Like @Cookiefiend and @Langsam I get some nerves going when trying new knots! Knowing I don’t allow myself sufficient time in the mornings to make first attempts, I spent last night practicing the Ondulation with the MaiTai video @Yoon daily scarf posted. This morning I was able to get something passable on the first try and vow to keep practicing!

Fleurs d’ecosse (which I once referred to as the picnic blanket scarf until someone explained all the elements included in the design, which gave me a deep appreciation for it). And now I’m appreciating the hem even more

This is one of my favorite scarves of all time. I have the blue and white but have always longed for the black and ivory CWs. I would, had I actually been more devotee than dilettante at the time, have bought all of these besides my beloved blue.

Yesterday’s scarf with different jumper and different knot, looks like a different scarf! Quite by accident I got Francois Peron displayed quite nicely.

Le Geographe, an intricate silk jacquard of kangaroos and anchors, was designed by Sandra Laroche, who created three additional carres for the Maison Hermes: Au Clair de la Lune, Fleurs d’Hiver and Per Astra Ad Astra being her most recent and perhaps also best known creation.

-I like the Friendship Knot tied in the looser way you’ve done (who knew it would work with a 70 )

You’re always schooling me; another cw I’ve yet to see. Totally surprised when I scrolled to flat lay pic and saw that blue border!

How do you guys feel about head scarves on women with short hair? I have a very short pixie with a side part and shorter bangs. Would a scarf tied like this look stupid? I want to wear my scarves in warmer weather and not just on my purse...thinking with a tee and denim shorts, jeans or a long skirt, ballerinas or sandals. My bangs could peek out or not, but that is all the hair you would see from the front.

@laurenad, here I tried to fold it to have the rodeo showing. A modified bias fold and then just tying it around my neck.

Another newly discovered knot:

But my favourite "knot" is probably the simple triangle around my neck:

I’m a huge fan of the regular cowboy & just draping ends. Also love the way you highlighted the Rodeo charm

Just a simple loose "weave" knot on my giant bias folded Tout en Quilt cotton scarf then tied the ends.

And while it was 82F yesterday, today it is 55 and cloudy so back to my trusty cashmere. Usually I just throw these on however, but for this week I took a little more care. I have folded it in to what turned in to what I'm now calling "Waterfall Cowboy". It ought to work on any larger size scarf no matter the fabric content.

I watched the video and played around with the snail’s knot. I had success with the knot but picked the wrong design (Kara Ora) and it was too busy under my neck! ....I dropped it down to a simple knot.

More Half Bow Knot fun, with Animapolis. I've noticed this knot can highlight center and just-off-center elements of the design, especially if you begin the knot by draping your bias fold so one end hangs longer than the other. That tilts the design so you get more center elements at the neckline and in the half bow. I'm pleased to discover that this way highlights the gorgeous green leopard.

Well I had a busy day but managed to snag a little time to try some knots: snail, double knot, half bow (just with bias fold) and with ends pulled up and through scarf ring. Sorry for my blurry selfies (this Art du Sarasa is prettier than my pictures give it credit for!) This is so fun but challenging and requires some strategy as well as practice.

Then I tried @Yoon daily scarf 's "snail knot for dummies" with my lucky New Orleans Saints scarf (black and gold!) and that was an easy, pretty and practical knot! I would love to try it with a mors ring, too.

This was the CW I originally wanted as well... It is exquisite! I am very happy with mine, but boy is this gorgeous!

I have fallen terribly behind (and on such a wonderful week, too!), but for good reasons--several rounds of interviews for a new job. I waded into the shallows of ban island to pick up an international scarf purchase that finally arrived (purchased around New Year's!), Les Amazones by Dumas. No time for fancy knots today, so an old standby, set slightly off center using a MaiTai Zero gravity ring.

It has one of those tiny folded care tags, so it must be original issue. Does anyone know whether that was 1968 or 1976? Trusted internet sources give two different dates.

ideal or overkill?

I feel out of my depth here... how do I optimally style it?! (It’s actually off white IRL so my white button-down is a mismatch)

Here’s my SOTD fan-girl snail knot with softly metallic silver top

Alt tried the more open asymmetric tie paired with black & even more neutral lip (which I think looks better?)

I could see this working really well flat-folded (probably rectangular rather than bias) and crossed and then tucked into a v-neck sweater/jumper/cardigan. Once the weather warms up, it could also look nice just bias folded and draped over your shoulders with a tan/khaki linen? I guess I always peg jacquards as more winter-y, but I'm intrigued by the effect of the pattern shimmering in the summer sun...

First 2 attempts at the edot knot. I got my left and right, top and bottom confused, watched the video a 2nd time, and ended up with a mirror image Definitely need more practice with this one.

Love all three, but especially the Tigre Royale Fleuri... What a wonderful knot for it!

Trying the snail knot on a 140 and geant triangle. Too much fabric to really look like a nautilus but still a nice way to tame such a lot of silk. Win-win!! Les Chemins Secrets and Kachinas.

SOTD is a new-to-me Grande Tenue in an asymmetric knot. Pearls are golden and white South Seas in a variety of shades and shapes.

Here are some of my favourites and also attempting the snail knot. I love how it displays the corner of the scarf. I have struggled to find a knot that shows Kluska in this design in a good way.


This knot was a favourite a couple of years ago. Here I use a classic scarf ring from MaiTai in Mother of Pearl because I find the metal ones a bit too have for this knot.

And especially for @laurenad, here I tried to fold it to have the rodeo showing. A modified bias fold and then just tying it around my neck.

Dear @Croisette7 absolute command of wearing mostly white scarves (which I’ve previously avoided) and the gold detailed classics (which I’m feeling nostalgic about) influenced me to add my first L’Instruction du Roy (I know- it’s about dang time!) w/both elements (plus it’s jacquard)...
ideal or overkill?

I feel out of my depth here... how do I optimally style it?! (It’s actually off white IRL so my white button-down is a mismatch)

With a creme silk blouse? Tucked into a silvery gray v-neck? With a soft mustard cashmere sweater? I recall our dear @Cookiefiend rocking a Daimyo in a similar color way to your new scarf, with a mid-toned denim chambray blouse.

This is one of my favorite scarves of all time. I have the blue and white but have always longed for the black and ivory CWs. I would, had I actually been more devotee than dilettante at the time, have bought all of these besides my beloved blue.View attachment 5002441

I have had similar wistfulness (looking at my scarf drawer full of "comfort zone" scarves). Then I remind myself that every purchase had some aspect about it that was novel or boundary-pushing for my taste at that time. It's all part of the journey! Even if you missed some past beauties, there are always more coming. BTW, your IP is gorgeous.

Like @Cookiefiend and @Langsam I get some nerves going when trying new knots! Knowing I don’t allow myself sufficient time in the mornings to make first attempts, I spent last night practicing the Ondulation with the MaiTai video @Yoon daily scarf posted. This morning I was able to get something passable on the first try and vow to keep practicing!

Fleurs d’ecosse (which I once referred to as the picnic blanket scarf until someone explained all the elements included in the design, which gave me a deep appreciation for it). And now I’m appreciating the hem even more
