That is also happening to me. I sold my Rouille because of this exact thing. I think certain colors are worse than others. I'd like to see this thread have a good response, because it's probably happening to all of us!

Here's a picture of mine.... I have used it very gentle, and I haven't had it for THAT long so I'm kind of dissapointed. I still love it though!

Wow, I just checked mine and they are all fine but I looked particularly close at my 04s and they seem good...I'll definitely keep an eye on the newer ones though--I'm sure it's a case of quality decreasing with the new bags (as, unfortunately, always seems to happen...i.e. Juicy anyone?)

Maybe moisturizer would help to prevent this but I'm not sure.

If the paint has just started to peel a little bit, I would try dabbing on a small amount of LMB cleaner and drying with a hair drier. The LMB serves a bit of a filling or gluing function. I have had a lot of success using this for a variety of minor signs of wear (e.g., scratches, scuffs, split tassels, edging or piping curling up).

Is restoration a bad thing? I see varying opinions here and came across this auction: eBay: Authentic Balenciaga Bag in Turquoise First 04 (item 220072479022 end time Jan-21-07 18:05:35 PST)

The seller appears to think that the work she had done has lessened the resale value of the bag? I think the handles look fantastic and pretty!

So my question is, is restoration or handles-cleaning-restoring only for bags you want to keep forever and not resell at some point?

Does sending your bag off to Lovin My Bags HARM THE INTEGRITY OF YOUR BAG?

In my opinion I would rather have a restored bag than a nasty oily-palm stained bag.

In fact, since I have purchased a very badly stained bag and now have to go through the expense of having it cleaned/restored - I can state with certainity that I would rather the seller have incurred this expense and time-intensive process than to go through it myself.

In short, I do not think restoration reduces the value - after all, these 04-05 colors are not readily available and there are those of us who have a "favorite" past season color. We are willing to spend the money on a past season bag provided it is in good condition - there is nothing worse than buying a coveted color and then finding out upon receipt of the bag that it is in sub-standard condition. Then we the buyers have to go through the restoration process - which is NOT cheap! If the seller has already gone through this restoration process then I would have no problem paying a fair value price for the bag - I don't think discounting it is necessary. I do think that a bag that needs restoration should be sold for $300-350 less than retail value because of the expenses the buyer will incur to restore the bag to a "carryable" state.

No one's responding to this thread. This is like the third time I've started a thread and no one's posted. I guess you have to be friends with everyone before you're part of the "in" crowd, huh? :shame:

I have one more question and then I'll shut up:

Has anyone sent a bag to LMB for work and had a BAD result?

Anthracite - Don't think that no one is responding because of you. :shame:

Honestly, I think most people here have no experience with sending a bag to LMB.

I have a bbag at my local cleaners right now - but, I am going to need to send it to LMB for color restoration. I plan on taking pics of the before and after. I don't get to pick up my bag from the cleaners until this Wednesday - at that time, I will decide when I am sending it to LMB.

I think that if you have a bag in need of LMB's services then how is it possible to have a result worth than how the bag is. At least that is how I feel about the bbag I am going to send them.

I think you will find that the members here will absolutely respond to your threads if and when they have something to add. :smile1: (be assured, that I will.) :flowers:
