My very best wishes to everyone for the New Year to all SOTD regulars, occasional posters and newcomers alike  .

The SOTD 2021 thread is now open and ready for business:

The new theme commences tomorrow (3 Jan - whenever your time zone gets there) but there's no reason why you can't post earlier if you want.

@Yoon daily scarf - spur of the moment and not quite right - but I like it!

Thanks for welcoming! I've always wanted to participate in this topic, and I'm so excited to being a resident of Scarflandia! ♡

Congratulations, Twin! It’s a gorgeous scarf design and cw. A beautiful gift. I purchased mine in January at Hermès on Broad St NYC (Wall St area). My DH gave me Savana Dance for Christmas last year. It means so much to me. I really adore my 70s. Here are a couple ofView attachment 4939120View attachment 4939118 pics.

I updated my alphabetical spreadsheet, but need to sort by year to tally additions... safe to say 2020 necessitated some scarfie retail therapy.

Thanks for your kind words dear turfnsurf!♡

Yes, I can be very matchy-matchy!

Thanks. It's Christmas!

Thanks!

Thanks. I do like bright colors now and then.

Thank you. I told you guys it would have made a good theme, LOL!

Yes, or Neige detail?
I love the colors too. I bought it so long ago (the mail has been ridiculous) I forgot the border was hunter green. It was a great surprise!

Thanks. Me too! And I am going to memorize that video from @Yoon daily scarf !

I hope tou enjoy the tutorial, dear momasaurus♡

Scarf mail today!! Acte III, in a nice bright colorway. Can’t resist showing her off, even in my bum-around clothes (just my regular clothes at this point). Thanks to FoxyTrini and Karenska for the mod shots, they were so helpful!

You look so gorgeous with this scarf! I especially like your knot of first picture, it looks like a beautiful necklace :)

Great Intro and what a fun week ahead! Your 2020 additions are fabulous and the Carnaval des Oiseaux is impressive! The colors are spectacular. I too acquired my very first mousselines this year but am still undecided on how I feel about this format. I’ve not mastered the art of making them look effortless. CSGMs are my true love and glad to have you aboard that scarf train! I do believe we are ELK twins. Beautiful colorway!

Twins on all four! You have tied them beautifully! I really love this last colorway with the green sweater.

Thank you so much Croisette!

:hugs:Thank you Moma!

OMG we're scarf twins on all four ! I'm so glad about that♡ The last CW is my favorite among
my PdS scarves - Love those soft pastel colors!

Wow you looks so gorgeous in red! Love love love the dignified tiger ♡♡♡
Thank you so kindly, dear Yoon! I like red very much. I have actually named this tigre, whom I have deemed a female, ‘Binta’. This year in April, I think, we had a theme based on the Hermès Le Robinson Chic scarf, which looks like this (not mine; internet photo; I don’t own this scarf, but it is fun, isn’t it?).
E806B38A-1EE0-4871-9DFE-CD07D1C29249.jpeg
My contribution to this theme included my Tigre Royal Fleuri 70 and Binta was the star of my Robinson Crusoe adventure :hbeat:.

I just sat down with my scarf spreadsheet, and here are the learnings:

I bought a total of 55 scarves this year, excluding my husband's gift. Among them:

  • Age:
    • The scarves range from 1964 (Les Coqs) to 2020.
  • Mode of purchase:
    • 18 (~1/3) were bought from the boutique.
    • The rest (~2/3) were from various other online sources (eBay, TRR)
      • I am surprised at how many came through those channels. But I do enjoy a good vintage scard.
  • Sizes:
    • 35 scarves (~2/3) were 90 cms; that's standard for me. I also bought:
      • 3 x 140s (unexpected -- I thought I would buy more large ones)
      • 1 x giant triangle (unexpected -- I thought I would buy more large ones)
      • 6 x 45s (a lot, considering I only wear them for horseback riding).
      • 3 x 70s (fewer than I thought)
      • The rest are various odds and ends like maxi twillies, one regular twilly, etc.
  • Mousseline status:
    • 5 scarves (10%) were mousselines
      • Disappointing as I hoped for more.
  • Color:
    • 23 (42%) were red / predominantly red (I am not counting red lines or splotches)
    • This means that 3/5th of the scarves were NOT RED.
  • Artists:
    • 6 (11%) scarves were by Alice Shirley
    • Cathy Latham and Robert Dallet are in the close second with 5 and 4 scarves, respectively
  • Special edition status:
    • 10 (18%) were special and limited editions, which is something I have been enjoying this year.

I will start actually posting some of those scarves tomorrow. I think I have never even shared some of them...
i always love seeing stats from others collecting! Can’t wait to see the scarves, in particular the NON Red ones!
A beautiful festive selection, scarf1. Patchwork Horse looks so amazing when it's tied.
Beautiful, Karenska. I think the striped hem was one of the most beautiful edges H have done.
Thank you Karenska. Yes, it was a couple of years ago now but I think the French site had it down as The Horscars. Somewhere I have a screenshot of it.
Thank you kindly Fifi!
Thank you, it's a truly mesmerising colour.
Thank you Langsam.
thank you!
The award for Most Glittery Scarf In My Collection goes to my 2008 iridescent Ex Libris, worn here on Christmas Day with my matching enamelled Rudolph earrings.

My first ever post on TPF! Wearing Rainbow Faubourg 140 shawl! I have had it for one month (first purchase from Hermes shop) and I am loving it! Adds colours to my usually otherwise boring outfits.

welcome!
Now the question is what will 2021 bring us silk lovers? My tansu is so full I must edit before buying anything else. Reflecting on this past year I sought out vintage and also Landed some very Special Edition silks too, and I enjoyed contributing to some worthy causes. So here are my “nominees” as they are all winners in my world

great additions! Twins on the jardin anglais. So jealous of the 2 special editions! Both wonderful CWs.
I don't quite know where to begin this week. I can't say my habits have changed all that much. I think I did tone it down just a little this year in purchasing, but still....not enough of the letting go for me yet.

I'll start with my up and coming favorite new format for me. It is getting dangerously close to overtaking mousselines in terms of the "favorite format" factor. So this is me: :woot: ... and my wallet: :crybaby:

This year a favorite purchase and favorite design are combined in to one "Best All Around Purchase" with Cosmographia CSGM:

I think we need to include the Horsawards ( or Horscars as I think it was called for a nanosecond upon issue ) for this week's theme, even though I didn't buy it this year. I cannot say enough how much I love the colour of this scarf. Anyway, just popping it on because of the awards connection.

A warm welcome to our new silky sisters @edaehnick, @Yoon daily scarf and @juzdin  Glad to have you on board!

DH bought me a new scarf for Christmas. Not gonna lie, I was secretly disappointed upon opening and finding it to be a 70cm and not the usual 90cm I’m used too! However I was still grateful for the lovely gift as I know he thinks these things are frivolous

however I am happy to report, having worn it today that it was still warm and cosy. And I do love the colours and design of this scarf. So all in all I love it. And will now investigate more 70cm scarves!
please excuse the wrinkles (in the scarf) had just taken it off.

the colours are just stunning. Not fully showing up in the pics. Hope it’s okay to share this here. Xxx
70s are one of my favourite sizes. Less silk to wrangle than a 90. If only H issued them in more designs...

I need to catch up on all the wonderful posts over the last few days. (I have seen some lovely pics from so many fly by!)

Here is a quiet but beautiful moussie I picked up this year. Inspired by @Sammy Royal . Ceintures et Liens.

I would say she is in the running for best supporting actress for an understated, sublime performance.View attachment 4939696
