Oh BL, this is terrible! I had no idea! I am sure someone can figure it out and fix it, though....there are so many metallic bags out there now that it must be big business. Don't give up on the metallics! I have dragged my little pewter First everywhere this summer, and she is just pristine! Maybe the smaller size is easier to keep in good shape? But those marks are very odd...especially when you didn't come into contact with anything. I don't understand that at all! Best wishes to your beautiful bag!

looking at your pictures, it does look like an area of wear. but something must have rubbed up against pretty vigorously for it to look like that.

so sorry to hear this happened! i hope the cleaner has some advice.

I know you are all going to think I am crazy, but I will post anyway.

If it cannot be professionally fixed, I would try craft paint mixed with water.

Before you say no, or call me nuts, I have done it with great results.

First I would see if can be fixed, but if it can't, it is all already kinda sorta ruined.

I would find metallic paint the same color, or as close as you can find, mix some with a little water, then use you finger to rub it in. Clean off any mixture that gets on the good part of the bag.

You may have to go over the spots a few times. You have to let it dry between coats.

It will never be perfect, but it may work enough that you don't notice the damage unless you look for it.

It would be a "last resort" fix, but it worked for me on a paddy.

I hope everything works out well, balenciagalove!!! I understand too cause I really mind small imperfections even what other folks just say 'oh you won't even notice it'..

I HATE it when people say "just don't look at it". totally minimizes a real issue, and completely invalidates our experience! I'm in the mental health profession so I know real OCD from OCD-just-want-my-b-bag-to-be-perfect, and WE DON'T HAVE OCD!!! HAHAHA. Am I in denial?

;)

^^^ Thanks for the address! I called them and mailed it off today, insured and all. I will keep everyone posted on how it turns out. I'm trying not to be down on all metallics right now. I'm just a bit shocked that this all happened over the course of a 2-hour dinner.

Pearl - I like your idea. If they can't fix it, I will probably try something like what you said. I am really really hoping that someone who knows what they are doing (vice me) will be able to fix it though. My mom once sent me to the hardware store for some paint for her bathroom and I totally missed the matching process. It ended up looking like a lemonaid bomb.

Didi - Isn't Denial the first step? I wonder about my compulsive nature with regards to bags sometimes too.
