My very best wishes to everyone for the New Year to all SOTD regulars, occasional posters and newcomers alike  .

The SOTD 2021 thread is now open and ready for business:

The new theme commences tomorrow (3 Jan - whenever your time zone gets there) but there's no reason why you can't post earlier if you want.

very cute brooches, Fifi, and lovely scarves!

a beautiful colourway, Croisette - cousins with you, have to wear mine as well.

regarding bags, they were the start of my scarf journey. Bags are not easy as they are sometimes recognised and not standard fare in my surroundings. And I often use my bike to go to work, this is another argument against a very expensive bag (depending on the distance and weather also one against wearing an expensive scarf, I still have to acquire some more relaxed approach to wearing scarves when exercising).

scarves are more below the radar, so much easier to integrate into every day life. I also work, fulltime, which has led to some hilarious exchanges with my SA.

he looks very cheeky!

Beautiful examples, Karenska!

Hi Foxy. I have the green swinging, but I think I will get the black and white - love that red hem! I am thinking about the monsieur you just picked up. It looks great on you!! I do love my orange one. :)
Thanks Awillow! I’m torn on the black and white swinging because I have two grey/black neutrals in my Minuit au faubourg and my space shopping. Nothing true black and white though, we shall see once mod shots start rolling in. It’s stunning for sure!

I totally get that. It is the same colors as my 70 Jeu des Omnibus. But the hem and scale make it different enough to me that I am likely to find it coming home with me!

Agrume, same here. My scarves fly under the radar with all but two of my colleagues. (One of them commented on the expense of the scarves, so I actually try not to wear too many around her. It is my goal to keep it that way as it is not cosmopolitan here and because of my job.) And I am less precious about my scarves than I used to be, but not enough that I would want to break a sweat in them!
Oh, well, have I alot to say on this particular subject. I am very guarded about my scarves, I never say they are H (except my husband’s aunt and my one aunt and cousin know I buy H scarves); when the few people ask about them, I just say I bought it on eBay and leave it at that. NO ONE but my husband knows about my relationship with tPF and its SOTD thread. I don’t want people making assumptions about my finances or make value judgments about spending. One relative had gratuitous, unsolicited things to say about my ballet-going. Also advised she looked me up, knew my salary because I was a public servant (retired now). No, I don’t want anyone trolling me. My scarves are my personal joy and it is my business and no one else’s! (Stomps foot!)

I know what you mean about investing in a scarf with a limited wear time, but, on the other hand, they bring me such joy! And, then, there are those that work so well as holiday scarves solely because of their colors... One of my top scarves to wear at this time of the year has nothing to do with Christmas or winter... More about that one later in the week...
Many things to say in response, dear Fifi, but for now, I’ll just say that the operative phrase in your comment is what I bolded!

What she said!
Thanks, Karenska!

Time to ride the Purple Train. All archive photos over the last year or so :happydance:. Spooky purple in Legende Kuna Peuple de Panama twilly. I do wear this on Halloween sometimes.View attachment 4932611
And bright, fun purples in La Source du Pegase, which I wore this Halloween. Don’t those little triangles look like cosmic candy corn? View attachment 4932606Beautiful lilacs and cranberries in Fetês Venitiennes. Love the popping colors in your Source de Pegasus. I was tempted by this design but the cosmic candy corn could not be unseen, once it was seen :)
