My very best wishes to everyone for the New Year to all SOTD regulars, occasional posters and newcomers alike  .

The SOTD 2021 thread is now open and ready for business:

The new theme commences tomorrow (3 Jan - whenever your time zone gets there) but there's no reason why you can't post earlier if you want.

Evolving tastes is what makes us yearn for that which we were unsure of originally, or at least that is how it is for me. ITCW is a design I would grab now but it’s so expensive on the resale market. Animapolis, too! ( :graucho: ) And as I have said before, I can’t buy everything nor do I want to (although I certainly added to the collex this year. Blame it on the pandemic.;)

Passing on Appaloosa des Steppes when available at H, I finally found one this year - my framboise/canard cw. Not easy to find, though; this one came from France and not pristine condition. I have washed it but feel a good starching is needed (or whatever that starch-like product is, which I know I can look up; the name is just eluding me right now).
I feel that I do need to reevaluate my collection but good luck to me to have the courage to part with any of it - what if my tastes change back? :panic:
There are some scarves I just don’t get around to wearing. And that makes me feel bad because I certainly don’t buy these at these variously expensive or occasional good-deal prices for them to sit in the drawer!

Karenska, Appaloosa is a design I look at regularly, but I can't settle on a cw. (Same problem with Canadian wild.) I love this one on you!

These two a glorious, indeed... Love your categories, and I can’t wait to see more this week... And, again, upstaged by a kittie!

Thank you kindly fifi!

I suppose I could call these the joint winners of the Last Hurrah Prize  for a year when retail therapy became more than just a buzz word.

Last scarf mail of 2020: I opened the package a scant 20 mins ago. It's a special ed of Perspective - bought for curiosity value. It was issued for The International Federation for Human Rights and incorporates Jane Birkin's signature in the design.

And my last boutique purchase of 2020: Mega Chariot, picked up yesterday. I think it appealed to me because it hearks back to a much simpler age when I could fangirl Optimus Prime  (now I obsess over Bruce Wayne's mental stability :giggle: ).

ooooh- I love the Mega Chariot! It's a 100 yes?

Favorite 70 of 2020 is J’aime mom carre. I had been hoping to get one for a couple of years, then in January I found this one.
2020 definitely saw me reaching for the 70s often while at home.
this CW has turned out to be more versatile than I expected. I often paired it with a burgundy cardigan.
iView attachment 4940130View attachment 4940139View attachment 4940138

and my favorite 90 was another past season find. I had been wishing for this CW forever and felt lucky to get this one in excellent new condition, because i can never have too many BLUE scarves, LOL!

The are both s lovely! But I love the ombre effect in the LduPC!

Well, my award for Best New Format in a Starring Role goes to The Mousseline...
After drooling over pictures of moussies here on TPF for a long while, I finally waded in and added the first to my collection, and I am thrilled with the format. Moussies work very well in a tropical climate and they are truly sublime. This year, I found five beauties and I know they won’t be the last...
So, once again, here is my very first mousseline and the one that remains my favorite and worthy of the Best Moussie award: Offrandes d’un Jour

And, here is my last moussie purchase of the year and winner of Best Moussie in a Supporting Role: Under the Waves in the black CW

And, I also was lucky to find a long-time moussie Grail: Rayures Mexicaines in this less commonly seen CW. @Joannadyne let me try hers on when she visited and I was convinced I had to have it, and she helped me locate this one... It arrived in time for my birthday

Beautiful choice! So glad you found one. (You want sizing. )

I think we need to include the Horsawards ( or Horscars as I think it was called for a nanosecond upon issue ) for this week's theme, even though I didn't buy it this year. I cannot say enough how much I love the colour of this scarf. Anyway, just popping it on because of the awards connection.

I love this on you, pautinka. I have thought about getting this in pink. Beautiful!

Congratulations, Twin! It’s a gorgeous scarf design and cw. A beautiful gift. I purchased mine in January at Hermès on Broad St NYC (Wall St area). My DH gave me Savana Dance for Christmas last year. It means so much to me. I really adore my 70s. Here are a couple ofView attachment 4939120View attachment 4939118 pics.
And I adore this savana dance! This cw always reminds me of a sunset. Lovely!

Thank you for the wonderful introduction to Oscarf week, Fifi. All of my Hermes scarves were acquired during 2020, so they are all in the running for an Oscarf Award.

I like colorful scarves with interesting designs, and I tend away from horse bit, military, colonial and hunting themes. However, I have been inspired by many of you to look at vintage designs as well as neutral colors, and that leads me to my first Oscarf Award of the week.

Yesterday's scarf mail brought me a scarf from 1948 by Hugo Grygkar, which makes it my oldest scarf, as well as being older than me. Chevaux de Cirque celebrates the horse as a circus performer. I love the large ostrich plumes and I can almost hear how the bells jingle in rhythm as they trot around the ring.

My Most Vintage Award goes to Chevaux de Cirque.

This is one of my favorites that you have posted, rbh! Congrats on this beauty.

This was one of my fave buys of the year: Cosmographia. I resisted long and hard with many H-excuses like "the unicorn/sea serpent is too small". The true reason was because none of the cws suited me. Then I wuz enabled by the inimitable @lanit who showed the San Francisco CW and I :faint:

I think 2020 was the year when I finally accepted that there was no such thing as too many red&blue scarves  (goes with denim  )

Cosmographia, tied here to show Mr Kelpie.

Artist Akira Yamaguchi's masterpiece for Hermes immediately captured my attention this year. At first I thought that I would be satisfied with one colorway, but as more appeared at random times on h.com I found myself hitting buy three more times. I purchased two books of his artwork which helped me to understand this scarf better. And, I use a detail of this scarf as my avatar here on the forum.

Clearly this magnificent scarf by this accomplished artist is deserving of awards least of all mine.

My Favorite Design of the Year goes to Les Artisans D'Hermes.

Yes, 100. I love the men's 100cm scarves. Also, it's by Daiske Nomura, so I cannot resist
A kind SA found this in the storeroom for me. The ones on display were all the less exciting cws like grey&yellow and grey&blue. I told him, "No, no, I know it comes in red&blue." So he checked inventory and then left me giggling over the ties while he went a-hunting.
