Earlier this week, I shared that Aline Honore was my theoretical favorite scarf artist. Then Florence Manlik took the runner-up position as a surprise favorite whose designs get a lot of play in my wardrobe.

But the one whose designs I most love, wear repeatedly, and have the most designs by is a very dark horse and unexpected candidate: Bali Barrett.

I know she's not a popular designer and I understand why. When her designs are flat, they're very uninteresting. I look at them and see the monochromatic outline of a man and a carriage, or the letter H, or a kaleidescopic globe. But when they're tied, they have energy and pop. Her asymmetrical designs seem particularly fresh and quirky without being cute.

Tout en Carre is one of my most-worn scarves. I think I've worn it at least 20+ times this year.

Faubourg by Night is proving more challenging to wear because of the lack of teal in my Fall/Winter closet. I've started experimenting with black and gray @AnnaE's suggestion, but I'm a little hesitant about that pairing for some reason. I feel like it makes the scarf look "loud"?

H en Fil is new. I love it. It's a big boring monochromatic letter H (one color, no complexity - all elements we love to complain about)... But it just looks so cool when it's worn. To me, this is the magic of BB's designs. They are not display pieces; they need to be worn to come alive.

What a beautiful ode to your favorite designer, @FugitiveRouge ! I'm intrigued by BB's designs for the same reasons as you. Hopefully someday I will find the right design and colorway for me!

Today’s favorite artist is an oldie but a goodie. Henri de Linares. I know, I know - there can be a squick factor but the beauty of the art is extraordinary.

(Always hunting for more of his work - a few are grails though and hard to get [emoji4])
You are very photogenic :hugs:I am impressed with that jacquard. I struggle with them cuz they are stiffer; but it looks like this is a good way to tie it! I have one with weeds blowing into a fence (yeah, i know ) I might give it a try.

I only have one of his but i really admire Nigel Peake’s modernity ! I love my On a Summer Day [emoji39] that i have shown already lots of times here i think !
Today i got scarf mail, my second CSGM - i love it !!

Oh goodness - you are such a sweetie! Thank you! :hugs:
You should try this tie - it's @bunnycat's bova knot cowboy. She's got a tutorial here - https://forum.purseblog.com/threads...carves-no-chatter.189943/page-6#post-32433919 post #85.
(I find this easier to do if I'm looking in the mirror ;))

I'm one of those who can't get over the squick factor...but these look so lovely tied on you!

Yes! I really like this design in the large format. It does really well in large format.

My two runners up for the week (since I don't have as many scarves from them as I do Alice Shirley)

Dimitri R and also Aline Honore. I really tend to like their overall designs flat as well as tied, and I think that is my defining factor for a favorite artist even more so than total number of scarves. Dallet, though I love his treatment of the big cats- I almost always end up with trouble tying the designs so though I wouldn't give any of my Dallet up by any stretch, I also rate easy of tying very highly.

Aline Honore- so easy for me to tie. Everywhere I look there's something interesting to show.
