i think it's fine if only a FEW high traffic areas have been WELL restored;
if the body of the bag has its leather/dye untouched, and those few restored areas look and feel the same as a new bag?

in that case, as for what i'd be prepared to pay for it...:
i'd take the amount i'd be willing to pay for this colour and season of bbag (how in demand that colour is in general + to you, how rare) in unrestored as-new condition,
- minus $150 or so for being either in slightly-somewhat worn condition or restored (only if as specified before)

but in the end, what we always pay for any bbag is always determined by how badly we want THAT one in particular.

Although the colour of the bag seems slightly different from my 04 turquoise, I think it's still very pretty and as long as you love it, the value shouldn't matter that much :flowers:

Well honestly, I think you should pass up this bag. So far you seem much more concerned about the re-sell value than how the bag looks or feels which means you do not really plan on keeping it for good.

Just my 2 cents.

I'm about to send off my 05 navy for repair. I thought about getting a total restoration, but I don't think I want to do that after thinking about it. I like my bag looking used, but it does need some touch up where my kitty bit into it. I think minor repair is good, when it needs it.

Thanks for all your input, and yes I am concerned about resale value. I LOVE THE BAG AND INTEND ON KEEPING IT; but I also know me. I LOVE EVERYTHING BALENCIAGA!!!!!!! I don't have ANY plans to resale, BUT, I must say, its imperative to me to know that I CAN resale and still be ethical and true to Balenciaga purse owners. Two years from now when I may be tired of it, I DON'T WANT TO BE ON A THREAD BEING B BAG BASHED!!!! LOL

I want to be honest and thought of as someone ANYONE could trust to get the B Bag of their dreams; so that's why I want to know NOW and not later.

YOU GUYS ARE THE GREATEST; THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!!!!!!!!

JULIE

i think they did a super awesome job restoring it! well based on that one picture. i'm sure if you disclosed that you did some restoration of the bag, and then showed all the pictures, then you will be totally ethical about it.

As long as there is full disclosure I don't have any problems with restoration. Some bags are just abused and not treated right by their previous owners. If it's not disclosed and you find out later, it might just break your heart!

 WELL..I FEEL MUCH BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Barbara from lovinmybags emailed and gave me the low down on exactly what was done to the bag. She assured me that she touched up corners, handles, and buckles and well moisturized the rest. She went on to say that the bag DID NOT NEED REDYEING, THAT IT WAS IN GREAT SHAPE!

I guess if the PF'er tells me so and the restoration company tells me so, i better be happy with that and judge the bag on my PERSONAL loves or dislikes when I get it. Around here, "buying a pig in a poke" is a big "NO" so i stepped out of my comfort zone IMMEDIATELY when i did just that.

Thanks girls for all your help, great advice and tips. Special thanks to Zacorey; your the best:yes:

(Sure do hope I'm not the only southern here that understands the "pig in a poke" complex!!!!!!!!!!!)

That's great news! As the majority has said here, touch ups are the way to go. I personally came in contact with a bag that was completely painted, and as was stated in this thread, it felt funny and smelled funny. Also there were paint splotches on all the hardware. So it is really good news that only the corners, handles, and buckles were done. We all know that it isn't just the color we love about Bal-bags, but the feel and smell as well! Congrats Julie, and please let us know what you think when it arrives!

I'm happy that Barbara from Lovinmybags was able to respond to julie directly, since she is GREAT!!

Deana,
I suspect that maybe the restoration job you saw (and felt) was poorly done. I agree that it's always preferable to leave original leather untouched, but sometimes a well-used bag means dirty and smelly, not just a little faded or worn (which is cool), and that's when restoration can give a whole new life to a bag, especially if it's a favorite that you can't stand to retire!:flowers:

I noticed the leather is coming apart on the edges on my Black Twiggy, you can see the white thing underneath.
Does Balenciaga repair their bags? Anyone else ran accross this problem? Or should I find someone else to repair the problem?
Any helpful input is appreciated.
