I was given an Hermes scarf in the Carpe Diem design with a large sun in the middle and roman numerals in a half circle below. Many rich colors in this scarf. Does anyone know when this was produced? It is fairly heavy silk and I would guess silk twill. It has the accent and the copyright mark so I believe it is authentic. Would like to know an approximate value if I were to sell it.

Dear, Lovely Ladies, I recently bought this scarf and I'm stuck regarding year of issue, name and artist. I attach some photographs. The scarf has text both in French and English: Jeu de Steeplechase and containes rules of the game. The border is half blue and half red- It appears to be quite old as the tag only says Made in France. I cannot find a copyright mark or a artists signature but I do think it is authentic, just old. Can anybody help. TIA and Happy easter!

brage, this is amazingly beautiful. I am researching and will share with you whatever I learn.

Did anyone find anything on this scarf? it is really quite amazing. Looked at some major steeple chase sites thinking it might have been associated with one but no luck...

Here is one I would like to know more about, and if anyone has seen it available:

I have been using HSCI's photo catalogue for years, but have just happened upon this list. Please bookmark this invaluable tool.

Dear Sdsurfchick,
Thank you for investigate regarding the steeplechase scarf. Are Hermes really answering your questions? If so, I am impressed!

For the HSCI, this catalogue is great and I've used it a lot. I've noticed that the information attached to the photopage regarding year of issue and artist now is gone. Or is it just me that is using this database wrong?

Best regards,

Hello,
I hope that I'm posting this question in the right place. I just bought my first Hermes scarf on ebay. I did a lot of research before hand and felt comfortable with the seller and the information and photos provided. I just received the scarf today and although the listing said "no holes", it has a hole in it. It was new in the box and packaging and I paid top dollar so it is of course really disappointing. In addition to the silk fibres being spread, there are several (if you look very very closely) that have been severed.

Since it is relatively small, I know you won't really see it when tied but when it involves severed fiblres, could it lead to pulls after washing or could it ever spread? I will be contacting the seller once I decide what I want to do so I welcome any and all feedback on what you would do in this case.

Thanks!

Hello. This is a reference thread, so you should probably repost this as a new topic to create a discussion. That being said, when I receive something isn't quite as described, I weigh how long I've been waiting for the scarf, if I got a good price, whether the scarf/coloration becomes available often and how severe the damage (among other things). Would you be less disappointed if the seller did a partial refund? Ask yourself these questions, do some soul searching ... your first H-scarf purchase deserves that kind of deliberation. Good luck.

I didn't properly clarify in my post above that I'm looking for your thoughts on this type of hole in a Hermes silk scarf... would you live with it or can it spread - in which case, I will be sending it back (I'm not asking about how to deal with the issue in ebay). Thanks again.
