My very best wishes to everyone for the New Year to all SOTD regulars, occasional posters and newcomers alike  .

The SOTD 2021 thread is now open and ready for business:

The new theme commences tomorrow (3 Jan - whenever your time zone gets there) but there's no reason why you can't post earlier if you want.

Lovely intro, fifi! I will have to do some deep thinking to be on theme this week. Only two or three spring to mind.

I adore your Noel scarf. I sometimes think about this one or Fleurs d'Hiver. I would love to pick one up, but I haven't made the commitment to buying another scarf that seems less likely to be one that I can wear year round. You are tempting me ;)

I adore your holiday brooches!!! Gorgeous.
I know what you mean about investing in a scarf with a limited wear time, but, on the other hand, they bring me such joy! And, then, there are those that work so well as holiday scarves solely because of their colors... One of my top scarves to wear at this time of the year has nothing to do with Christmas or winter... More about that one later in the week...

Xincinsin, I forgot to compliment you on your wonderful introduction and examples. My sincere apologies because I enjoyed the week immensely seeing everyone’s purple, violet, and plum offerings. I know we’ve moved on to an even more ‘festive’ topic :happydance:, but I am posting a few more purply examples from my SOTD photo archives.

All outstanding

Absolutely. Well, I loved it in photos and bought it from H.com. But triangles are quite pricey. I wasn’t sure I loved it on me. I thought perhaps the money could go to something else. But once I had it a few days, I really began to love it and couldn’t part with it. The fact that DH loved it, too, helped. So very glad I kept it. I have noted before, BTW, that giant triangles are one of my top formats- so easy to wear and they drape gorgeously. Thank you for asking, dear Monteverdi. :hugs:
Do you own any triangles?
I agree about the GTs... Love wearing mine, and would love to add more to my collex

Thank you to @Living.la.vida.fifi for the incredible introduction to this holiday week.

I have been saving my new-to-me Neige d'Antan for this week. I'll have to bring it out again once we get some of that snow so beautifully depicted on this scarf.

20 Dec 2020: Yuletide Spirit... Break out your festive scarves!

Happy Fourth Sunday of Advent, (also known as the Sunday before Christmas) my dear SOTD friends!

Many of us have been enjoying these glorious days of Advent and also looking forward to the Christmas festivities. And, yet others celebrate Hanukkah, Rohatsu, Kwanzaa or Yule... Of course, for our little community, that always means donning our silks of the season. I know I’ve been wearing mine, along with my holiday brooches, on repeat for the past three weeks.

Not only do I love wearing my holiday-themed scarves during these festive days, but also my winter-themed designs, as well as those scarves in colorways appropriate for the season, no matter the theme... and, those silks that are just plain festive...

We are coming to the end of a strange and challenging year, yet SOTD has remained a bright spot of solace and fellowship throughout. This week, let us relax, enjoy each other’s company and find joy in our beloved Silks of the Season and other Festive Scarves.

I shall begin with probably the most iconic of all of Hermès’ Christmas designs: Noël au Faubourg 24. I own this Grail in two CWs, and will begin with my pink, which is perfect to wear during Advent, since pink and purple are the traditional colors of the season. Last Sunday, the pink candle of the Advent wreath was lit, and tonight we light yet another purple candle. This is the scarf I will wear to our church services this evening.

I follow with a winter-themed beauty: Joies d’Hiver, which is another quintessential Hermès winter and holiday classic.

And, even though this design is neither Christmasy nor precisely winter-themed, I relate its colors and vibe with the holidays... It must be that vibrant red background; and those golden trumpets, lyres and pipes; and the Commedia dell’Arte figures that evoke a toyland theme; and the old world village scene. Somehow I associate it with Christmas and love to wear it at this time of year.

And, also for the fun of it, I am also going to show a few of my Christmas jewelry this week and encourage everyone to do the same. So, here is one of my huge Larry Vrba bejeweled Christmas tree brooches... These showstopping pins are among my favorite Christmas accessories, along with my Hermès scarves, of course!

So many furry darlings this week inspired me to show this festive Lea Stein cutie... And, on that subject, our darling animal children always steal the show around here, so perhaps we will see a few more... Methinks I will have my three furry children make an appearance as well...

I am looking forward to spending this special week with all of my dear SOTD friends and know we will spread the joy of all of our festive scarves. Let us share the glad tidings and enjoy the silken cheer.
very cute brooches, Fifi, and lovely scarves!

a beautiful colourway, Croisette - cousins with you, have to wear mine as well.

Hi Anna! I have facetimed once with my SA during the pandemic and been into the boutique a few times since they reopened in late summer. (They are closed right now due to a workplace exposure.) She has been great!

I am not sure exactly what vip status entails either - I just know I don't qualify! I imagine being invited to events, and I think there are occasional gifts.

I work to support my habit as it is, so I don't see bags in my future! As my sa says, scarves are my thing, so that is okay by me. I feel unbelievably fortunate to have been able to acquire the collection I have.

Btw, you enabled my red and white l'ivresse. I love it!
regarding bags, they were the start of my scarf journey. Bags are not easy as they are sometimes recognised and not standard fare in my surroundings. And I often use my bike to go to work, this is another argument against a very expensive bag (depending on the distance and weather also one against wearing an expensive scarf, I still have to acquire some more relaxed approach to wearing scarves when exercising).

scarves are more below the radar, so much easier to integrate into every day life. I also work, fulltime, which has led to some hilarious exchanges with my SA.

he looks very cheeky!

I am constantly tempted by noel and neige. I am sure I will wind up with one of those one day!

Agrume, same here. My scarves fly under the radar with all but two of my colleagues. (One of them commented on the expense of the scarves, so I actually try not to wear too many around her. :( It is my goal to keep it that way as it is not cosmopolitan here and because of my job.) And I am less precious about my scarves than I used to be, but not enough that I would want to break a sweat in them!
