I work at a 'posh' hotel and one of our regular business visitors tries to bring wife and child about once a month. The little girl is so adorable, about three years old. The mrs has some nice Vuittons and a gorgeous Fendi Peekaboo. What is less adorable is when said 3yo 'helps' mommy and carries her handbag by dragging it behind her on the floor...and out the door...onto the pavement... I gather she can easily afford a ton of bags but it seems like such a waste, no way those bags survive that treatment unchafed.

OMG no!

It drives me crazy when people are negligent with the care of their stuff. I feel like they don't deserve it when so many people would die to have even one of those bags :(

Oh, I am guilty. Maybe not purposeful abuse, but---
I recently set my mulberry alice zipped tote on damp concrete, next to a taiko drum.
And, I launched down a carnival fun slide with my diesel reboot tote--several times, arms up & screaming. This bag also rode on carousel animals & carried candy floss.
Everyone survived. :)
Love my bags, but also love experiencing life.

The rich can afford to be careless. They can afford for their children to be careless. It's sad but true. And the system is set up to accommodate this. Think of the jerk you once worked with, the rich snot who never did her share of the work but got promoted anyway because mum is besties with a board member. The rich girls at my college were always the ones throwing their LV or MCM on the floor or their sunglasses in their bag without the case, etc.

Maybe they wipe it off if it isn't leather. I am careful not to put my leather bags on the floor.

Not sure I fit into "they" category--
But, I see more beauty in unique imperfection than bags kept sterile/untouched.
Also, I use collonil waterstop spray & leather gel, which help to repel dirt as well as water.

Yes, everyone is different and handbags are different materials also. I bet the gel is good.:smile1:

The Tivoli GM has feet, not sure if the bottom is bending though.

I set my bags with feet on the floor all the time as long as the floor doesn't look wet or dirty or could be dirty (bathroom floors)

Wise words. Bags are not meant to be objects of veneration. They should be enjoyed in the context of what they're designed to do. And of course protective measures mentioned above (collonil, etc.) are very prudent.

We both know I'm paranoid-careful with how I treat sunglasses, however. :)

Hi to my co-members of the handbag adventure sporting club! [emoji4] Had to put one of my bags down on the restaurant's floor last week. No demons crept into it. [emoji6]
