Resolution number 3: shop in my collection.
Scarves always have a special reason to appeal to me. I may have a list of criteria, but there are still many temptations... For example, this year I'm going for Costume de fête and the little beads on the edge... My "Arbre du vent" will help me wait or resist!

Another delight is Le jardin des peintres. I like several colours but I'll have to try them. For the blue and pink, "Plumes en fête" and "Index palmarum" will do for today

@Coco2606 why get a double face when you’ve created one of your own - the pairing is a delight!
Hello my dear scarf friends! I am thrilled by the great photos and information and enjoy the thread now already to the fullest.
Unfortunately, I was sick the last few days and have already missed the connection a little, but could start today with my color scheme problem scarves.

I don't have that many grand scarves (I'm terribly embarrassed, but for the life of me I can't remember it CGSM GSCM GSCM....) - And compared to you, of course, ridiculously few 90 cm scarves. I think the silk scarves suit me better because they have a bit of a sheen to them, the muted one of the CSGM GSCM - you know what I mean - doesn't suit me as well in my opinion.

So for now. let's have a look at the grand carres I own and the problems I have with some of them.

Apologies for the pictures, I'm not feeling particularly well yet, and I'm pretty unphotogenic unfortunately. AND I gained a lot of weight. I personally think, that I need a slimmer face to make the scarves look good, so some pictures are from those glory times when I ate properly and went to the gym on a regular basis......

View attachment 5682512

Let's start with the scarf I've been dying to get: Large Triangle Sweet dreams in shades of green. I find it a little bit "dull" on me, althoug I really LOVE the desing and am a true Baijtlik- fan:

View attachment 5682513

Let's move on to my problem scarf: Mytiques Phoenix in orange / blue.
The scarf has sentimental value for me. I bought it when I realized that I need to get away from certain people to be happy. So the scarf was an anticipated symbol of success, so to speak - and I wear it with pride today. The Birkin, which I requested at the same time, I still do not have, however.

That the colors do not look good on me I was aware at the time, but unfortunately not how bad they look..... I combine the scarf with earrings that were dirt cheap (8 euros?), but match the design perfectly - hopefully they never break

View attachment 5682516

let's move on to Sweat Dream men's scarf- I wear it really seldom although I fought for it SO hard at the boutique. Perhaps that memory is attached to the scarf.. Sadly because I utterly love the design. And the typo "sweat dreams" Lord, I had to sweat for it... I took the foto today, you can clearly see that I am still sick and gained a ton! I am sorry for the ugly pic:sad:

View attachment 5682530

Now let's have a look at my two most loved carres in big sizes:

Firstly: Fantasie indiennes. Initially bough to hang it on the wall but I loved it so much, that I decided to wear it. It came to me to Stockholm, to Rome, to Nizza, to Paris, to Vienna, to Triest and literally everywhere. That said I am still fighting with the yellow parts in it.

View attachment 5682532

and the last one in my small collection of bigger formats: la danse des Amazones. I figured out that the orange blue colorscheme of my Phoenix doesn't work so good for me, so I searched for a design I liked in red- tones. Initially I wanted to purchase Bingata, but didn't like it on me and fell in love with the little wise owl on it. Sadly I pulled a string at exactly that element of the carre with my morganite ring I purchased to wear it together with the scarf.

I’ve often said everyone would feel better about themselves and f only we saw ourselves through other people’s eyes - you’re stunning @millivanilli As for self-care… I’ve been more affected by re-entry to normalcy vs covid isolation - I’ve got to snap back into things and you have many comrades in arms in that regard.

But… I simply must know more about your fluffy white friend!

And I’m envious of your Sweet Sweat GT! It has proven elusive and though friends in Canada have offered to enable me I fear choosing a colorway that makes me go ‘hmmmm’. But I’ve got 2 of the lens 100s so I don’t feel too sorry for myself. I really wanted the bright that you have but alas it didn’t agree with my coloring. The two I have (the dark blue, and the red/teal) both came via friends and the colors make me happy when I wear them
Gorgeous, leechiyong. I love this Creamsicle colorway. We are sisters - mine’s like LifeSavers. Archive shot.

The colorway I covet! @Karenska its impossible to not smile when seeing this
Happy New Year Scarfies! Thank you for the articulate posts of resolutions and lessons learned on our little thread and saluting all our current and past scarves mistresses for keeping our thread lively and interesting!

As my silk collection has reached a point of no more space in the tansu, I am definitely in that period of life of editing to as few scarves and shawls as possible. Last season I received only one very special silk and it was more expensive being a marble silk. I truly thought I could stay on my 90 ban forever but broke that resolution since the process of the marble silk and its design captured my heart.

So, to aid in this process, I go through my edits with the hope that rehoming them so that these beautiful scarves can be worn and appreciated by others as well as my letting go of things that I just can’t seem to wear due to current lifestyle changes. There are a number of designs that still take my breath away just looking at them, but the majority seem to be languishing in their boxes or shelves. that is the bigger battle for my heart.

Wearing what I have is my simple resolution as well as letting go. The new year is a time to refresh, renew and to pare down my life in general! I’m excited to leap into these goals immediately! Wishing you all great success, good health and scarf happiness for 2023!

Fouets et Badines Marble silk worn bandelero style:smile:

For me, the Men’s collection are very good investment pueces and I love the 100 size format. I’ve yet to edit a Men’s scarf from the tansu.

View attachment 5682599
@lanit these are both fabulous! Love the men’s 100, and compared to the women’s section they’re a steal!
Today I tried to live up to my resolution to wear my silk carrés more often and went for my most difficult one: Tapis Persans 140 silk with lots of slippery fabric. The knot is not terribly exciting but at least I managed to wrangle it in place and make it stay there.

View attachment 5682597
Ok I love this knot @Thelittlefoxes and would love to know how you games the slippery swath of silk!
Wow so many beautiful posts since late last night! I am heading out to do errands in my personal favorite Tresors d'un Artiste. I have collected two of this design (second one below mod shot) and thought of culling to one but as was pointed out with @Redbirdhermes' two very different cws, each has its place in my "Scarfdrobe"-- a wonderful new portmanteau word coined by a darling scarfie friend!

Thank you @bunnycat!

Occupational hazard for a Scarf Mistress @xincinsin -- happy reconnoitering!

Me too, @leechiyong and I live by the Bayou so....

It is gorgeous on you @bunnycat and I am happy to be your twin and sister and even though I have dogs and not cats, I have more cat scarves because they are so beautiful, including Le Chat Carre [gulp]...

It would be an interesting theme to consider other elements of scarf design besides color @Lellabelle-- scale, contrast, balance etc. I know I have learned a lot from my mistakes-- not every blue scarf is a winner and sometimes the most "left field" designs work like a charm. Sometimes it is magic and defies analysis and sometimes we can figure it out and work with it!

Solidarity post here (with over the top earrings and a sassy cat tongue front and center!)

This is such a lovely, wise and generous post @Cookiefiend. Thank you for your thoughts and encouragement to us all :hugs:

Hahaha. Jinx. I owe you a coke @Redbirdhermes...
Love the knot @LKBNOLA and tthe colorways of Tresors really are so different - I understand some folks’ reluctance for multiples but truly these scarves are quite discreet. And love the puddytats!
Thank you, Snausages. Your comment got me to thinking, and please allow me to expand on it. You are referring to the new Le Carnaval des Animaux, CW09, which I think of as primarily a medium to dark blue and green scarf which does work well with my brown and taupe tops.

This past year I rehomed several brown and taupe scarves, because wearing them was more ‘I should’ than ‘I feel good’. Those that went included a brown Trophees de Venise, a brown Casse Noisette and a taupe L'Instruction du Roy. I like wearing brown tops, but apparently that doesn't necessarily extend to my scarves. However, never say never, as I absolutely adore my brown Jardins d'Hiver. That scarf is staying.

View attachment 5682260View attachment 5682262View attachment 5682263

I've already replaced the Trophees de Venise with a green colorway, and while the Casse Noisette has not been replaced, I do like the design and will wait for a better colorway.

My SOTD is my replacement Trophees de Venise, after the brown scarf left through the CCP. I'm wearing my medium brown sweater today. I like this pretty scarf.

Ok now I long for a CCP week! Lovely choices and evolution @Redbirdhermes
Dear scarfies, my resolve is being tested. Yours truly flew to Bangkok today. I brought only one scarf with me as this is not a scarf-friendly trip. I valiantly walked past the H at Changi Airport Terminal 2 and pretended that I didn't see it. Then I checked into my Bangkok hotel, looked out of my 17th Floor hotel room ... And I spy the H boutique across the road (face-palm).
Do share what you’re coming home with @xincinsin
:spiderweb:
I would say "stay strong" but I'd be lying as I would not be able to contain myself and go in for a "look see"...

A minor resolution in the last year or so was that I "had enough" cat themed scarves so I tried and tried to give Lazy Leopardesses a miss since I have several (3) Jaguar Quetzal scarves, as well as Ardmore Artists, Tigre Royal and several Dallet. Surely that was enough???

I am glad to have finally given in to this scarf because it is indeed very easy to wear, and I don't think it interferes with my others. But I really am fairly complete in the cat scarf department now. I did successfully avoid the Chat Carre' as every one I tried on was too pastel, and it was very prominent on the borders and so a no go for me. I am going to look at the new JL stamped b/c...Jungle Love.... and I think it will be a very unique take on the JL design if the colors suit me. (Thanks a lot @LKBNOLA for the mod shot of your CW, and @Snausages for the boutique pics that sealed the deal on the red and bronze CW being a possibility for me. ) After this, if I start down the Cat Print Path again (officially CPP now, not to be confused with CCP) you can all collectively :bagslap: me.

My lovely Lazy Leopardesses from yesterday.

I recall visiting a boutique while vacationing and was vacillating over scarves and mused out loud ‘I already have a lot of blue scarves’ to which the SA replied ‘that tells me you like blue’. The heart wants what the heart wants @bunnycat and I’m sure Miss Snickers approves
Yukky weather today but Petite Main brightened things up!

Love these brights @Teaforparrots as well as the lovely wreath!
Loving this week! My favorite design - cosmographia Universalis - was in hardcore ccp this year! I had three 90 silks and was very unhappy with two of them. Over the course of the year I admitted to myself that I purchased the white/pink/green colorway because it was available online and because my best friend said she thought it was pretty. I purchased the popular lilac, blue and pink colorway because of just that - popularity! I remembered how at the time, I saw the warm coral colorway and a little voice whispered - this would look best on you. But I ignored it in favor of going along with the masses and ease of purchase! I am proud of correcting that this year, offloading the two silks that weren’t working, and treated myself to this little beauty. Finally, the cosmographia that fits best with me!

Love these colors @laurenad and relate to the ‘so-and-so said it looks good on me’ purchase decision. Thank heavens for the CCP!

Happy New Year to all of you lovely Scarfies!

My resolutions are as follows:

1) To try to actually wear my scarves more often! As I am just about permanently stuck in bed, I tend to slob around in pyjamas all day. I must try to put on something nice on my top half, plus some earrings, and get out one of my gorgeous scarves or shawls and wear it! What’s the point in owning these lovelies if I don’t wear them. Even if it is just for a couple of hours?

2) Follow this year’s thread! I kept up with the threads a few years ago, but have dropped off for the last couple. This moves so fast and I find it difficult to keep up. But I will try because you are such a lovely community on here.

And this is a photo of Jardin de la Maharani from yesterday:

Thank you, @Living.la.vida.fifi , for a wonderful week of reviewing our favorite purchases of 2022 and helping us to go out of 2022 in style. Thank you, @bunnycat , for starting us off this year with our New Year’s scarf resolutions.

When I first began collecting Hermès scarves, my goal was to have enough scarves to cover the Scarf of the Day themes. The pandemic helped by curtailing many of my other activities, and I achieved that initial goal in less than three years. During 2022 I realized that there were certain designs and colors that I simply didn’t wear, so I began selling a few of my scarves last year.

My goal for 2023 is to sell more scarves than I acquire. FedEx inadvertently helped my cause yesterday by arriving on the last day of 2022 with four scarves from the new season. By my H accounting that makes them 2022 scarf acquisitions, rather than 2023. So, I’m starting with a clean slate as of today, with no 2023 acquisitions yet.

Still, let’s begin this brand new year with a brand new scarf. Le Carnaval des Animaux, CW09 in bleu jean/vert/beige, is darker than many of the S/S 2023 colorways, and goes well with the colors in my winter clothing wardrobe.

Bias fold with dark green top.

View attachment 5681577

The knot I learned from @Agrume last year with pale tan top. This is my necklace of Fijian pearls.

View attachment 5681578

Asymmetric fold with brown sweater. This top is the same color as the scarf hem.

View attachment 5681579

Light gray sweater with cowboy knot. Tahitian pearls with blue overtones. One advantage of winter where I live is that total snow cover acts like a giant white lightbox, making my pearls look their very best.

View attachment 5681581

Golden brown top with a simple triangle drape because I wanted to show the elephant.

Really like this scarf in this cw. Thanks for all the beautiful mod shots!

:hugs: @Coco2606.

This is a very funny little vignette @FizzyWater -- I think @bunnycat's lipstick rescue strategy could help next time...

How beautiful (and fitting for your errand!) @Coco2606 ...

Thank you so much @Katharina Luise!

This is my absolute favorite cw of Tresors @Redbirdhermes. Congratulations on finding it. I know how much this scarf resonates with you because of your artist daughter. I would put your blue one into CCP-Add Division and keep it as @Katharina Luise and @Cookiefiend suggested for a nice spring/summer alternative to your gorgeous new khaki cw. And I am on a "light blue diet" also for the rest of 2023...

Thank you! J Crew has this "rollneck sweater in supersoft yarn" or that makes a sweater feel lived in and cozy even when brand new. And they do not itch at all!

Thank you @Katharina Luise -- I think you may have just had a big drop of new scarves to go with your new increases  Another reason for me to be happy I was able to get my shopping done in 2022 even if the pieces don't arrive until 2023.

Beautiful @laurenad-- I always love seeing your picks and was wondering where your new color adventures would lead! This scarf has one of the all time best foliage corners that I can ever remember and it is particularly striking in this cw. Congratulations on a lovely addition...and that green hem!

This is so pretty on you @Teaforparrots and once again your menagerie mod shot action comes with a smile guarantee...

I love this Lipstick-as-Decoy-Purchase strategy @bunnycat! And once you own the cute magnetic cases you can even just buy a refill for even greater economy +orange bag satisfaction!

Thank you so much @EtsyBoss and for articulating the scarf-top issue so clearly!

You look beauiful in your Robe Legere with your tres chic jacket and lovely hair @Lellabelle. I think you are doing a fine job of enjoying your scarves. It took the Pandemic, ironically enough, for me to de-fetishize the scarves I had at the time. I thought I might never wear them again in company so I began wearing one every day and that habit is now a daily practice, like Wordle and my morning readings and walking the dogs!

This is just stunning @Awillow. I know what you mean about scarf divesting. In my CCP I have a loophole! I call it the CCP-Add Division. No replacement just an addition! Voila! Not guilt-free but...easier than its stricter sister the CCP-Replace Division...See? Scarfies can rationalize anything!

Thank you @Snausages and for my other twin @Nomad: the knot is just a bias fold then grab the tails about mid-chest twist and make a knot. Tuck the tails of the knot into the knot folds anyway that works. I take them around the back side of the knot. Spread out the folds a bit/play with it till it features part of the color or design you want to show and you're off!

Wow-- I love this @leechiyong and I love your Bayou with Love scarf ring! Is it the beaded one?

I agree with everything in your post @Thelittlefoxes and I hope you will find a way to participate more actively in 2023. I miss your thoughtful comments and remarkable observations!

Oh, @Stylehound what an amazing and enjoyable post! I am truly sorry that you had such an abominable year. I myselwas very ready to put 2022 in the rearview mirror for a host of reasons and I found my morning stops at TPF were a bright spot in otherwise difficult days. I am sure that will continue, but I hope that 2023 will be a Kinder, Gentler Year for us all and for you! Your H Math in bullet point #4 was an absolute exercise in pyrotechnic numbers-- In fact, I was panting hard to keep up with you by the end! We are probably not the best group to look to for addiction resistance strategies but I am looking forward to more stunning mod shots from you as you try out new knots and casual stylings. Also you have now got your own TPF copyright with the PPP...
Lkb, you are a genius! Or evil...

And - I'm taking you to task here :hugs: - never feel guilty about something you love. I don't look at the cost, I never say 'OHMYGOSH I just paid so much for this piece of silk!', because it's not 'just a piece of silk'* - it is Art, it is Beauty, it is a silken barrier between you and our sometimes unfriendly world, a beautiful touchstone. I rarely wear necklaces because I wear a scarf - it *is* my jewelry (and frankly one heck of a lot less than jewelry) and I never feel guilty about them.
If someone is foolish enough to ask how many I have, I just look at them and say "A lot." In a tone that implies "none of your business" and they don't ask again.

*on the other hand - it is just a piece of silk - so wear them with love!

Oof - I hope your 2023 is absolutely fantastic - you deserve it, and I love your Objectives!
and - uhh - I LOL-ed at your Robe Legere addiction! :roflmfao:

Oh my gosh - these are stunning together!

Honey - you're beautiful!! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!
You're glowing in your Amazones - what a great cw! I agree that the orange MP (stunning design) needs a different color top - already mentioned is Turquoise (fabulous idea!) and Pink (I love pink and orange, well pink especially), but also gray. I find that I wear my orange scarves often with a gray sweater. I've also worn orange with orange (recently wore Sous Le Charme d'Orphee on the orange side with a darker orange sweater), oooh and with a warm tan color top!

But I'm serious when I say that you look lovely. Keep sharing your photos with us! :hugs:

Cutie patootie!

These are both gorgeous - but yowza - that dark red with the dark gray is a fantastic look!

Another fabulous thoughtful post - thank you!
And - yay - I'm glad your brown JdH is staying! That orange hem is so marvelous!
(mine is staying too.... even though I didn't wear it once last year!!)
Dearest cookie, this is such a refreshing post and I am taking all your advice and wisdom to heart even if not directed at me. Thank you:)
