Thanks sdsurfchick. I just joined TPF so it says at the top of my page that I "need to contribute 10 posts in existing discussions and have 5 days of membership" before I am allowed to start discussion threads so, I thought this might be the best alternative posting here but ?
Thanks for your suggestions.

I didn't properly clarify in my post above that I'm looking for your thoughts on this type of hole in a Hermes silk scarf... would you live with it or can it spread - in which case, I will be sending it back (I'm not asking about how to deal with the issue in ebay). Thanks again.
Unless you badly handle the scarf, including washing, twisting, over tying, what-have-you, the tiny hole should remain a tiny hole. Again, you need to decide how much you love the scarf.

CREATIVE ARTS COUNCIL - DUMAS LECTURE

On Monday, March 7th, Pierre-Alexis Dumas '91, Chief Creative Officer of Hermès delivered a lecture entitled: A Journey on Silk from Art to Craft. A standing room only crown listened to Dumas discuss the constant tension of design challenging craft that helps us to develop skill and knowledge. The lecture, one in a series born in 2008, was born out of the desire to challenge tradition and bridge fine and contemporary art together with silk-printing craft.

This is really really long, but really really worthwhile. You will learn some very interesting stuff.

Hi SDSC, long time no talk, and meantime my little pile of orange boxes (note I said pile) is growing! I found this design on an older forum here today and adore it. Do you know what it is please?

Wassit, hope you are well! This is A Contre Courant from 2005 by Isabelle Barthel. The title should be in the rolling wave. If it's not, then we have a problem.

Dear, Lovely Ladies, I recently bought this scarf and I'm stuck regarding year of issue, name and artist. I attach some photographs. The scarf has text both in French and English: Jeu de Steeplechase and containes rules of the game. The border is half blue and half red- It appears to be quite old as the tag only says Made in France. I cannot find a copyright mark or a artists signature but I do think it is authentic, just old. Can anybody help. TIA and Happy easter!
Brage, I heard from Hermes. Here is their response:

"We thank you for your interest in our products.

The pictures you sent us are from the scarf 'Steeple Chase', which was issued in 1939. It was designed by Charles Pittner.

We stay at your disposal, should you need any other information.

Sincerely,"

Wow! Thank you Sdsurfchick for going through all that trouble. Great to know that this scarf is really old, and Pittner! It's my first Pittner, i am thrilled! Thanks again!

Yes, actually! It turns up most things. "the name"+hermes (I tried a whole bunch of versions of Steeple Chase... as one word, as the french, with some of the French in the scarf (often a few words + hermes) will turn up a listing.

But... I figured the expert (you) was on the Chase (pun intended) so I just got back to work and waited, and voila!! there's the answer!

Ate Chinese food in honor of you sds, last night,
jahna

I don't remember who posted this for information (probably Brage). I heard from Hermes, who said they do not know the scarf. Those are their words, so I don't know if it means they can't identify it, or it is not Hermes.

Dear Sdsurfchick, yes it was me and I did not buy the scarf in the end as I was very uncertaine when you didn't recogniz it in the first place. It was sold at an american auction house. Could it be one of the early fakes?

Thank you for investigate the matter,
Best regards,

Hi again, it was actually sold in the same lot as this one I found on eBay right know (how peculiar!). I mean one scarf look exactly the same. If you look at the sellers information, quite interesting!
