My very best wishes to everyone for the New Year to all SOTD regulars, occasional posters and newcomers alike  .

The SOTD 2021 thread is now open and ready for business:

The new theme commences tomorrow (3 Jan - whenever your time zone gets there) but there's no reason why you can't post earlier if you want.

Thank you for the wonderful introduction to Oscarf week, Fifi. All of my Hermes scarves were acquired during 2020, so they are all in the running for an Oscarf Award.

I like colorful scarves with interesting designs, and I tend away from horse bit, military, colonial and hunting themes. However, I have been inspired by many of you to look at vintage designs as well as neutral colors, and that leads me to my first Oscarf Award of the week.

Yesterday's scarf mail brought me a scarf from 1948 by Hugo Grygkar, which makes it my oldest scarf, as well as being older than me. Chevaux de Cirque celebrates the horse as a circus performer. I love the large ostrich plumes and I can almost hear how the bells jingle in rhythm as they trot around the ring.

My Most Vintage Award goes to Chevaux de Cirque.

Thank you BC! I hope you get a Horsawards one day - I think it's a very under-rated scarf. Talking of stellar choices (thank you!), oh my goodness, what wonderful scarves you have just received. Glass beads are so perfect for you and the thought of a leather-trimmed scarf sends my mind into overdrive thinking of how soft it must be. You lucky lady!!!

I hope I can find one! It was the green one you have I liked best. And thank you! Glass beads are definitely a perfect choice!

The award for Most Glittery Scarf In My Collection goes to my 2008 iridescent Ex Libris, worn here on Christmas Day with my matching enamelled Rudolph earrings.

A winter wonderland Croisette!

Thanks - I do like the VdGN design and the CWs I have kept!

Thank you!

Thanks!

Thank you, BC. Greens are still fairly new to me and I love this hunter green especially. Any idea what is the H name?

Thanks, Croisette - I want to show the red berries in the center!

I don't have any clue! I don't think they've done a lot of deep green lately. ???? But it is a fab color!

My first ever post on TPF! Wearing Rainbow Faubourg 140 shawl! I have had it for one month (first purchase from Hermes shop) and I am loving it! Adds colours to my usually otherwise boring outfits.

Welcome and congrats on your first shawl! It's not likely to be your last!

Now the question is what will 2021 bring us silk lovers? My tansu is so full I must edit before buying anything else. Reflecting on this past year I sought out vintage and also Landed some very Special Edition silks too, and I enjoyed contributing to some worthy causes. So here are my “nominees” as they are all winners in my world
Best Shawl- that I wear the most this year ( My bd gift at start of Pandemic)

Really beautiful selections lanit! Congrats on the DunJA! What a find!

I bought 50+ scarves this year, of all sizes. (Does this sound like a beginning of an AA meeting?)

I will be sharing during the week, but my most favorite ought to be the one I got my husband for Christmas — red/navy cashmere and silk one. Because I am allergic to cashmere, he knows I cannot steal it, so it’s true love

“One is too many, a thousand is not enough.”

I don't quite know where to begin this week. I can't say my habits have changed all that much. I think I did tone it down just a little this year in purchasing, but still....not enough of the letting go for me yet.

I'll start with my up and coming favorite new format for me. It is getting dangerously close to overtaking mousselines in terms of the "favorite format" factor. So this is me: :woot: ... and my wallet: :crybaby:

This year a favorite purchase and favorite design are combined in to one "Best All Around Purchase" with Cosmographia CSGM:

And since I did go to a boutique earlier in the year, I'm giving favorite in person boutique purchase to Brides de Gala en Quadri:

Goregous! Just love the details of the horses, and the feathers and the lady rider. And that horse has a such mischevious look to his eyes! I love all the vintage scarves shown here, to me, they have a different artistic feel to them compared to current scarves offered.

I need to catch up on all the wonderful posts over the last few days. (I have seen some lovely pics from so many fly by!)

Here is a quiet but beautiful moussie I picked up this year. Inspired by @Sammy Royal . Ceintures et Liens.

I would say she is in the running for best supporting actress for an understated, sublime performance.View attachment 4939696
Awillow, stunning. That is one of the most beautiful mousselines I have seen, not to disregard any mousselines. It is so elegant and drapes gorgeously. Oh my! :girlsigh:
Oh, and a very witty way to “award” it :giggle:.
