Hi, my first post here, and I have a question about a scarf currently for sale on Ebay. The item number is 180635355048.

I have always known this scarf by the name Jardin Creole, and I have always wanted one.

Did Hermes issue scarves under different names? I have also noticed this in some other scarf patterns, the Flacons scarf comes to mind.

??

Gloria Soli was reissued as Carpe Diem.

Perhaps it was a special issue. I don't know, but I do have reference to Nouvelle Caledonie in my notes.

I believe Jardin Creole was released in a special issue as Nouvelle Calédonie for the opening of the H boutique in Noumea, New Caledonia.

Hi,
I'm about to begin collecting scarves.
For Hermes, what are the dimensions of the 3 different sizes and how much are they?

Hi. Welcome to the slippery slope of Hermes scarves. All the information you requested can be found at their website ... http://tinyurl.com/yk67xnr. Sizes are 45, 70, 90 and 140 cm, and there are some designs that are triangles, oblong stoles, and twillys. Have fun shopping.

Hi. I'm a new poster here and just purchased my first Hermes scarf online from the official Hermes website, as I don't live near a Hermes boutique. I was a bit disappointed because the scarf is so stiff and I figured it would be really supple and soft like the other silk scarves I have purchased in the past (Ralph Lauren, etc). The other thing that disappointed me was that the color on the backside was not as saturated as the front -- something that I always used to look for to determine if the quality of a scarf was inferior or not.

Obviously, the Hermes boutique would not be selling me a fake, but are these things normal for a new scarf? Will it soften over time?

It was a birthday present to myself and I have never spent that much money on a scarf before...I expected it to be perfect.

Thanks.
Dagny

It is perfect, by Hermes standards. Color doesn't saturate to the backside on Hermes scarf. It's one of the many ways we can easily spot H-knock-offs. The stiffness of 90cms varies from season to season. They soften with wear but some people actually rinse out the sizing to speed up the process. Everyone has their own personal tricks to get a scarf to the condition they feel comfortable wearing, including putting the scarf between their mattresses (seriously). H has a line of vintage scarves that are very soft, however, they measure smaller than the regular squares; 70cm instead of 90cm. Hope this helps you feel more comfortable with your first purchase.

sdsurfchick,

Thank you for your kind response -- it makes me feel much better about the scarf. :smile1:

Is there somewhere on the boards that I can find how people "condition" their scarves? Or is it just something that is randomly mentioned on the site? Also, if I were to rinse it, how would I go about doing this? Air dry?

Thanks again for your response. I am still not sure if the colors are working for me on the scarf (the middle has a lot of gold in it and the edges are purple and green. I like the edges but I don't think the gold is something that is working against my complexion) but it might be that I didn't give it a fair look after my initial disappointment, as I put it right back in the box.

Cheers!

What is the name of the scarf? Can you submit a picture? Perhaps a picture of you wearing it as well :)

dagnypup, is it possible to do an exchange? You should be over the moon about your first H-scarf.
