How do you guys feel about head scarves on women with short hair? I have a very short pixie with a side part and shorter bangs. Would a scarf tied like this look stupid? I want to wear my scarves in warmer weather and not just on my purse...thinking with a tee and denim shorts, jeans or a long skirt, ballerinas or sandals. My bangs could peek out or not, but that is all the hair you would see from the front.
I am a big fan of scarves in hair! Twilly, gav, maxi twilly, 90 w the tails down low on one side hanging over A shoulder. I love those all. But I struggle with the hair wrap with the twist because I feel like it’s too much fabric bulge on me above my head :-/. But that’s just me! I hope you do it and can show us on here. There are Instagram profiles I follow called @thechicchanteuse who has her own signature hair wrap and @agirlapurseandascarf that also does some hair wraps if you want to check out for inspiration on how they rock the looks!

I have had similar wistfulness (looking at my scarf drawer full of "comfort zone" scarves). Then I remind myself that every purchase had some aspect about it that was novel or boundary-pushing for my taste at that time. It's all part of the journey! Even if you missed some past beauties, there are always more coming. BTW, your IP is gorgeous.
That is so kind and a very useful perspective. Being on this thread has the effect of keeping me in a state of near constant wistfulness/lust for all the beauties past, but I have been pretty good about only buying what I love and if there is nothing in a current season, I just stalk opportunities to add beauties I've seen here. Also learning so much from all you lovely fellow travelers...

I came up with this knot a couple of years ago and when I posted a picture of Kawa Ora on Instagram using this knot, a sweet IG friend called it The Octopus Knot. It is really quite easy to make and can turn out different every time, depending on the texture and softness of the scarf and also depending on whether you choose to execute the last step or not.
I will post pictures of the process below this post. But, first, a few examples of the Octopus Knot that will hopefully display Many different ways that this knot can turn out.

The first is with Kawa Ora

These are the steps to make the Octopus Knot of my previous post.

First of all, you fold the scarf in half lengthwise to make a rectangle and place over your shoulders with all the points facing down and in front of you.

You will need a chain d’ancre scarf ring or buckle.

First step, you insert the two ends closest to your neck each through the openings of the scarf ring like so...

You then take the end to your right and insert through the scarf ring opening on the right pointing upwards

You do the same with the left side

Pull these two corners you have inserted up and out. At this point, you can stop and fluff the sides and adjust the points and be done with the knot

Or, you can also continue with these steps...
You can take the long points that you first inserted downwards through the scarf ring and insert through the openings of the scarf ring going upwards, like this...

Thank you so much Fifi for showing us how to create this knot! So pretty! Can't wait to try it out this weekend

Like @Cookiefiend and @Langsam I get some nerves going when trying new knots! Knowing I don’t allow myself sufficient time in the mornings to make first attempts, I spent last night practicing the Ondulation with the MaiTai video @Yoon daily scarf posted. This morning I was able to get something passable on the first try and vow to keep practicing!

Fleurs d’ecosse (which I once referred to as the picnic blanket scarf until someone explained all the elements included in the design, which gave me a deep appreciation for it). And now I’m appreciating the hem even more

A wonderful pairing of scarf and jumper, you’ve really made the hem stand out!

Love these- especially with the tweed jacket :hbeat:

Thanks toots ;)

More fantastic tweed - that gav is perfect! :faint:
(glad sweet princess Coco has an assortment of toys to keep her happy)

This scarf body shade just looooves your skin! (maybe the shine from the jacquard assists? I’m not sure, but you glow) :beach:

-Thank You for such helpful video links! MaiTai’s method is simpler than another version I previously found
-I like the Friendship Knot tied in the looser way you’ve done (who knew it would work with a 70 :wtf:)
-Pink is a very flattering scarf color on you
-Pearls draped over scarf tails is charming!

Thanks! Can’t wait to see what knots you wear it with (I’m taking notes) :giggle:

You’re always schooling me; another cw I’ve yet to see. Totally surprised when I scrolled to flat lay pic and saw that blue border! :panic:

Yes! A 90 may be too much silk; I’d stick to 70, gav or twillies. Rock it :rochard:

That Offrandes is sooo pretty!
Congrats on your new Paddock- I have total purple envy

I’m a huge fan of the regular cowboy & just draping ends. Also love the way you highlighted the Rodeo charm :happydance:

Waterfall cowboy with that lippie...
Thanks for you lovely compliment TNS :-)

Snausages, I love your CW ... and nicely tied!

My dear twin! I love these colors
I think it's the best combo, my dear friend?

This is one of my favorite scarves of all time. I have the blue and white but have always longed for the black and ivory CWs. I would, had I actually been more devotee than dilettante at the time, have bought all of these besides my beloved blue.View attachment 5002441
Très chic, LKBNOLA!

Thank you, turf!

Dear @Croisette7 absolute command of wearing mostly white scarves (which I’ve previously avoided) and the gold detailed classics (which I’m feeling nostalgic about) influenced me to add my first L’Instruction du Roy (I know- it’s about dang time!) w/both elements (plus it’s jacquard)...
 ideal or overkill?

I feel out of my depth here... how do I optimally style it?! (It’s actually off white IRL so my white button-down is a mismatch)

Here’s my SOTD fan-girl snail knot with softly metallic silver top

Alt tried the more open asymmetric tie paired with black & even more neutral lip (which I think looks better?)

Open to suggestions dear scarfies :confused1:
It is truly a treasure, turf ... I would wear it with black or grey and both knots are ok.

LOL! I often have days like this! I am your twin on that marvelous L’Ivresse and always forget to reach for it... Great knots! And, that mousseline is breathtaking

I think you did a stellar job here! So great to lay out all the tings you used

Fabulous and love your smile and your lipstick

My Appaloosa, too... Looks fabulous

Truly a spectacular design and so lovely in both of these two very different Cws... Each a totally different vibe

Love all three, but especially the Tigre Royale Fleuri... What a wonderful knot for it!

Amazing how the knot works for these formats! Gotta try it!

Such a delicate beauty!

Love how the knot came out... This is such an amazing jacquard

What a wonderful parade of silks, all masterfully tied! Must try the Friendship Knot... Very useful and neat!

Aaaah, yet another gorgeous CW!

What a gorgeous Groenland!

Congrats on your new job, and these are both fabulous!

What a beautiful and elegant Grand Tenue! And the necklace is outstanding!

Oh all so beautiful! Love all the silks and fantastic knots!

You look amazing... What a fabulous Cw!

So fabulous Bunny! i also like to tie my shawls cowboy style with waterfall sides like you... Such a classic and elegant shawl

Rocking the Bias Fold again! Such amazing silks!

Beautiful!

I love this design and this is is gorgeous CW... Great knot for it

What a beauty it is!

Great show of whites! I just adore white jacquards
Thank you, fifi!

I had high hopes this morning, and marched to the mirror with my Mors ring in hand... about half way through I got lost.
I got this far and then fizzled.
View attachment 5000783
Then went back to the closet for another ring, determined to master the fancy ruffle knot...
View attachment 5000782
I sorta got it, but felt it was just too tight, and I didn’t like the color, the scarf was just all wrong, I hate my hair, why do I have dog hair everywhere, what time is it, ohmigosh I’m late, where are my keys, where’s my PHONE, oh it’s in my hand.

I ended up wearing a favorite moussie Della Cavalleria in @Bova123’s BFK
View attachment 5000784
:roflmfao: Omigosh, that’s me. Rush, rush, forgot this, where’s that... and on it goes. You look fab in all three, knots beautiful, that pink scarf is gorgeous but I must say that moussie is TDF :faint: .

Congratulations, dear Turfnsurf, it’s gorgeous and is very classy. I love it with both tops. I think charcoal or dark grey would be devastating with it. It looks more cream than white; a cream blouse or sweater would work, too. Such a beautiful jacquard.
