and to add a variety of formats to my collection. I found some coveted Grails and accomplished a bit of CCP as well.

I begin by choosing my favorite scarves from each season and now present my Oscarf for Best Scarf of the Spring/Summer 2023 Collection to Costume de Fete. I fell in love with this design and got it in two CWs
View attachment 5920806

View attachment 5920807

My Oscarf to the Best Scarf of the Fall/Winter 2023 Collection goes to Parade en Fanfare.
View attachment 5920809

I continue with a magnificent surprise I received as a Christmas gift… My only double-sided scarf of the year and a true masterpiece IMO: Brandebourgs Fleuri. This one is in a category of its own as I am in blown away by its beauty. Perhaps it should win the Oscarf for Favorite Double-Sided Scarf and Newest Grail.
View attachment 5920808

And, finally, a Grail that I had almost lost hope of ever finding again. My Oscarf for Best Grail of the Year goes to Dans un Jardin Anglais. In March of 2019, I ran across this design in the fuchsia CW at my local Hermès boutique. I tried it on and left it behind for I had a huge wishlist that season. When I returned to the store a few days later, it was gone. I’ve regretted doing that ever since as, with time, it became an elusive dream. Well, this year I was able to make that dream a reality and here it is. Below, a picture I took in 2019 when I tried on at Hermès and that has haunted me until very recently when I was finally able to make it mine.

I look forward to a fabulous week as we recap our silken journey this year. Needless to say, our actual SOTDs are always welcome as well as our scarf mail. I invite everyone to participate in giving out our 2023 Oscarf awards as we celebrate another great year in this forum and welcome a new year together in this wonderful community.
Dear Fifi first a big thankyou for letting us all participate in your gorgeous collection of scarves, jewelry (and umbrellas!).
I have learned a lot via your sharing of your vast knowledge!
And your Oscarf-scarves really are worthy of the prize! Congrats to finding a Jardin in this perfect CW!
Wishing you and your family a wonderful New Year! ♥️

I didn't get to participate much this week and with it being vacation I did have some time to take a really close look at collection, and wash and iron a whole bunch!! Sorry for doing a photo dump. It just been helpful for me to see 🙇‍♀️

Here is my csgm collection in entirety of a total of 8.( 2 others on resale pile). I have about 6 more on a wishlist, spanning a wider color range like adding red.

Sorry such a big post!!
Don't be sorry for a big post with such great pictures!
I agree, maybe add some red - and please show us what you get!
Don't rehome that bronze/rose moussie changeant. It's too wonderful.

How is it the end of 2024?? What a year!

My first Oscarf goes to... me! For discovering Hermès this summer and falling in love with scarves. I have purchased 11 silks over the past few months: five twillies, three 45s, three 90s. And I also received a muffler for Christmas.

View attachment 5920862

My Oscarf for best design goes to Parade en Fanfare, of which I have one twilly, one gavroche, two 90s. Just need one of the cashmere 65 versions to complete the set...

View attachment 5920865

And a special mention Oscarf for the one that nearly got away - La Vallee de Cristal. The gris colourway wasn't my first or even third choice, but it was the only one that landed on the UK website this year. I'm so glad I talked myself into it!

View attachment 5920867

Plus a best supporting Oscarf goes to my collection of coloured plastic chains for helping me find new ways to wear a twilly.

View attachment 5920866

Massive thanks to our wonderful SOTD team for hosting and to everyone for sharing their beautiful scarves and stories. Wishing you all a happy, healthy and prosperous 2024.
So glad you found our krazy klub. Love your colorful necklaces and your clever use of twillies - you really do rock the small formats!

I have been quite behind on this thread and just lost a giant mega-quote. So, let me please just say that I have been admiring everyone's wonderful posts and collections. So much beauty!

This was my first year on SOTD, and I am so grateful to be part of this vibrant, warm, smart, fun and inspiring community. Thank you all for a great year.

A big thank you to our scarf mistresses and guest scarf mistresses for all the thought, care, humor, and knowledge you put into making SOTD a wonderful place to share, laugh, and ponder all things scarf related.

Happy New Year, everyone!

Happy Saturday and Christmas Eve Eve, everyone! And, so we come to the end of our week… I have had a blast compiling these posts and, most of all, browsing through so many amazing pictures shared by all here… Thank you so much for your generous and most gracious reception to my offerings and for allowing me to participate…

The true jewels of this forum are not our jewelry or scarves: it is each and everyone of you!

So, I conclude by sharing a few more fun collages beginning with these magnificent dragonfly brooches/pendants by the genius of Sorrell. The wings are fashioned from carved art glass and the body from an array of clear rhinestones. I own a green and a yellow one and sometimes attach them to a Vrba pearl torsade. Here both worn with two different Cws of Carnaval des Oiseaux giant silk and Vrba earrings

And, here some favorite Native American and silver pieces… The two necklaces are vintage Zuni corn maiden fetish necklaces. The colorful one at right consists of a strand of various handcrafted, detailed stone fetishes depicting a variety of animals, fish and birds crafted from turquoise, gaspeite, lapis lazuli, malachite, sugilite, jasper, and jet. The large centerpiece features a traditional corn maiden. Both are worn with different CWs of Kachinas giant triangle. The earrings top left are Old Pawn Navajo coral, turquoise and silver, also with Kachinas…

It is suspended from a vintage silver “Navajo pearls” strand and is paired with Wa Ko Ni… Also with Wa Ko Ni, vintage sterling earrings by Deborah West of the Lipan Apache tribe. The engraved discs are centered by malachites and feature dangles of silver, malachite and lapis tubular beads capped by arrowhead, feather and moon and star charms. Wishing everyone a Happy Festivus, wonderful rest of the week and joyful and peaceful Christmas season

Nobody with me right now, but if you could see me, I'm giving you a 20mins-min standing ovation, whistles, throwing red roses and screaming encore :woot:

I wish I had had more time to contribute this week, as I love the jewellery and scarf pairing theme. I couldn’t let the week close without adding two of my favourite pairings, which are very special to me:

My most unique and striking pearl piece, a custom ring that my husband had made for our 20th wedding anniversary. A massive Tahitian black pearl, set in rose gold fashioned in the shape of coral, set with black diamonds. Shown here with a peek of PDS:

Thank you for sharing your lovely On a Summer's Day @LKBNOLA. This year I collected CSGMs, next year I'm looking at CSGTs, and this is one I'd like to try. I agree with you, it's an interesting format and is just right for certain situations.
Thank you @MabelJo! I will be so curious to see your choices! Always fun to start the New Year with some Scarf Goals!!!
Thank you LKB for your kind comment! I knew of the Silk Mix design as a friend of mine is a keen collector of designs from the men's collections. I don't have a secret source or a collection strategy (lol) - just the same second hand market! I do lean towards getting multiple colorways of the designs I already have - if I like something, then I REALLY like it and would want to double the joy:smile:

As far as wearing grails, I am quite bold with cashmeres and do wear them a lot - unless I have second thoughts about my acquisitions and entertain the possibility of reselling (in which cases I abstain from wearing them). Having said that, I do spend quite a bit of time caring for my shawls to keep them looking "young'n'fresh" (aka de-fuzzing, de-piling, fixing pulls, steaming, pressing - you name it:smile: With proper care and some investment, they can last a long time and look like new, so wear them and enjoy them - they deserve it!
I think you are just a really discerning and sharp-eyed collector @Ashanti_Rose and you always make such interesting points. I could use some pointers on all your shawl maintenance strategies--especially de-fuzzing my lovely new consignment finds! Also it is so disappointing that the men's collection has no new 140s! It is always fun to sneak over there and see what's available...
WOW, just wow! :woohoo:Such stunning shawls @LKBNOLA. This is my first year collecting CSGMs and I already have four in my collection - they are addictive! Thank you for the lovely examples and inspiration.
They are totally addictive @MabelJo! I made myself a very strict Wish List of older designs, including my two grails (missing two more) and have been ruthlessly on task. Sometimes one gets lucky and finds some extra CSGM joy in unexpected places...
I didn't get to participate much this week and with it being vacation I did have some time to take a really close look at collection, and wash and iron a whole bunch!! Sorry for doing a photo dump. It just been helpful for me to see 🙇‍♀️

So grateful for the beautiful silks, fabulous styling and gorgeous jewelry/jacket combos you share with us, as well as your always lovely and gracious comments to each person here. And speaking of amazing combos-- your beautiful silk cuffs! So perfect with your stunning PdS. :flowers:
You and LKBNOLA model the Summer Day CSGT so convincingly… should I get it, too?
You should, you should @Agrume! And @Marta_K is about to enable you also! It has a lovely balance and many colors that you will really love.... Happy New Year to you! Enjoy your sojourn in Berlin.
Sorry for not posting actively over the last weeks / months - I am reading posts every morning, thinking ‘I need to take a picture today‘ and then in the evening - I realize I have forgotten it again. Thanks to everyone for showing your beautiful scarfs and shawls, for the well chosen themes and for always being friendly, supportive and generous with your knowledge.
It’s fabulous to know (and be somehow part of) a group of individuals from all over the world who share the same passion. Thanks everyone for this wonderful year!

I stumbled across this forum and thread somewhat in the middle of 2023. I had purchased some H scarfs in the past but stopped when my local H store closed. This thread has resurrected my love for H scarfs. This year I have purchased 3 silks and my first CSGM. They all win an Oscarf as they are all different - one twilly, one CSGM, one vintage 90, one new 90.

And of course one last view of my much loved cashmere and silk scarves, CSGMs, triangles, a pointu and a wool-silk mix.
