So my personal experience with the SF store... I'm local (as in I can walk there) called for an appt (they're still appointment only) and left a message. I was then promptly called back and had an appt the following week. Was paired randomly with an SA but I feel we just did not click. I purchased shoes and a twilly, and I appreciated how she was very clear and honest with what I should expect for a B or K and indicated items I should purchase later on. I admittedly tried to make the relationship work and pinged her for some shoes I would like and she told me they didn't have any. Lo and behold..the SA I met in Hawaii had them and shipped them asap! So she didn't even check other stores inventory

It really bums me out because I recently met TWO amazing SAs in Hawaii! One who my friends purchased with and one I purchased with. Hawaii also had a vast selection in stores of shoes, twillies and rodeos that SF does not. Even more importantly, the store feels luxurious without feeling cold and so I would like to make Hawaii a home store but a 6 hour flight is not insignificant! My fiance also does not like Hawaii  I am going to Vegas next month so I am considering building a purchase history there, but my partner and I are thinking of trying for kids next year and when I think of "where can I drag my family for a shopping trip" Hawaii feels more reasonable to me than Vegas. But Vegas could really be a one-day trip if I was feeling ambitious.

I feel like I'm still oscillating between "wanting to play the game" in SF or Hawaii, or even Vegas but just wanted to share my SF experience, although it's just one experience and I'm sure the SA I met has customers she has a solid relationship with...
What did she say her expectations were for you to get a B or K? Curious!

Haha I might have misrepresented, she wasn't dollar amount clear or spend ratio clear. But highly suggested I buy fine jewelry, RTW, silks, home goods, and belts. She also let me know if I wanted the smaller bags (I'm barely 5'2 so B35 is not an option imo) I would be waiting a long time as theyre much harder to come by :|

How about the Palo Alto store? I think that’d be a great alternative to SF. I’m kind of in a similar situation like you, I’m in socal but don’t want to deal with the competition in BH/SCP. I used to frequent Vegas before having kids but I haven’t been ever since I got pregnant (because really, what’s there to do in Vegas casinos for kids?). I have a young child but luckily we bought a timeshare in Hawaii so it’s now my home store. However, it seems much simpler to just have a store nearby where I could pop in every now and then.

I definitely thought about the PAO store! I actually love that shopping mall, I feel very safe and relaxed there vs. Union Square which has gotten kind of seedy. There was actually an attempted robbery and shooting there of someone with a rolex but it weirdly..did not get much news traction. But I figured competition would be fierce there as well, lots of deep pockets in the peninsula. So jealous you frequent Hawaii often! I really wish I could make it my home base.

I think I will just try my luck again in SF :)

You are at a good stage right now to feel out how well you will click with an SA. If you didn't click well with the SA you were originally assigned to, then you still have the option of looking at another store (like Palo Alto) or trying another SA.

Not knowing how store to store shipping works for Hermes and giving the benefit of the doubt, I would postulate that it's easier for stores to agree to send directly to customer as opposed to another store. I feel like a store to store would require requests and approvals whereas shipping to the customer only requires a sale.

Again I have no idea.

I completely agree with whatever is said about the SF store! I went to the SF store on my birthday and I was randomly paired with a SA as well and it was a disaster! They pretty much had no color combinations I was looking for and it was a waste of time. The SA showed no interest at all ( I was carrying my birkin, had on my Kelly belt, 90 cm scarf and my white oasis sandals). I’m not a newbie to Hermes, but this is the worst store in the entire U.S. I’ve had great shopping experiences in Vegas, Atlanta, Houston and Dallas store. Stay away from SF especially if you’re a newbie.. it has a snobby vibe!

I definitely feel you on this!! I bought a scarf for my mom at January and went to the SF Hermes store since I'm a local too. They paired me up with a SA called Barbara. I told her I was interested in purchasing Avalon Blanket/ pillow. She said it was sold out and had to place an order for me. Fast forward 4 months later, not a single update. I'm just super bummed out because she didn't even text me or anything because she has my phone number. I wanted to start building my relationship with this SA but guess not.

Ah I tried getting one of these too! Both stores, SF and HI are out and do not know when they'll restock. I do feel, like all things manufacturing Hermes has been impacted by covid and general disruptions to the supply chain. But I agree, a friendly update would be great as so many things H can feel unclear :)

Hi everyone,
I hope this isn't a silly question but I'm still quite new to Hermes and I feel lost about phone ordering and store-to-store shipping. I recently called SF asking about some shoes but they do not have them in stock so they gave me Waikiki's number to call. A representative from Waikiki calls me back to inform me that they cannot ship to me (I'm in the bay area) and that I need to go through the SF Hermes store to order. I tell all of this to the SF boutique and they gave me Madison and Boston boutiques to call. I haven't called the east coast stores yet since they were closed when I got the information. I'm wondering if it's even possible for these different locations to ship to me if I don't have a SA or purchase history.

I know Wall St NY and Wynn in Vegas would ship... especially if less than $5k I think.

If you can, go to the store, have fun, ask about the shoes and see if they can order them for you while in the store. Pre-pandemic generally they would only order in from other stores if you were physically in the store to make the transaction. For someone who is a new client, they are perhaps less likely to do the lift on this for you without that in person visit.

Thank you, this is so helpful to me!

Hello- Where do you all park when visiting the store? I parked at the union square garage before and didn’t feel safe at all walking there alone with my hermes orange shopping bag.

with increased number of crimes in SF (and union square area feels so shady these days!!), I am trying to see if there’s closer option (maybe meter park?). Thank you!
