Got my delightful mm back surprisingly early! Quoted me 8-10 MONTHS!! but it was only 8 weeks they even gave me a new and improved drawstring dust bag lol. Also, my bag was made in the US, but it now says made in France. I guess because it was repaired in France?

The previous condition was actually fine to me, even nice light golden patina, and look like new, that tiny little tear won't get worse if using with care. But I understand some prefer to have perfect new looking bags. It's just there are a lot of money to spend on replacing leather on this bag and it would look the same if using it for a year regularly. It does look super pretty like a new bag though :)

The torn leather would lead to torn canvas and then LV wouldn’t fix the bag. It was mostly about Preserving the bag. I loved my honey patina but I didn’t want to risk it getting worse. I think the repair was with the investment :)

Your old model delightful (10 years or older) could easily sell for $500 even with the little tear because it looked beautiful as it was, (or could used it as it was for another 2-3 years then sell) $500 + $960 = $1,460, while a brand new hobo 2023 such as graceful currently can get in store for $1760- $1890 plus tax, or get a preowned in like new condition anywhere from $1,100 - $1,350, just my logical mind calculates all the numbers haha, forgive me, I always count numbers

Not sure why this is an argument.. it’s supposed to be an informative forum to help others out with costs of repairs. Luckily, we all get to spend our money the way we wish.

So i brought in a multicles Rabat to have repaired (loose snap button and some glazing issues) and this is what they quoted me. Seems exorbitant and I told them so and request the item be sent back without repair. It’s 3x the purchase price!

If you love it you could try a non lv repair place like Rago Brothers to see if less expensive

It’s funny you should mention that because I’ve been meaning to contact them about another item I wanted to have worked on by them. I follow them on instagram and find their workmanship impeccable. Vuitton’s official atelier has made repair costs so cost prohibitive it seems to be the best alternative. It’s almost as if they’d rather us purchase new than repair pieces we already own and love

In the UK. Had my vintage Amazone repaired, £80 to replace the leather tabs at either side which connect the strap to the bag, and £120 to re-line the interior pocket which was black and sticky. It took about 12 weeks to come back, which is what they advised when I took it in.

£80 to fix both sides seems really reasonable. Are you letting the sides patina naturally or speeding it up? It looks fab! The sides of these style bags can be quite fragile, I have a mono and Epi Trocadero which are similar.

So, this is me telling the SA to reject the repair and just have the item sent back to the boutique....

I said let me check the repair status to see if it has updated and lo and behold. *eye roll*

I'm going to keep this screen shot to show that i refused the repair since now the status has been updated to 'in progress'.

I've had instances where the SA has told me upon repair initiation that no charge would be assessed and received the invoice stating no cost. Come pick up time, they tried to assess $325 for a canvas strap repair and i told them "i was never told there'd be a cost associated with this repair and had that lovely little orange receipt book to verify." I walked out with my brand new strap and my wallet still full ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
