My very best wishes to everyone for the New Year to all SOTD regulars, occasional posters and newcomers alike  .

The SOTD 2021 thread is now open and ready for business:

The new theme commences tomorrow (3 Jan - whenever your time zone gets there) but there's no reason why you can't post earlier if you want.

20 Dec 2020: Yuletide Spirit... Break out your festive scarves!

Happy Fourth Sunday of Advent, (also known as the Sunday before Christmas) my dear SOTD friends!

Many of us have been enjoying these glorious days of Advent and also looking forward to the Christmas festivities. And, yet others celebrate Hanukkah, Rohatsu, Kwanzaa or Yule... Of course, for our little community, that always means donning our silks of the season. I know I’ve been wearing mine, along with my holiday brooches, on repeat for the past three weeks.

Not only do I love wearing my holiday-themed scarves during these festive days, but also my winter-themed designs, as well as those scarves in colorways appropriate for the season, no matter the theme... and, those silks that are just plain festive...

We are coming to the end of a strange and challenging year, yet SOTD has remained a bright spot of solace and fellowship throughout. This week, let us relax, enjoy each other’s company and find joy in our beloved Silks of the Season and other Festive Scarves.

I shall begin with probably the most iconic of all of Hermès’ Christmas designs: Noël au Faubourg 24. I own this Grail in two CWs, and will begin with my pink, which is perfect to wear during Advent, since pink and purple are the traditional colors of the season. Last Sunday, the pink candle of the Advent wreath was lit, and tonight we light yet another purple candle. This is the scarf I will wear to our church services this evening.

I follow with a winter-themed beauty: Joies d’Hiver, which is another quintessential Hermès winter and holiday classic.

And, even though this design is neither Christmasy nor precisely winter-themed, I relate its colors and vibe with the holidays... It must be that vibrant red background; and those golden trumpets, lyres and pipes; and the Commedia dell’Arte figures that evoke a toyland theme; and the old world village scene. Somehow I associate it with Christmas and love to wear it at this time of year.

And, also for the fun of it, I am also going to show a few of my Christmas jewelry this week and encourage everyone to do the same. So, here is one of my huge Larry Vrba bejeweled Christmas tree brooches... These showstopping pins are among my favorite Christmas accessories, along with my Hermès scarves, of course!

So many furry darlings this week inspired me to show this festive Lea Stein cutie... And, on that subject, our darling animal children always steal the show around here, so perhaps we will see a few more... Methinks I will have my three furry children make an appearance as well...

I am looking forward to spending this special week with all of my dear SOTD friends and know we will spread the joy of all of our festive scarves. Let us share the glad tidings and enjoy the silken cheer.

Beautiful intro fifi! Your Pink Noel is so elegant!

All gorgeous bunnycat!

Thank you Croisette!

What a beautiful colorway Croisette!

I love that dipdye in particular! The bits of green are awesome.

Thank you moma!

Beautiful, bunny. Love this pareo on you! (Twins on acte iii, like so many others.) Glad to see you! Hope things slow down a bit soon.

Thank you kindly Awillow! (Hopefully this next week, I'll have a little time off.)

You look lovely, Bunnycat. Love your JQ and Acte III- :faint:.

Thank you Karenska!

Xincinsin, I forgot to compliment you on your wonderful introduction and examples. My sincere apologies because I enjoyed the week immensely seeing everyone’s purple, violet, and plum offerings. I know we’ve moved on to an even more ‘festive’ topic :happydance:, but I am posting a few more purply examples from my SOTD photo archives.
