...doing a little background research on Folies du Ciel and googled Loic Dubigeon. What turned up was quite, er, let's call it 'racy' :amazed: :blushing: Do I have the right artist? I searched in vain for a link that I thought would be appropriate to post here.

I have been thinking about the new Graff design and admiring H's 'out-of-the-box' decision to select it for production. Then I came across the Loic Dubigeon images and have been, hmmm, hard to describe it, 'blown away'? What must the design meetings have been like when someone suggested 'hey, let's get that guy Loic Dubigeon to do a design for us'? Is it a Gallic sensibility? A different cultural perspective?

Mods: not sure if this is the right place for this question, please move/delete as appropriate; thx

Um, er, wow. I have never googled him. Could there be two? I dunno. Am diving into my Hermes books to see what I can find. Gallic perhaps. Perhaps along the same lines of Lilanga being okay in Europe but not ordered in the U.S. Please let us know what you find. I will as well.

:amazed: I know, right? I looked on some art auction websites and saw references to the fact that the 'racy' Dubigeon also did some scarf designs for Hermes but I wasn't confident that the auction websites were really on top of their game. The dates seem possible but the, shall we say, contrast in subject matter seems astonishing. But then I think about Persona which is a design I've always found a little 'edgy' and hypothesize that maybe it is the same artist. More research......

Oh, come on! Fantaisies Indiennes and Confidents des Coeurs?!!! Can't be. This is the most fun research I've done in a long while. Thanks.

Dear Ladies,
As the curious person I am I took a look on LDs work and I almost laughed my head off. Could it be one of the Hermes decision makers sense of humor?!

In the meanwhile I have another question for you with a scarf much "kinder" (but not as spectacular) as the LD art- I bought it from a French lady but I cannot find it in the usual archives. Anyone?

Not quite sure what you are all talking about as we lost some posts...

Oh My!! Just googled "Loic Dubigeon"! I see what you mean there.

BTW, there are initials on the feet of one of the Teddy Bears; I am not at my studio, and forgot the details, but there are initials on the bottom of one of the feet...

Anyway, what scarf were you originally talking about?

Brage, I can't seem to get those pictures any larger....especially since it is "nautical" I am interested!

textilegirl, as I have a Persona and as I'm geeky, I did some serious Dubigeon googling. I'm pretty positive Loïc Dubigeon did both those books and Hermes designs. I couldn't find an official source that would connect his both creative personalities but in France, it is an extremely rare first name / last name combination, so it's unlikely that there could have been TWO contemporary artists with this name. The only fact seems to be that he was born in 1934 and died in 2003.

Hopefully sdsurfchick would find us the proof!

All I found was that this topic has been discussed for years, and that he did in fact create all those drastically different designs and erotic art. If you all are members at HSCI, you can search messages for his name and scroll back to 2005!
