Try lovinmybags! My twiggy is in pretty bad shape and they told me they can fix her up! I would email them and explain the damage as best you can. Their prices depend on how much work your bag needs. :flowers:

Usually when I get a bag from someone else that has been used I like to wipe it down with a soft cloth, say a wash cloth, just to get all of the surface dirt off of it. I think you can tell a lot about how much wear a b-bag has had by the corners. If they aren't worn too bad you might be okay with just using conditioner on it. If the leather is dry or hasn't been taken care of (left out in the heat, gotten wet, etc) it might just need to be conditioned. I usually use Apple Guarde, but I'm sure there are some other conditioners that work well. This should give the leather a bit more of a luster and make it look a little less tired.

The bags can look a bit sad and worn when empty, even brand new ones. It might help to stuff it with a towel or old t-shirt and see how it looks. Of course if its clean enough you could just try putting your stuff in it.

Wow, that ArtBag transformation was incredible. I think I'll get a quote, but I don't think I can spend as much to recondition as I did for the bag -- hopefully won't be so much since nothing's torn, etc.

By the way - I'm certainly no expert in the short time I've been here -- can anyone tell me how to tell the year of my bag? Do the numbers tell the tale?

Promise to post pics in the a.m.

Hi! What a great story....my favorite kind...a bbag for a steal! I would love to see pics....what do the numbers say?

Mocean's bag had to have the piping redone so I think just a cleaning and a conditioning would cost much much less....It depends on what coast you are too...lovingmybags is in the bay area, california...there are other good shoe handbag repair shops in LA like Arturo's ...and in New York...Artbag.

Congrats! That story sounds like it was fate...

It did feel like fate! I couldn't believe I purposely went to this store to look for this bag and there it was -- it was waiting for me....

I'm in CA in the bay area. Can't find a website called lovinmybag or lovingmybag -- does anyone know what the site is called?

I sent my city to ArtBag and had excellent results ;) here is their link: Artbag Creations – Quality Custom Leather Goods and Repairs

and here is the link for lovinmybags: Lovin My Bags Leather Care for Handbags

I dont think it would be much more expensive to send it to artbag than lovinmybag for a conditioning and cleaning, and it doesnt hurt to get an estimate via email. I sent pics to both places before choosing. so try both and get price quotes! I've heard excellent reveiws of both places for conditioning and cleaning treatments :flowers:

good luck and post pics when you can!

Here's the pics I took this a.m. (hope I do this right) No stains or tears, but you can see it's pretty tired - some of the piping is worn and some rub marks. But what a beautiful bag! So soft, it's like butter!

I'm definitely going to contact lovinmybags and artbag and get quotes. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks for all the replies/suggestions!

oh my! Your bag is gorgeous! It is so so smoochy buttersoft~:love:
I'm sure a little TLC from either one will be fantastic!:yahoo:

LOVELY! I think you can refurbish it yourself with a little bit of Apple leather conditioner and some spare time. Before you invest in the professionals, try to condition it yourself and see how it looks.
