This is one of my favorite scarves of all time. I have the blue and white but have always longed for the black and ivory CWs. I would, had I actually been more devotee than dilettante at the time, have bought all of these besides my beloved blue.View attachment 5002441
That cw is so elegant, LKBNOLA. Seeing @Pampelmuse’s and your IPs, the conclusion is that this is a design that is stunning in every cw. Your cw must look fab with a white cotton or silk shirt. Yummy.

I came up with this knot a couple of years ago and when I posted a picture of Kawa Ora on Instagram using this knot, a sweet IG friend called it The Octopus Knot. It is really quite easy to make and can turn out different every time, depending on the texture and softness of the scarf and also depending on whether you choose to execute the last step or not.
I will post pictures of the process below this post. But, first, a few examples of the Octopus Knot that will hopefully display Many different ways that this knot can turn out.

The first is with Kawa Ora

Fifi, you are a grand knot maker! You wear these effortlessly and so elegantly! I’m kinda gobsmacked with your Plumes en Fete and your monochromatic JLR is stunning. We are twins with the rainbow JLR and Animapolis, and I can’t wait to try this knot with mine. Congratulations on your new Tous Les Bateaux du Monde - it’s stunning.

Yesterday’s scarf with different jumper and different knot, looks like a different scarf! Quite by accident I got Francois Peron displayed quite nicely.

Le Geographe, an intricate silk jacquard of kangaroos and anchors, was designed by Sandra Laroche, who created three additional carres for the Maison Hermes: Au Clair de la Lune, Fleurs d’Hiver and Per Astra Ad Astra being her most recent and perhaps also best known creation.

It looks like different scarf in this picture! The pattern of the jacquard is really gorgeous. It's so beautiful!!

All so lovely! Friendship knot is a good one for taming large amounts of silk and/or hiding aspects of the scarf you don’t like, don’t you think?

I agree with you! This knot is useful in many ways, dear @paula24jen

Thank you so much, you are so kind! :hugs:

Thank you! ❤

Beautiful!

What a beautiful tie with your pearls! :faint:
Ive never tried the Friendship knot, and would knot have thought it possible with a 70! :panic:

Im always looking for ideas for the 70s and the Maxi Twilly, I appreciate seein these in the other formats too!

Thanks a lot, dear @Cookiefiend!! Actually, I like the shorter tail than the longer one, so I prefer the friendship knot with Carre 70!

Thank you turfnsurf, my favorite combo!

Oh I'll have to try this second knot today! Thanks for the inspiration!

Thank you kindly dear croisette!

What a wonderful scarf, that jacquard detail is amazing!!

Yay, such wonderful knots Yoon! Inspirational indeed!

Thanks a lot, dear @Bova123 !! :heart::loveeyes:

All beautiful. and I love that blue lacy blouse!!!

Thank you so much, dear @momasaurus ! It's one of my favorite blouses ;)

Heading out of town for a few days. Into the Canadian Wild in a nice neat Infinity knot for a five hour car ride. Thanks to @bunnycat and @Yoon daily scarf for the inspiration and how to. So many beautiful scarves and knots! I am going to practice Onduation and Edot with a new scarf when I get where I am going. Excited to try new (to me) knots.
View attachment 5001604

We're twins on this ITCW!! Your infinity knot is gorgeous, I love it. I think this comfortable is good for the long drive too!

I agree, momasaurus! This is my third cw.

Beautiful Index palmarum!! I love this CW too

Ahhh I love this CW, it looks elegant on you, dear @Croisette7!! I admire your collections

Hi all! I’ve been out of touch the past few weeks as I’ve started a new job, but still have been enjoying the thread! I wanted to show off my latest two scarves in my favorite knots. One is the offrandes with the draped knot from scarf look book. The other is a little knot I just do with one of my scarf rings, with my new paddock. View attachment 5001722View attachment 5001723

Oh I love your Offrandes!! It's so serene and delicate, you arranged it so beautifully. And your second knot looks gorgeous! :hbeat:

SOTD is a new-to-me Grande Tenue in an asymmetric knot. Pearls are golden and white South Seas in a variety of shades and shapes.

View attachment 5001753

The color combination of your SOTD is so great! And you always choose perfect necklaces for your scarves. I love it

Thank you yoon! The "BunnyBova" is a very casual knot! Easygoing.

oh my! Look at that jacquard!!!

beautiful Yoon! You ExLib Atlantis is so pretty!

Perfect LKBNOLA!

Gorgeous as a "scarfnecklace" Pampelmuse!

Oh I love that name 'BunnyBova'!! :hbeat: Thanks a lot for inspirations ♡

Thank you everyone for sharing your beautiful knots this week. And especially to @Yoon daily scarf for your inspirational posts!

Here are some of my favourites and also attempting the snail knot. I love how it displays the corner of the scarf. I have struggled to find a knot that shows Kluska in this design in a good way.

This knot was a favourite a couple of years ago. Here I use a classic scarf ring from MaiTai in Mother of Pearl because I find the metal ones a bit too have for this knot.

And especially for @laurenad, here I tried to fold it to have the rodeo showing. A modified bias fold and then just tying it around my neck.

But my favourite "knot" is probably the simple triangle around my neck:

Wow I love them all! All of your knots are so stunning, dear @Naessi  Your ribbon knot is so beautiful, and I love your newly discovered knot too! And the Rodeo ring of your scarf is so pretty  Thanks for sharing!

What a gorgeous week this is. Beautiful everyone!

My SOTD, Manufacture de Boucleries. Triangle fold and a little pochette scarf ring at the back.

This CW is so gorgeous, it goes so well with you, dear @Pirula !

A couple more for this week.

Just a simple loose "weave" knot on my giant bias folded Tout en Quilt cotton scarf then tied the ends.

View attachment 5001929

And while it was 82F yesterday, today it is 55 and cloudy so back to my trusty cashmere. Usually I just throw these on however, but for this week I took a little more care. I have folded it in to what turned in to what I'm now calling "Waterfall Cowboy". It ought to work on any larger size scarf no matter the fabric content.

These are the steps to make the Octopus Knot of my previous post.

First of all, you fold the scarf in half lengthwise to make a rectangle and place over your shoulders with all the points facing down and in front of you.

You will need a chain d’ancre scarf ring or buckle.

First step, you insert the two ends closest to your neck each through the openings of the scarf ring like so...
View attachment 5002512

You then take the end to your right and insert through the scarf ring opening on the right pointing upwards
View attachment 5002513
View attachment 5002514

You do the same with the left side
View attachment 5002515
View attachment 5002516

Pull these two corners you have inserted up and out. At this point, you can stop and fluff the sides and adjust the points and be done with the knot
View attachment 5002517

Or, you can also continue with these steps...
You can take the long points that you first inserted downwards through the scarf ring and insert through the openings of the scarf ring going upwards, like this...
View attachment 5002518
View attachment 5002519
View attachment 5002520

And do the same with the other side
View attachment 5002523
View attachment 5002521

and, voila!

Fluff and arrange. You may reference my previous post that showed a few Octopus Knot examples. Some stopped at the 6th picture and some were made by continuing on

A trio of my trusty Bias Fold, knotted at the ends - thank you @Redbirdhermes for your kind words!
View attachment 5001937
Today though, I’m wearing the short and sweet version - with a gav.
View attachment 5001936
Today I’m being photo bombed by what’s left of one of Coco’s new toys... she loved it! :giggle:

I love your bias fold knots! I'll definitely try this one  And you matched your navy gavroche with your tweed jacket so perfectly! Actually, I've been try to match my scarves with my tweed jackets, but it wasn't easy for me. Your gorgeous mod shot inspired me a lot  It's so cool how you pulled your blue blouse collar out of your jacket. I think It blends the colors of your jacket and gavroche. Love it!!

SOTD Cristaux Wash - half bow knot again with a dinky "bow". Sorry for lack of knot variety - it's been a week. At least HBK is a break from my usual.

View attachment 5001971

I love your Cristaux wash, and your T-shirt and cardigan goes so well with your scarf! Your HBK is so beautiful :hbeat:

Beautiful headscarf, and beautiful sunshine!! Love this picture, It seems like spring. Thanks for sharing !

Like @Cookiefiend and @Langsam I get some nerves going when trying new knots! Knowing I don’t allow myself sufficient time in the mornings to make first attempts, I spent last night practicing the Ondulation with the MaiTai video @Yoon daily scarf posted. This morning I was able to get something passable on the first try and vow to keep practicing!

Fleurs d’ecosse (which I once referred to as the picnic blanket scarf until someone explained all the elements included in the design, which gave me a deep appreciation for it). And now I’m appreciating the hem even more
View attachment 5002301

Oh I love your arrangement ! With this new style, the borders of your beautiful scarf are more dramatic and vibrant. I'll try this one too!! Thanks a lot for sharing, dear @Snausages :hbeat:

This is one of my favorite scarves of all time. I have the blue and white but have always longed for the black and ivory CWs. I would, had I actually been more devotee than dilettante at the time, have bought all of these besides my beloved blue.View attachment 5002441

Gorgeous knot and scarf, dear @LKBNOLA !!
This dark navy CW is so stunning and chic

Love these- especially with the tweed jacket :hbeat:

Thanks toots ;)

More fantastic tweed - that gav is perfect! :faint:
(glad sweet princess Coco has an assortment of toys to keep her happy)

This scarf body shade just looooves your skin! (maybe the shine from the jacquard assists? I’m not sure, but you glow) :beach:

-Thank You for such helpful video links! MaiTai’s method is simpler than another version I previously found
-I like the Friendship Knot tied in the looser way you’ve done (who knew it would work with a 70 :wtf:)
-Pink is a very flattering scarf color on you
-Pearls draped over scarf tails is charming!

Thanks! Can’t wait to see what knots you wear it with (I’m taking notes) :giggle:

You’re always schooling me; another cw I’ve yet to see. Totally surprised when I scrolled to flat lay pic and saw that blue border! :panic:

Yes! A 90 may be too much silk; I’d stick to 70, gav or twillies. Rock it :rochard:

That Offrandes is sooo pretty!
Congrats on your new Paddock- I have total purple envy

I’m a huge fan of the regular cowboy & just draping ends. Also love the way you highlighted the Rodeo charm :happydance:

Waterfall cowboy with that lippie...

Thanks a lot for your sweet comments, dear @turfnsurf :hbeat: I like Maitai's tutorials too, they're so clear to follow! ♡ And I like the loose Friendship knot than tight one, because I prefer shorter tails. And I recommend the friendship knot with Carrè 70 to you! It's more comfortable and cheerful

Marvelous silks all! My fav is Kawa Ora and am glad to be your twin, but must say that the Wild Singapore is breathtaking

What a wonderful CW and this is such a great knot to show certain parts of the design

The CW I should’ve gotten... Fabulous

Such a beauty!

I adore this Sarasa... Ties so beautifully! Love it with the Fifi Knot (yes, that was the original name for this knot... LOL!)

Both awesome! Love the blue Sweet Dreams

Love this design so much! It ties like a dream... I own the black bit had never seen your blue... Stunning!

Love your Edots! All silks are spectacular.. and, we are actually triplets on that sublime Samourais... Thank you for attaching Mai Tai’s video... Her app is such a great tool... This is an amazing knot which I will definitely try

Looks marvelous! Such a beautiful Maharani!

Thank you so much! The earrings are the Dior Tribales

Fabulosity right here! And, you did such an awesome job on the knot!

What a gorgeous Kuna! Had never seen this fabulous CW

So it was you who got it! Couldn’t be more beautiful and love it on you! Maybe some day!

This was the CW I originally wanted as well... It is exquisite! I am very happy with mine, but boy is this gorgeous!

Love this classic beauty and the painterly quality of the illustration

Great scarf and he is sooo adorable!

Thank you so much, dearest @Living.la.vida.fifi
Wow I 'm so glad we're triplets on Samourais!!! I love your knots with Samourais, It's a pleasure to see your beautiful arrangements complete this scarf's beauty.
I'll try your Edot knot style, the drapes are so beautiful. And I'm looking forward to see your Ondulation knot too!! :hugs:

Dear @Croisette7 absolute command of wearing mostly white scarves (which I’ve previously avoided) and the gold detailed classics (which I’m feeling nostalgic about) influenced me to add my first L’Instruction du Roy (I know- it’s about dang time!) w/both elements (plus it’s jacquard)...
 ideal or overkill?

I feel out of my depth here... how do I optimally style it?! (It’s actually off white IRL so my white button-down is a mismatch)

Here’s my SOTD fan-girl snail knot with softly metallic silver top
View attachment 5002449
Alt tried the more open asymmetric tie paired with black & even more neutral lip (which I think looks better?)
View attachment 5002451
Open to suggestions dear scarfies :confused1:

Wow I love your knots and coordinations!! I especially like the silvery top, it's color and texture goes so well with your L’Instruction du Roy's rough grey patterns  Andyour neutral lip color is so gorgeous

LOL! I often have days like this! I am your twin on that marvelous L’Ivresse and always forget to reach for it... Great knots! And, that mousseline is breathtaking

I think you did a stellar job here! So great to lay out all the tings you used

Fabulous and love your smile and your lipstick

My Appaloosa, too... Looks fabulous

Truly a spectacular design and so lovely in both of these two very different Cws... Each a totally different vibe

Love all three, but especially the Tigre Royale Fleuri... What a wonderful knot for it!

Amazing how the knot works for these formats! Gotta try it!

Such a delicate beauty!

Love how the knot came out... This is such an amazing jacquard

What a wonderful parade of silks, all masterfully tied! Must try the Friendship Knot... Very useful and neat!

Aaaah, yet another gorgeous CW!

What a gorgeous Groenland!

Congrats on your new job, and these are both fabulous!

What a beautiful and elegant Grand Tenue! And the necklace is outstanding!

Oh all so beautiful! Love all the silks and fantastic knots!

You look amazing... What a fabulous Cw!

So fabulous Bunny! i also like to tie my shawls cowboy style with waterfall sides like you... Such a classic and elegant shawl

Rocking the Bias Fold again! Such amazing silks!

Beautiful!

I love this design and this is is gorgeous CW... Great knot for it

What a beauty it is!

Great show of whites! I just adore white jacquards

I appreciate it, dear @Living.la.vida.fifi  I love this useful knot, glad you like it too! Can't wait to see your friendship knot too

These are the steps to make the Octopus Knot of my previous post.

First of all, you fold the scarf in half lengthwise to make a rectangle and place over your shoulders with all the points facing down and in front of you.

You will need a chain d’ancre scarf ring or buckle.

First step, you insert the two ends closest to your neck each through the openings of the scarf ring like so...

You then take the end to your right and insert through the scarf ring opening on the right pointing upwards

You do the same with the left side

Pull these two corners you have inserted up and out. At this point, you can stop and fluff the sides and adjust the points and be done with the knot

Or, you can also continue with these steps...
You can take the long points that you first inserted downwards through the scarf ring and insert through the openings of the scarf ring going upwards, like this...

Fluff and arrange. You may reference my previous post that showed a few Octopus Knot examples. Some stopped at the 6th picture and some were made by continuing on

Breathtaking!!!! Thank you very much for your marvelous mod shots and excellent tutorial, dear @Living.la.vida.fifi  Every knots you posted is so exceptional. I especially love the Bride de gala shadow and Plumes en fete! I was always curious about this knot, so I'm so delightful to learn this knot. I'll try this one and show you :hugs:

Love this gorgeous black buckle motifs, and the color combination of red, bkack and white!! Beautiful, dear @Croisette7

I’ve always been in awe of people who can carry off the scarf in hair look, decided to give it a go, not sure I’d venture in public like this?
