Over on the H&M thread someone mentioned The Queen insisted Philip's mother come live with them when she got older and more frail. I thought that was so lovely.
It was shown in the Crown. Not sure how accurate it is, but it showed Phillip seeming somewhat embarrassed of his mother, and Anne absolutely loved her spirit!

The wedding photo 20 Nov 1947 -how beautiful - the best man was Phillips cousin David Michael Mountbatten - the last bridesmaid on the back row had the amazing name of Diana Cinderella Mildred Bowes Lyon (the Queens cousin on her mothers side). The front row has Queen Mary wife of George V , Princess Alice of Battenburg Phillips mother and on the far right Phillips grandmother a granddaughter of Victoria such history in one photo

And showing my age the RF as I remember it from 1977 Silver Jubilee year - this was the Queens closest family her mother sister and cousins with their and her children - those Ogilvy children grew up with the Queens children as playmates as did the Kent’s children and the Queen always included them as close family right to the end and all their children and grandchildren

I have a purse so similar to Phillips grandmothers lol

The Queen seemed to look on her cousin Alexandra as another - maybe more reliable, sister -a confidant and someone she could trust -much as she loved indeed adored Margaret she was a trial and public embarrassment to her

Don't worry 1977 was the year I got married, even if I was very young, it shows my age more than yours, lol;)

Lady Anne Coke, now Lady Glenconner, is still with us
Yes but she wasn’t a bridesmaid - she was one of the ladies at the Coronation - the Queen had close family friends as bridesmaids at her wedding -she had never met some of the girls chosen for the coronation many were daughters of friends of her parents chosen for their rank

Anne Tennant ( Lady indeed now Baroness Glenconner ) was engaged to Johnnie Viscount Althorpe ( later Earl Spencer Diana's father ) but his father objected to the match on the grounds of “mad blood “ - one of her grandmothers was a Trefusis and the engagement was broken off

Two of the Queens cousins Nerissa and Katherine Bowes Lyon ( daughters of the Queen mothers brother John ) were the daughters of Fenella nee Hepburn -Stuart- Forbes -Trefusis and it is believed the Trefusis family had a genetic disorder that killed male children in infancy and caused insanity in females - Nerissa and Katherine were committed to a lunatic asylum as “imbeciles” and could not speak . Their sister Diana was the queens bridesmaid in the photo above
