My very best wishes to everyone for the New Year to all SOTD regulars, occasional posters and newcomers alike  .

The SOTD 2021 thread is now open and ready for business:

The new theme commences tomorrow (3 Jan - whenever your time zone gets there) but there's no reason why you can't post earlier if you want.

I empathize with your need to make room for any future additions... my silk storage system limit has runneth over. :panic:
Your nominees are amazing, amazing, amazing- I was going to call out my favs, but you’re right; they’re all winners!

These suit you beautifully. Your ItCW was made for you.

:yahoo: Bravo Paruers!!:yahoo:...stunning.
Can’t wait to see your other winners (runners up are beauties, too)

What an excellent start you’ve gotten! It’s great that you’ve already honed into detail preferences that work for you. CS s.e. is a treasure.

Fifi, you always find the yummiest cw’s... Of course I love your bolds, but am smitten by that pink UTW (and it looks fab’ on you)
As you can see, I favor my bolds, but must admit that the pinks and corals on the deep blue background of the UTW are gorgeous... Thank you so much!

Merry Christmas everyone, I hope all your Christmas wishes came true - I can see @bunnycat’s did!
While today is Boxing Day, ‘round here we’re taking it easy - I’m wearing my super soft Carre en Carre dip-dye.

But because it’s still Holiday/Festive Scarf week - there’s a holiday we haven’t discussed yet: New Years Eve! Goodbye 2020! While I won’t be attending any NYE parties, if I were, I’d wear my Onde de Chic!

Commenting on this out of order, bear with me

Both your jewelry and scarf collection is to die for!

I will that Mr Bcat should be giving us all lessons instead )

So festive — beautiful

Love this

Nice scarf, and I love the pearls

I missed out on that, too. I was collecting at the time, but never cared for the design. Of course, now I really want one...

Are you talking the red 90 or the GCSM? The 90 didn’t work out for me at all. The GSCM is soooo nice...

Nice last-minute additions — I have been contemplating that Perspectives as well

Beautiful scarves — you are so thoughtful about them!

All of these are so beautiful, I have been staring at them for over 10 minutes now...
Anna, thank you so much for your lovely comments... And, looking back on Into the Canadian Wild... yes, I remember seeing so many CWs at the store and passing to be crazy hunting for it after a couple of years... Proof of our evolving tastes!

A few more festive silks before the new week begins......

Every Christmas I play the piano at my mom’s living facility and was able to do it again this year with some creative covid precautions.
I wore the green Fouets et Badines scarf braided around my neck. I had to make sure it was tied high and tight as not to interfere with my piano fingers!

Today I simply hung around home and played in my scarf drawers!

Earlier in the week I wore my Into the Canadian Wild with the fish looking up fondly at the sweet little owl.

Magjes, playing piano for your mom's facility is the embodiment of the Christmas spirit. How lucky they are! And your canadian wild is perfect, especially with that beautiful white sweater!

One of my treasured silks which I love to wear during the Christmas holidays is my La Comédie Italienne. I own this beauty in two CWs, both perfect for this time of year

I think that my Etude pour une Parure de Gala is winter white perfection, and one I’ve worn to seasonal concerts

Green Fouets et Badines is a Christmas favorite of mine

And, I always wear my festive Turqueries to celebrate the feast of the Epiphany... Its exotic parade reminds me of The Magi

Dear yoon ds, so glad you are joining our circle of scarfies. I love samourais! And you have tied them so beautifully! Looking forward to seeing you here!

27 Dec 2020 The Oscarf: Best 90, Best CSGM and other Oscarf-worthy categories (copyright Cookiefiend!)

Happy last Sunday of 2020, my dear scarfie friends! It seems as if it was yesterday that we began our yearly silk adventures here on SOTD, and here we are wrapping up the year... And, what a journey it’s been! We are all, no doubt, ready to say goodbye to a most challenging year and poised to welcome a new one full of hope and possibilities.

I think that we all agree that 2020 was a year that will live in infamy, except where our silks are concerned, for we have witnessed a marvelous array of scarves here every single week. At moments where we have been sad, anxious and troubled by world events, our little SOTD corner of the world has been a spot of beauty, comfort and joy.

And, now, we get ready take stock of all of the wonderful scarves that have entered our collection this year and to, once again, hold our very own Oscarf Awards ceremony! For, where Hollywood has the Oscar, Scarflandia has the Oscarf, courtesy of our dear Cookie.

This was a very interesting year for me as I purchased my first mousseline scarves and fell in love with this format, adding a total of five to my collection. So, I will begin by giving my Mousseline of the Year award to my very first moussie and the one that remains my favorite: Offrandes d’un Jour
View attachment 4938899

I also obtained my first Giant Triangle this year, so the First GT Oscarf goes to Kachinas.

But, where I went seriously bonkers this year was with CSGMs, adding a grand total of fifteen to my stash. As I live in a tropical climate, I can safely say that I’m pretty much done and satisfied with my shawl collection. I obtained so many treasures that it’s hard to pick a favorite, therefore I will present my Best Five CSGMs during the course of the week, beginning with La Femme aux Semelles de Vent.
View attachment 4938900

And, the Best Giant Silk of 2020 award goes to Carnaval des Oiseaux
View attachment 4938902

As every year, I purchased scarves from Hermès’ new collections. The Oscarf for Best Scarf of the Spring/Summer 2020 collection goes to the fabulous C’est la Fête, which I was lucky to find in two CWs.

View attachment 4938903

And, the winner of Best Scarf of the Fall/Winter 2020 collection is La Legende de la Foret.
View attachment 4938905

As every year, a variety of silks from past seasons entered my life. Some were long-time Grails for me. But, if I must choose my Grail of the Year, the award must go to Ex Libris en Kimonos in this exquisite CW.

I have been looking forward to this final week on SOTD, as a recount of all of my new scarves has been fun, enlightening and eye-opening. This year has been a momentous one for me, as I acquired a total of sixteen 90s, fifteen CSGMs, five mousselines, three giant silks and one giant triangle. I am looking forward to posting some of them this week. And, I can’t wait to see the parade of treasures that will be shared by all as we wrap up one scarf-loving year and get ready to begin another one full of silk dreams and expectations.
Fifi, what a wonderful intro to what will be a great week. Love your offrandes especially!

Anna, thank you so much for your lovely comments... And, looking back on Into the Canadian Wild... yes, I remember seeing so many CWs at the store and passing to be crazy hunting for it after a couple of years... Proof of our evolving tastes!
Evolving tastes is what makes us yearn for that which we were unsure of originally, or at least that is how it is for me. ITCW is a design I would grab now but it’s so expensive on the resale market. Animapolis, too! ( :graucho: ) And as I have said before, I can’t buy everything nor do I want to (although I certainly added to the collex this year. Blame it on the pandemic.;)

Passing on Appaloosa des Steppes when available at H, I finally found one this year - my framboise/canard cw. Not easy to find, though; this one came from France and not pristine condition. I have washed it but feel a good starching is needed (or whatever that starch-like product is, which I know I can look up; the name is just eluding me right now).
I feel that I do need to reevaluate my collection but good luck to me to have the courage to part with any of it - what if my tastes change back? :panic:
There are some scarves I just don’t get around to wearing. And that makes me feel bad because I certainly don’t buy these at these variously expensive or occasional good-deal prices for them to sit in the drawer!
